Halloween is rapidly approaching and this year amid the ghouls and goblins a popular costume choice will be to dress as a celebrity. Even celebrities are being celebrities: Tyra Banks showed off her Kim Kardashian costume on her show earlier this week (pictured above).

One of my friends mentioned going as Rihanna, complete with a black eye and an umbrella and having her boyfriend be Chris Brown in a community service jump suit (too soon, too soon!), here are some other ideas if you want to be one of the stars.

Michael Jackson

“Thriller” is always an unofficial Halloween anthem grab a red leather jacket, pants (make sure to show off your white socks) and a jheri curl wig and be the King of Pop in the iconic video. Points if you know the choreography when the song starts playing while you’re partying.

Lil’ Mama

With a cheap weave ponytail, a bedazzled shirt and jeans you too can be ‘Lil Mama. Run up on folks and interrupt their conversations while breaking into a thug stance or have a friend be Jay-Z (all black everything, easy enough).

Lil Wayne

Rock locks, add fake tattoos on your neck and face (don’t forget the teardrop), get a grill and you’ve got Weezy F. Baby. Just don’t break out into “Lollipop” if little trick-or-treaters are around.

Beyonce

If you’re feeling bold, try an easy Beyonce costume from her “Single Ladies” video. A leg bearing leotard, heels and a blond wig.
Tell any guy who tries to holler if he likes it…well you know the rest!

Vanessa Simmons says that she’s a natural woman: “I look like a dork but it shows my color better…and O yea im all natural (aside from color) Thats ALLLLLLLL me!” she declared on Twitter with a link to a picture of herself with long two-toned hair.

Rev. Run’s daughter isn’t the only celeb that has Tweeted that her hair is her own.

Tyra Banks tweeted that she would “reveal her real hair” on the season premier of her talk show and then showed her audience what’s been growing underneath those lace fronts when the show aired. “I wanted to show the real me, I wanted to show the raw me. I just got out of the shower…and came onto the stage. This is me ya’ll!” she said. Last month she also let Larry King give her hair the “feel test” to prove that she didn’t have on a weave.

Oprah declared on Twitter that she doesn’t wear weave and later showed her audience a picture of herself she said was taken before she got her hair straightened. The media mogul also let Chris Rock feel her scalp to prove her hair was all her own when he came by her show to promote his movie Good Hair.

Thirty seems to be the magic number for Tyra Banks.

This week Forbes unveiled that Ms. Shake Ya Body (get into it) is the top earner of primetime TV as she earned a reported $30 million last year.

And more recently, it’s been revealed that Tyra has lot 30 pounds. We got a glimpse of her new frame this week during a photo shoot in NYC.

If you recall, Tyra Banks famously appeared on her talk show to berate all those that berated her for mentioning her 30 pound weight gain. “Kiss my fat a—“ ring a bell?

I thought so, which is why some people are asking whether or not Tyra’s weight lost is sending mixed messages to young girls?

So, what kind of message is that sending to her fans … and does Tyra even care? Back when she was still enjoying her ice cream, she defended herself against the naysayers in part by saying: “I get so much mail from young girls who say, ‘I look up to you, you’re not as skinny as everyone else, I think you’re beautiful,’ So when they say that my body is ‘ugly’ and ‘disgusting’, what does that make those girls feel like?’” Well, how does it make those same girls feel seeing Tyra validating the negativity by dropping the weight that made her “ugly” and “disgusting” in the first place?

Please don’t be too rough on me in the comments section, but Tyra does look better thin. She looks a lot more comfortable.

But does Wendy have a point or should she and others stay out of Tyra’s refrigerator.

Tyra mail!

Tyra Banks is being challenged to reach into that Bankable Productions account and pay up!   The TV personality was just slapped with a lawsuit from her former assistant Richard Thomas who is seeking $5,820 in back wages.

TMZ reports that  Thomas wants the money for “services rendered as assistant and advisor.” The legal documents require Thomas to ask Tyra for the money prior to filing suit but Thomas responded: “I have not been able to catch [Tyra] while she is in.”

Tyra’s new assistant is probably the one giving Thomas the old “Miss Banks is out to lunch” runaround when he calls to ask for his money and what, did he think Tyra was going to pull out her purse and write a check?  Someone needs to transfer him to the  payroll department! I doubt this small claim is even on Tyra’s radar. She’s probably spent more on a lace front.

The stars dazzled at the 36th annual Daytime Emmy Awards last night and there was plenty of action from some of our favorite TV celebs!  Ugly Betty’s Vanessa Williams hosted the night and reminded viewers of her singing chops taking to the stage to preform song and dance numbers in between awards. One of the nights big winners was Tyra Banks who accepted the honor of “Best Informative Talk Show” for The Tyra Banks Show. This is her second year in a row getting this award (get it)! I admit, when Tyra first announced her talk show plans I wasn’t sure how it would work out but she’s doing well. What do we think? Is Tyra on her way to becoming the next Oprah?

Congrats are in order for The View team, with  Joy Behar, Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, and Sherri Shepherd for “Best Talk Show Host.”  Too bad none of them were actually at the Emmys to receive the award! In the past they’ve been beat out by the Ellen Degeneres Show and apparently weren’t expecting a win. Sherri, who co-hosted the Daytime Emmys last year, actually Tweeted right before the award was announced: “In hot Ft Lauderdale FL checking out the Daytime Emmys – maybe a win next year” and then updated shortly after the win “OHMYGOSH we won!” and then “The one time I decided not to go we win!” Side note: I keep seeing commercials for Sherri’s new show on Lifetime TV. Hope she finds success there too!

Kevin Clash the puppeteer/voice of Elmo accepted the “Lifetime Achievement Award” for Sesame Street. I’m obviously extremely late but I had no idea the voice of Elmo was an African-American man!

Wendy Williams put her girls on display in a mint floor length gown with pockets. Of course her look wouldn’t be complete without a Rapunzel lacefront but this is one of her better looks I’ve seen!

Tatyana Ali made a sparkling appearance in a curve-hugging metallic halter gown.

Remember “Little Ricky” from Family Matters?  Well actor Bryton McClure is all grown up and acting on the Young & The Restless now.  He was nominated for Best Young Actor.

Young & The Restless actresses Victoria Rowell and Tonya Lewis Lee who play sisters on the show each rocked the red carpet in attention grabbing looks.

What a night!

In the past, Tyra Banks has dressed up like a Klump fresh from the buffet, stood in a bathing suit to check ya’ll who called her tubby, and wore braids to show how down she is for the cause.

Now the talk show host is going to really take it there on her show.

That’s right, Tyra Banks is about to remove the lace front and show you her natural scalp minus the Elmer’s Glue.

But wait, she wants you to join her!

Tyra said:

“This season on The Tyra Show we’re taking it to the next level and getting more real than ever before by encouraging women everywhere to own and rock what they’ve got and be proud! For the Season 5 premiere, I will be doing just that – no fake hair, I’m rocking my REAL hair. This will all be going down on September 8, 2009, which we’re declaring National Real Hair Day! Remember when Tyra Banks went on some tirade on her TV show telling the people who question her weight to kiss her fat a–?

Yeah, she’s on a diet now.

Tyra’s so adamant about beating down the fat girl that lives within that she has completely banished junk food from her presence – even if it’s your food.

That’s right, if you know her that means you’re on a diet, too, by default.

Here’s what a source told FOX 411:

“She has become so strict with her diet that she can’t even stand for junk food or fattening food to be around her. So she’s basically telling anyone she eats with what they can and can’t order. Most people think she’s joking at first, but then they realize she actually expects them to follow her eating rules too. She tells them: ‘If I’m not eating it, you’re not eating it!’”

Whatever. Just because you feel heavy and hectic doesn’t mean I have to forgo my catfish sandwich.

They are better than me. I’d be tempted to send her a bacon gift basket just to let her know the world doesn’t revolve around her waistline.

Here’s a weird twist in the Tyra Banks stalker case: homeboy was found guilty, but he won’t serve any jail time.

Brady Green, the 39-year-old Brooklyn supermarket employee was accused of following the reality show/talk show diva and threatening over the phone to slit the throat of one of her show’s staffers(!) who did not provide him access to the set.

Even though he was found guilty of both stalking and harassment, a day after Banks testified against him in a New York City courtroom, criminal court Judge James Burke declined to sentence him to jail time. He could have faced 90 days in jail (is that all? Homie threatened to slit a throat, right?), but instead the judge told the defendant’s lawyer: “Put Mr. Green in a location where he can thrive. And that location is not likely to be the city of New York.”

Said the attorney Jeffrey Berman, “I’m disappointed with the verdict, but I’m glad the judge did not send him to jail.” An order of protection, however, was extended by the judge.

Remember Isis King from Tyra Banks’ runaway (or should that be runway?) hit America’s Next Top Model?

If not here’s a quick refresher: She was the first transgenger contestant who got booted after freaking out about, um, exposing her true self in a bathing suit shoot in a pool. Love or hate her, she was determined to be a she, and Banks apparently introduced her to a surgeon after the show wrapped who said he’d do it free of charge.

“It’s almost like I was supposed to have it,” said King, who was born Darrell Walls. “Although it was swelling and bruising and everything, automatically I felt more comfortable. I was ready to walk around the house in my little shorts. I just felt more confident.”

She went on the show to talk about her experience (and recreate that photo shoot) and introduce the world to her boyfriend, a guy she met on Myspace three years ago.

Her boyfriend, Desmond, surprised her and proposed.

Tyra Banks relives President Barack Obama’s Inauguration celebration Thursday on the set of her show — it’s tapped in New York City– with cardboard cutouts of the new first family. The episode will focus on the talk-show host’s inaugural experience and will air on Jan. 29th.
