Donald Faison Kind of Moves on From Scrubs

According to the Hollywood Reporter, ABC is in talks to renew the comedy Scrubs for a ninth season with some or all of the original cast members coming back full or part-time. For example, Donald Faison’s starring role as “Dr. Christopher Turk” will be downgraded from a permanent fixture to a recurring character if his own pilot goes well.

He’s stepped away from his starring role on Scrubs for his next project with ABC—a pilot with Cedric the Entertainer for a comedy show titled The Law. Faison and Cedric the Entertainer will play reserve Los Angeles Police Department officers.

I liked Faison’s character on Scrubs so it will be weird for me to see his character revolving. It sounds like Scrubs producers are reaching in terms of trying to keep original characters on by any means necessary. But I do hope Faison’s new pilot works out. Him and Cedric the Entertainer are an interesting match that might turn out to be unexpectedly funny.
