59th Annual Primetime…zzzzzzzz

I can’t lie. I dozed off about 10:30ish during the 59th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. Can you blame me? Tony Bennett won three awards (seven collectively), first-time host Ryan Seacrest was as corny as ever and by then, nominees Vanessa Williams (supporting actress in a comedy for “Ugly Betty”) and Chandra Wilson (supporting actress in a drama for “Grey’s Anatomy”) had put on their gracious loser faces. I woke up this morn to discover Queen Latifah left empty-handed, too. Not a strong night for Black actors at all. In fact, that rousing tribute to the 30th anniversary of “Roots” was the only segment worth my time last night. How nice to see Chicken George, Kunta Kinte and Kizzy take the stage together again? Seriously, my sleepy eyes gleamed with pride when I watched our legendary actors receive a standing “O” on national television. Shortly after that, I saw nothing but the back of my eyelids…Strangely enough, I had a dream that “The Wire” was nominated for best drama and won!

Maybe the red carpet was where the real action was. Check the Head Over Heels blog for Emmy fashion.
