American Idol Votes Rigged, Kanye’s Revenge

American Idol

It has barely been a week since Arkansas native Kris Allen was crowned 2009’s American Idol, and controversy already ensues. There’s a theory that AT&T, one of the biggest corporate sponsors of American Idol, rigged the outcome of this year’s competition by providing phones for free text messaging services, and lessons in casting blocks of votes at parties organized by fans of Allen.

According to an article published by The Los Angeles Times, American Idol Representatives of AT&T, whose mobile phone network is the only one that can be used to cast Idol votes, via text message, provided the free text-messaging services at two parties in Arkansas after the final performance episode last week (according to the company and people at the events).

There appears to have been no similar efforts to provide free texting services to supporters of runner-up Adam Lambert. Subsequently, frustrated supporters have flooded online chat boards with messages claiming irregularities in the competition’s voting, and have circulated petitions in support of their preferred idol, not to force Allen out of the title, but to urge Fox to “be honest” about the situation.

This is way too much drama for one TV show, especially since it’s not happening in the show, but around it. I don’t think Fox is to blame however, I do suspect Kanye West. That’s right, karma’s a b–ch, and Kanye has taken his revenge on America for laughing at him on South Park. Remember the “Gay Fish Sticks” episode? We all thought Mr. West took it in stride but guess who’s got the last laugh? He’s probably sitting in a diamond encrusted tower somewhere in space looking down on us Earthlings, twiddling his thumbs laughing hysterically and maniacally plotting his next attempt at world domination. Idol was only the beginning. You didn’t think it was a coincidence that Allen remade “Heartless,” did you?

OK, you’re right. I made up that whole scenario but you have to admit, it was a good one. I don’t think voting for Idol is 100% fair in the sense that some people in certain areas probably have a better chance at getting their choices through than others, but I’m not mad that Allen won. It isn’t cool that AT&T allegedly didn’t provide equal opportunity in Lambert’s hometown, but it’s not that serious. At least Kris Allen is justifyably talented.

I mean who couldnt figure out something was wrong? Im from Arkansas and I did not care for Kris Allen..My pick was Gokey and when he got voted off I was all for Adam and he deserved to win..I know someone that voted 10,000 times for Kris..It is unfair and AI and AT&T needs to be reprimanded!

Kris Allen is so talented, beautiful voice, creativity, good looks and the ability to perform unplugged and sound incredible.
Adam has great range and he is very talented but he appeals to a much smaller audience, for me he’s too theatrical, too much “Queen”/”Kiss”style.
Looking forward to Kris Allen and Matt Giraud’s CDs.
They both do R&B material excellent.

Kris won fair and square, yeah, adam was the clear front runner but when it comes to who is more marketable, Kris is the clear winner. Adam will have great success on broadway but for me he wont make a big splash on the music scene. Congratulations Kris. I am still upset that Lil was voted off so quick.

If AT&T conspired to sabotage ADAM’s vote– it was very wicked of them to do so!…Why would they have been sooo fearful of ADAM’s potential WIN…because of an assumption (He’s Gay!) Wow People!! sooooooo what—He’s an Outstanding vocalist! Over Theatrical?!?!? Woww 2x!!! There are several “SUPER STARS” (Males &Females) whose stage performance is Shabby, Robotic and Stiff!!!! and lets not mention their Over Theatrical performance. Wellll—-At&t lets just sit back and witness where ADAM’s Singin or maybe Broadway Career “DRIVE” Him! >>>Much respect for you Kris for being dragged into this childish unfair game “Brought To You By” …ummm AT&T!! I’m sooo glad I don’t do business with them! Lately America have had enough ‘SHADDY-Down Hill Spiral Business’ that have come from corporate so called GIANTS— AT&T!
