Director Oliver Stone tells the latest Men’s Journal that when actors Jeffrey Wright (above), Josh Brolin and a few crew members off the set of “W,” Stone’s controversial new biopic about the current president, were involved in a July bar brawl in Louisiana, race was definitely a factor in the flying fists.
Wright, who portrays Gen. Colin Powell in “W,” has maintained his innocence in the fracas and now Stone suggests the fight started after a barman took a dislike to Wright.
“I saw Jeffrey being arrested,” Stone tells Men’s Journal. “I guarantee you, that man was not drunk, and he was not disorderly… There was a white bartender who had taken a dislike to him a few days prior and he’s (Wright) not going to take s**t from anybody.
“He was escorted out of the bar and treated in a rough manner by these policemen. That’s when Josh and his group went out to protest… The cops said, ‘Step back, sir!’ Josh said, ‘Sir, why are you arresting him?’ and then, boom, (they) maced him in the eyes. They tasered Jeffrey twice.”
Stone admits to never lifting a hand in Wright’s defense that night, claiming fear of his own arrest. Shreveport police supposedly conducted a formal investigation and, to the surprise of no one, decided the local authorities had done nothing wrong.
yeah that’s what happens most of the time when u go into the small southern stickbilly towns where they hate on the color of your skin, they don’t know much of anything only hate, mostly uneducated whites who haven’t came out of there home state or even counties long enough to realize that they are f*****up individuals who incest , don’t brush there teeth, mojority have no teeth, no indoor pluming, lice, no shoes on, furniture on the front porch I know because what he dealt with I deal with it almost everyday, coming from a place small down south. the men like our women and the women like our men, and there daughters want our sons. and they call us n*****!
Even though Oliver Stone did not cause this incident, it’s a shame when one human being cannot come to the defense of another human being when there is obvious wrongdoing occurring. That’s our country… Vote for Obama folks!

Unbelieveable.. The media and politicians claim that predjudice and racisim isn’t a reality.. then what the FU@k is this? These are not your typical citizens. these are well known directors and actors that are being targeted.. Oliver Stone..Im ashamed for you. You witnessed this happens and you did nothing? Because you were afraid??!!?! I believe the officers may have toned down their blatant wrongdoing if a “white Spectator” possibly intervened. He accepted this behavior. Do you think Martin luther kings followers were all black? That the march on Washington included only people of color..? Of course not. SOME whites were just as influential if not a bit more as far as supporting African americans and theiro right to civil rights .Louisiana the same state that,in an natural catastrophe such as Katrina, left its Black residents to suffer, and die. It is time that we have some justice for people in this country. This type of issue is not exclusive to blacks onli, Its relevant to everyone thats not of white decent.. and its scary. Barack or Mcain??? Hmm who do you think would have addressed this issue with more fervor& disdain.. Barack Obama of course. Who do you think would have accepted outright rasict behavior as the norm…”That One”.. How familiar…. I just say again and again….. When people start shooting the Police because of their behavior, then people will begin to take notice. This is a sad state!!!!! I was not there, nor can I judge. Just remember everyone has someone to do their dirt for them. That uniform does not make you correct. That is why some Citizens have no regards to respect of the Police right now today. The real sad part is for the GOOD Police men/women it has a negative effect on their hard work.
NOTE**** For all who are racist and ignorant stop trying to serve “OUR” Country and just move on an island for people of your kind, and live in hatred together, so that civil human beings can have peace and harmony…. This Country have more pressing issues than dealing w/ ignoranc e… .

I really need to move from down south because y’all seem surprised that this happened. This happens all the time in my hometown. Oliver Stone did best. He knows that mob mentality might have cost him his life.
Not only is Oliver Stone guilty of twisting the facts to suit his agenda, but he lacks the backbone to do the right thing. He should’ve politely stepped up to the defense of Jeffrey Wright.
Would I have done something if I was in Mr.Stone’s shoes? Yessir!!!
I have a low tolerance for anyone being wronged.
One episode occured while working as a security officer at a large inner-city hospital. Some young white nurses were spooked by a big black man and his family. I was called to deal with the situation (and expected to at least evict those folks and probably put a “trespass” notice on them). As it turned out the big black man in question happened to be someone who I knew while in the military. (We are both retired servicemen.) I knew that he was guilty of no wrongdoing and spoke up for him.
It doesn’t take much to do the right thing. If you can’t, then call for backup.

This is why it amazes me that people believe that racism has suddenly vanished in this country. As election day gets closer and Obama continues to lead, note how blatant McCain supporters are getting in expressing how they really feel. Racism in this country is becoming more and more like it is in Latin American countries where people don’t admit to being racist although they still harbor racist sentiments. There was a recent report from Houston that police are more likely to taser blacks than whites. This incident involving Wright isn’t suprising.
