If you were ever hoping to be in the house for an Oprah show, better act fast! Oprah will end her show at the end of its 25th season in September 2011, her production company Harpo Inc said yesterday.

The media mogul will make the official announcement at the end of her talk show today, as well as disclose the reasons behind the decision.

Word is Ms. Winfrey plans to concentrate on the forthcoming cable channel, OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network, which is expected to draw subscriptions from 70 million American homes. While telling her staff of the decision to end the talk show, she made it clear that she will not transfer the show to her cable channel, but she is expected to appear on the channel in some form. The rumors say she will close up shop in Chicago, where she has lived since 1984, and move to Los Angeles.

By now it seems like anything Oprah touches will turn into gold, but what do you think about her ending the iconic show? Who do you think could fill her shoes?

Rosie O’Donnell used to be likable.

That is, before she went from this funny, seemingly happy, kind-hearted comic to this embittered, frequently frowning, person who never had an opinion about someone else that she didn’t mind throwing out.

In a recent interview on Howard Stern’s Sirius XM show, Stern asked Rosie O’Donnell about why rumors that Oprah Winfrey is gay won’t go away.

This of course was an easy set-up for Rosie, given she’s been talking about Oprah leaving her panties at Gayle King’s house for years now.

True to form, Rosie said:

“I don’t know. I think she’s never been married and she’s exceptionally close to Gayle [King],” Rosie, who was promoting her own Sirius XM show, “Rosie Radio,” which stars next Monday, said. “I don’t know that she and Gayle are necessarily doing each other but I think they are the emotional equivalent of…”

“A gay couple,” Howard chimed in.

“When they did that road trip, that’s as gay as it gets,” Rosie said. “And I don’t mean it to be an insult either. I’m just saying, listen, if you ask me, that’s the couple.”

Chris Brown (and his now trademark bow tie) sat down with the Hot 97’s Angie Martinez Show this yesterday. It was more of the same questions about THE incident (Rihanna this, Rihanna that) but he did have Oprah’s name in his mouth again because he feels like she made him the bad guy on a domestic violence episode.

“I’m very tight. I don’t diss Oprah because I respect her as a woman and what she does for women all over the world. I just feel that me and her did so much together in the past as far as me working with her school in South Africa. I feel like at the time when I would have needed a helping hand, not to boost my career but for her to reach out to talk to me and Rihanna and say ‘this is wrong..this is right.’ I’m not saying have me on the show. Just help, that’s all i was asking for. It was never a thing where it was like ‘Look I want to help these two young kids’ instead of putting the blame on just one person and bringing up 3 domestic violence guys who got a kick out of doing whatever..and then comparing them to me. I felt some way about it.”

You still mad about that Chris? I mean it could be worse!

While Oprah hasn’t reached out to help Breezy, he did acknowledge Will Smith and Diddy for offering to help. He also shouted out the couple who posted a YouTube video of their wedding party dancing into the ceremony to his song “Forever.” “That put me back on the map,” he said. After gaining popularity on the web, the NBC show The Office also did their own version of the “Forever” Wedding entrance.

Out of all the things that people have said about him and all the support he’s gotten in spite of what he did, it’s silly for Chris Brown to still feel some type of way about that one Oprah episode. He needs to let it go and focus on his upcoming Fan Appreciation tour that kicks off November 15th, ’cause if his fans aren’t feeling his new music it’s really a wrap.

Tyra Banks tweeted that she would “reveal her real hair” on the season premier of her talk show and then showed her audience what’s been growing underneath those lace fronts when the show aired. “I wanted to show the real me, I wanted to show the raw me.
Oprah declared on Twitter that she doesn’t wear weave and later showed her audience a picture of herself she said was taken before she got her hair straightened. The media mogul also let Chris Rock feel her scalp to prove her hair was all her own when he came by her show to promote his movie Good Hair.

In the new issue of People magazine, Chris stepped to Oprah when asked about her “show on abuse, inspired by Rihanna” and said:

“I commend Oprah on being like, ‘This is a problem,’ but it was a slap in my face I did a lot of stuff for her, like going to Africa and performing for her school. She could have been more helpful, like, ‘Okay, I’m going to help both of these people out.”

In response, Oprah’s rep told TMZ, “Oprah is very appreciative that Chris Brown performed at her school, but she takes domestic abuse very seriously. She hopes he gets the counseling he needs.”

How ironic that Chis called Oprah’s actions a “slap in the face!” Boy stop! Just because you were lucky enough to perform at one of her events doesn’t mean she owes you squat. Period. I wonder how many more media rounds Chris is going to make about before he gets too busy doing that hard labor.

Also, this Sunday a new episode of America’s Best Dance Crew will air on MTV, but last Sunday ‘Lil Mama sparked a bit of controversy because of comments she made to a transgender contestant, Leiomy Maldonado. When her group, Vogue Evolution, complained that Leiomy was being difficult at practice Lil’ Mama said:

“Leiomy, come on. Your behavior…it’s unacceptable. I just feel that you always have to remember your truth. You were born a man and you are becoming a woman. If you’re going to become a woman, act like a lady. Don’t be a bird, like ‘Oh my god, I’m not doing this!’ You know what I’m saying? It gets too crazy and it gets confusing.”

GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) received several complaints about Lil Mama’s comments and days later, Lil’ Mama issued a formal apology to GLAAD via a statement: “I would like to clarify anything that was misunderstood from Sunday’s show. My remarks were never meant to be disrespectful regarding Leiomy’s gender nor offensive to the LGBT community, which has been a community that has supported me in all my endeavors. However, in hindsight, I recognize that my words may have come across as hurtful. I spoke with her privately after the taping to express that it was not my intent to offend her or any member of the transgender community and that I still live for Vogue Evolution.”

Hopefully Lil’ Mama keeps it cute this weekend (and quiets down her loud outfits while she’s at it)!

Lastly, Michael Jackson was finally buried yesterday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park outside Los Angeles. Just one day before the family gathered to pay their respects, Janet Jackson went to Twitter to show her late brother love:

“I love you, Mike, and I miss you. Dunk.,” she Tweeted signing off with the nickname that Michael used to call her.

According to The YBF.com Janet is scheduled to speak on her brother’s death and updates in her life and career in an upcoming issue of Harper’s Bazaar.

Last Friday Drake took a tumble while onstage performing with Lil’ Wayneat the America’s Most Wanted tour concert leg in New Jersey and the singer/rapper re-injured his knee. Twitter was ablaze with news of the injury and links to videos of the unfortunate tumble. Drake responded to his fans from his Twitter account @Drakkardnoir to let them know that he was OK, but someone else took to Twitter to write about the incident as well: Drake’s knee.

Yes, that night a Twitter account called @DrakesKnee popped up generating Tweets on behalf of the singer/rapper’s bum body part. A sample Tweet: “Hip hop’s like an open sore / but weezy came and opened doors / don’t worry bout my knee / worry if i lose my vocal chords”

Then something crazy happened: a trend (and Twitter trending topic: #celebritybodyparts) was born. Over the weekend dozes of Twitter accounts sprang up on behalf of celebrity body parts from “Oprah’s ugly feet” to Souljah Boy and Trey Songz’s err, third legs. I can’t decide if this movement is hilarious or plain ridiculous (maybe a bit of both) but below is a sampling of some of the celeb body part accounts on Twitter and what they’ve got to say:

@KanyesBeard (it should be noted that someone created this account last December, way before the trend spread like wildfire this weekend and there’s even a blog – way to stay committed!): “Once again this ni—ga walked right pass the shaving kit”

@Rihanna4Head: “Shout out to Tyras 4head! without you, id feel lyk an outsider. 5HEADS UNITE!!!”

@CiarasWig: “@brandysbraids On behalf of yaki, remy, and wigs everywhere. We respect you!” (yep, the body parts often send shout outs to each other and some even have beef).

@ Jayzlips: “All back everything , All black whip / 2 Chapsticks, one for each fat lips. Cheea!”

@solangesfade: “I guess she cut my hair so I could look more like TONY”

@chrisbrownsfist: “I’m punching out….night twitter.”

@tinysface: “THE OLD SAYING IS TRUE: remember when ur elders told you “KEEP MAKIN THAT FACE & ITLL STAY LIKE THAT”…”

There’s a lot more from where that came from. Check Twitter if you want to hear from other outlandish body parts of the stars. No matter what you think about the trend, one thing’s for sure: clearly people have way too much time on their hands.

Hovi Baby?

We’ve long heard rumors that Jay-Z has a secret love child but now a UK tabloid is stirring up the controversy again. As the old story goes, the 39-year-old mogul is said to have fathered a son back in 2001 with a model named Shenelle Scott (supposedly Jay paid a mill to keep his name off the birth certificate).

UK Now recently reported that: “Shenelle and her son live a quiet life in Trinidad at a $2.5 million home that Jay-Z bought for them after paternity tests revealed a positive match. It’s also thought that Shenelle, 28, brings her son to see Jay-Z in New York, where he’s based, whenever she flies there for modeling assignments.” They also say: “Beyonce…is now apparently accepting of the boy and is even said to have gone on holiday with her stepson in the South of France.” Of course Jay’s reps have always denied that there is any truth to this story, but we’ve seen him deny the truth before!

It took six months for Jay and Bey to confirm their marriage, is it possible that it’s taken him all these years to acknowledge a son?

Dream Wedding?

Terius “The Dream” Nash and Christina Milian are rumored to be jumping the broom this weekend. According to MediaTakeOut.com an “insider” said: “The Dream and Christina Milian are hosting a ’special event’ in Las Vegas on Saturday afternoon. The event, which will be attended by a dozen or so close family and friends – including Christina’s mom and The Dream’s daughter, is so super secret – that even the guests don’t know what it’s about.”

The couple initially denied and then kept quiet on their engagement, so perhaps they’re trying to tie the knot on the low as well? If the buzz is true that would be a busy weekend for the two: The Dream is up for “Best Male R&B Artist” at the BET Awards this Sunday.

Secret Diary?

Last (and most laughable to me) The Enquirer has reported that Oprah’s private diaries are missing and they’ve got “her most intimate secrets.” According to the tabloid: “The talk-show queen has confided the shocking contents of her secret journals to close pals, including the admission that she and her best pal Gayle King are more than just friends who often share the same bed” and Oprah is “terrified those disclosures could be ‘misinterpreted’ if they become public.” The story also said that Oprah has written about eating binges getting worse and even called Dr. Phil a snake.

Please! I think we can all agree that even on the off chance that this story actually had any truth to it, Oprah has enough money and power to make anything (or anyone) disappear, including a few journals. This one’s pretty far out there!

True or False? What do you think about all these rumors?

SOURCE 1, 2, 3

Daytime TV’s favorite fairy godmother is no longer the world’s most powerful celebrity. At least not in the eyes of Forbes who released its annual Celebrity 100 list, which ranks celebs on annual earnings and media buzz.

The star who knocked Oprah from her #1 spot of the past two years? Angelina Jolie. Jolie only racked in $27 million to the Big O’s $275 million (whoo! I’m trying to get that Oprah!) but according to the magazine the actress’ big film releases from last year and non-stop coverage of the birth of her twins and relationship with Brad Pitt (who came in at #9) pushed her to the top.

There list is full with lots of other great rich and famous faces: Beyonce maintained her #4 position from last year, although hubby Jay-Z plummeted from #7 last year to #32 this year. It’s time for that next album Hov! Luckily we’ve just heard that the Blueprint 3 is scheduled for release on September 11th.

Diddy hit the list at #35 and I’m fully anticipating a Tweet (then re-tweet) with a tinyurl of the news he made the list on his Twitter page. Kanye’s is probably somewhere throwing a tantrum because he only came in at #46, though he still came in before 50 Cent (who made it at, most appropriately, #50) which has to have Ye feeling even more smug after their 2007 record sale war.

Holding it down for the athletes: Tiger Woods came in at #5, Kobe Bryant at #10, Michael Jordan even made the list at #18 (forget the young bucks! Mike won’t ever be irrelevant!), and Lebron James snagged #19.

Midway on the list sits our President Barack Obama, which marks yet another first: the first sitting head of state to appear on the list. Not surprising at all! From his books being sold in trendy stores like Urban Outfitters, to his face on the cover of every magazine from Rolling Stone to Vibe, to his late night talk show appearances you can’t deny his celebrity!

Good to see so many great faces represented and judging by the salary reports on this list, it ain’t a recession for everybody!

See the complete list at Forbes.com. Do you agree with their ranking of celebrity?

It seems Oprah can’t win for losing with people. The Empress was kind enough to hook up the hungry and financially challenged people of the land with a free meal at KFC, but the move has since prompted anger within some members of the Black community.

Apparently detractors feel that Oprah is aiding KFC in perpetuating a stereotype. They’re referring to the image of a Black woman doing a chicken dance in a commercial promoting KFC’s grilled chicken campaign.

Before you call Jesse and Al, KFC does have people of other racial groups all dancing like idiots, too. However, the woman with the crinkly weave is the only person dancing like she was born with feathers. Is that worth forgoing a free meal over, though?

I don’t know about ya’ll, but I’ve already printed out three of these coupons so unless this grilled chicken comes with a side of watermelon, orange soda, and the N-word, I’ll be eating it. Besides, I trust Oprah. How do I know these people complaining don’t work for Popeye’s, Church’s, or the local hood Chinese spot with the daily wing specials?
