Derek Luke Lands Role in Pilot Series

Derek Luke, the young star who broke out in roles in films like Antwone Fisher, and more recently, Notorious, has secured a starring role in Trauma.
The new series is an NBC pilot about a team of EMTs. Luke will play a trauma doc and if all goes well, it will be aired in the fall.
It’s great to see a young Black actor working. We rarely see Black actors in TV dramas, it’s always a sitcom. Derek Luke is talented so hopefully the pilot is a success. Black actors often don’t get respected until later on in their careers so it would be nice to see more diverse TV roles for talented African-Americans. We’ve made huge advancements on TV, but we still have a long way to go. Luke is helping to pave the way for a younger generation.
