A group called The National Coalition For Men has released a statement that calls on Rihanna to speak out on her alleged violence against Chris Brown.

They feel her lack of admission is a double standard.  The group’s statement reads:

The National Coalition For Men (NCFM) calls on Rihanna to discuss her own reported violence against Brown as well if she wants to shed light on the problem honestly.

According to court records and other sources, Rihanna struck Brown in the face “numerous times” before Brown assaulted her (’http://news.ninemsn.com.au/entertainment/768865/rihanna-hit-chris-brow…’). NCFM purports although that would not justify his more severe assault, her violence should not be ignored, and if she does not ‘woman up’ to it then her message will be the usual one-sided double standards that leave female perpetration covered up.

The saying, ‘There is no excuse for domestic violence,’ applies to both sexes. Female violence in relationships is not rare but is often hypocritically deemed acceptable or humorous, such as in the film, Sideways. It is part of the cycle of domestic violence, which cannot be stopped without addressing the problem honestly. Children are damaged just by witnessing domestic violence, regardless of its severity.

If Rihanna sincerely wants to raise awareness about domestic violence, NCFM calls on her to be forthcoming about her own violence and to address the problem honestly.

Although Chris Brown seems to have escaped Rihanna’s violent acts without a scar on his face — do you agree with the group’s criticism of Rihanna or is it unfair?

A few weeks ago Tiffany Evans raised eyebrows when she rent on a rant about “satanic” practices in the music industry, specifically blasting Rihanna’s new single “Russian Roulette”, a song she thinks is glorifying suicide and the devil. The lyrics start off: “Take a breath, take it deep/Calm yourself, he says to me/If you play, you play for keeps/Take a gun, and count to three/I’m sweating now, moving slow/No time to think, my turn to go”

Now although Rihanna sings the song Ne-Yo is artist who actually wrote it and here’s what he had to say in response to Evan’s comments: “It’s definitely dark, but if you think about it, ‘Thriller’ was dark, but it’s one of the biggest-selling records of all time. Nobody’s really going out to play Russian roulette or thinking about killing themselves or nothing like that. It was just an interesting topic over a crazy beat, and who better to pull that off than somebody like Rihanna?”

Meanwhile the producer of the song Chuck Harmony wasn’t having any of it! He called Evan’s rant “beyond stupid” and “immature” and also added: “There are no satanic messages in the music. Maybe if we did a remake of ‘Promise Ring’ (Tiffany’s hit single), then Rihanna wouldn’t be a devil worshiper. People are so closed minded. The song is not literal. Like most provocative art, its symbolism. Grow up.”

Singer Omarion added his two cents to the subject in an interview with TheBoombox.com and elaborated on the music industry’s “dark side”:

“I don’t personally know Rihanna’s beliefs but I think there’s a very dark and very sinister part of the entertainment business and I think it’s very visible…it really made me think that there is a [time as an artist] where there’s going to be a choice. The [entertainment] world [dictates] that you have to be with three or four women, or do this in order to get that [and] I think it’s really interesting. With God and the industry, it’s really dark. The dark side is having to get in, there’s a certain submission you need to have. Just like a gang [initiation], so to speak. You might have to do something against your moral code. I’m not saying that it’s always this way, but when you’re someone that is young and you’re coming up in the industry and you really don’t have a grip on your morals it can be very dark. The game is just about over saturation.

I don’t know if Rihanna [has fallen victim to those pressures]. I’ve never really heard her speak about it. I hope that she doesn’t believe in that stuff and I don’t think that she does, but I don’t know. It’s not just been a Rihanna thing, [there's has been religious speculation] about a lot of artists.”

Evans, like Omarion, made some good points on the music industry having a pull on an artist’s morals, but honestly I forgot she was even a recording artist before her rant so I wonder if she’s just trying to get some attention by going as far to say artists in the industry are “devil worshipers.” What’s your take on the whole controversy?

Tiffany Evans has a voice that commands attention, but maybe some publicist ought to look into silencing her when she not’s on stage.

Evans wrote an impassioned tweet about Rihanna’s new single, “Russian Roulette.”

Basically: That girl ain’t nothing but the devil.

She tweeted:

You gotta watch what u say. Because there are a lot of weak people in the world. They are susceptible to anything so anything you say or do some people actually do listen. So make sure its nothing bad. Its okay to be deep,but not murder deep.

Man! I really wish I could tell you guys what the industry really is and what stars are apart of destroying this world. The stars who worship satan,and those who have killed to get the respect they have now. You’d be verrrry surprise. Some of your favorite people pretend to worship God but they only do that to save face. Or seem innocent.

What a survivor! Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins told People magazine that she secretly battled a brain tumor for three years!

Back in 2006, the singer underwent a 7 hour surgery, where the doctor peeled the tumor from her brain stem by making a cut behind her ear, but she kept the experience to herself, even while she participated in Celebrity Apprentice earlier this year.

“I didn’t want pity – I was there to help sick children,” she explained.

That’s a crazy ordeal to go through and keep to yourself, but luckily, T-Boz is a fighter. “I’m still here. It will take way more to stop me,” she said.

Mi Mi is Exceeding Her Own Expectations

Mariah Carey is on the cover of this week’s In Touch Weekly and she reveals that she never thought she’d make it this far.

“I have always been grateful for everything I had, but my personal life was a mess,” she told the magazine. “So many artists just exist for their careers and then burn out quickly.“

As you probably recall the Grammy Award winning songbird did have a breakdown in 2001 and some wondered if it would be the end of her career, apparently Mimi joined that line of thinking.

“Honestly, I never thought I’d live this long. I always thought that I wouldn’t be here at this point. I was thinking, ‘Okay, I’ve got another year of my life left. This has got to be the end of it,’” she said. She attributes husband Nick Cannon to helping her helped her snap out of it. “Finally, he was like, “Stop talking like that.“

Despite her doubts, Mariah, who hit 40 this year, is still in the game! She just came out with a new album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel and is starring in the upcoming movie Precious which has already generated awards chatter. It also looks like children are on her mind. Although the magazine ran a cover headline that said “I’m Going to be a Mom” the Cannon’s aren’t expecting just yet, but they’re planning on it. Mariah actually said “I’m going to be a mom, one day” in the article (sneaky editing for the cover!) and Nick revealed “it’s at the forefront of our minds. We’re very close.”

Put Some Clothes on!

Rihanna is known for her edgy outfits but security guards in Venice were not feeling it. The singer was booted from Saint Mark’s Basilica Catholic church because she tried to enter in the skimpy outfit above (guess she thought she was in Venice Beach?) and strict rules require that legs and shoulders must be covered up.  Rhi-Rhi ended up having to make a bootleg outfit out of what looked like two red table clothes so that she could get in. I don’t know what would possess her to enter a church in a bra-bearing, skintight mini dress but I know she has more conservative outfits than that (what happened to the black dress she wore to court during the Chris Brown trial?).  The pope doesn’t play!

Reports say that Justin Timberlake has ended his relationship with Jessica Biel.

Naturally the tabloids have wasted no time in pairing him with a new girl — Rihanna!

Star magazine claims that after a “hot grinding session” (someone over 40 wrote this) at an MTV VMA after party at 1Oak, the two moved to her hotel room for the after party.

A source told the tabloid:  “They tried to keep it a secret, but Jessica found out within days. She must be a wreck.”

The source (aka somebody’s publicist) went on to add:

“Rihanna and Justin have been talking and texting on the phone nonstop since the VMAs. She asked him on the phone, ‘Are you still with Jessica?’ And he hinted that things were cooling off between them.”

And while they’re working on the new album:

“One time, Justin was joking about strippers. He said she needed to entertain him like that. So Rihanna gave him an impromptu lap dance! She likes to test the boundaries. She is a total tease and loves flirting with him. She digs him and wants to date him too!”

That girl has about as much rhythm as a rock, but if he likes it (allegedly), I love it (allegedly).

Rihanna was spotted with her best friend Melissa enjoying some free time in Venice. Rihanna – whose hair is starting to remind me of Cruella DeVille – was in Italy over the weekend for the wedding of her manager, Marc Jordan.

Now these two look rather comfortable with each other. Comfortable enough to where they have each other’s birthdays permanently tattooed on them. Probably comfortable enough to not let those old rumors infringe on their friendship either.

I am very much aware of her last relationship, but I’ll just say I haven’t hugged anyone like that since my last great date.

Looks like Breezy’s setting up for the comeback!  According to MTV.com  Chris Brown is scheduled to headline Power 105.1’s Powerhouse concert in New Jersey on October 27th (that’ll be a nice break for him from his 180-day hard labor sentence in Virginia!). The show, which will also feature Fabolous, The Dream, Trey Songz, Keri Hilson and Mario, will be the first major promotional event that Chris has participated in to push his upcoming album Graffiti.  What do you think about the concert: is it too soon for Chris to be back on the scene or has he suffered enough?

From good news to bad news: rapper Eve told TheYBF.com that she permanently shut down her Fetish clothing line due to “legal reasons” and she also confirmed she has left her label Geffen Records. Ouch! Times may be hard or maybe Eve is just on to the next thing and focusing more on her acting interests. She’s in the upcoming Drew Barrymore and Ellen Page movie Whip It! and will be guest starring on the Fox TV show Glee for two episodes.

There might have been even more you missed from The 6th Annual VH1 Hip Hop Honors which was taped this week!  Apparently Russell Simmons was not at all happy with the show that show which commemorated the 25th anniversary of Def Jam Records. Rumor has it that Russell, who co-founded Def Jam, sent an email out to the show’s executive producer and called the show “incomplete at best.” He allegedly said that not having Jay-Z, Rihanna, Kanye, Damon Dash, LL Cool J, or Irv Gotti involved hurt the show and said that he wasn’t feeling having a comedian host (Tracy Morgan hosted the awards). The show is scheduled to air on October 13th on VH1 so set your DVRs and judge for yourself. In the meantime, have a great weekend! We’ll chat with you next week!

Chris Brown tried to keep a composed front while discussing his saga with Rihanna in an interview on Larry King Live but behind the scenes it seems that the singer is pining for his ex-girlfriend.

Last night on his Twitter page (@MechanicalDummy) he Tweeted:

“Sorry y’all this, just one of those days” and included this link to a video of his new song “Changed Man” that featured a slide of  pictures of him and Rhi Rhi in happier times.

He then added: “My heart is incomplete … The part that is complete is my love for fans, career, friends, family … god. But I’m missing someone or something.”

Though Chris  doesn’t mention Rihanna by name, I think even Stevie Wonder could see that “something missing” he’s referring to is her! Not surprising considering the couple dated for 18 months before the drama that resulted in a judge ruling a “stay away” order for 5 years.

That might be the last time we ever see Chris wear his heart on his Twitter page though. Very shortly after he posted his emotional Tweets he deleted them from his page and updated it with this message (in all caps): “I ain’t postin’ s— else about me (personally). I’m so over all this bulls—.”

Guess someone pissed him off with reply comments, or the inevitable media whirlwind that ensued was just too much to handle (although he had to know it would happen! Last week when Chris was at JFK airport and Tweeted “One of the guyz looked like wendy williams. Or was it the other way around….lol.” it definitely made news before he deleted it from his page!).

We’ll see how long Chris can refrain from getting personal on Twitter, in the meantime what do you think about his personal comments?

Though she may have missed this Sunday’s Video Music Awards, Rihanna still managed to be on the brains of many who attended the show.

While on the red carpet for the event, Ne-Yo was asked about his work on Rihanna’s forthcoming album.

Her frequent collaborator acknowledged that he’s been in the studio writing music with Rih-Rih and noted that fans can look forward to a new sound from the pop star.

He said listeners can expect an “angrier, edgier” sound on her next album.

He added: “Rihanna says some things on this album that you’ve never heard her say before.”

Gee, I wonder what she could possibly be mad about.

Akon was also pulled for info about Rihanna’s new project. He apparently would rather see Rihanna with a grin on her face.

He said: “I’m not supposed to say anything, but I’m going to work on as many songs as possible with her. I’m going to lighten her up. I don’t want an angry Rihanna.”
