Housewives of Atlanta Want Their Money

Late last week NBC Universal announced a syndication deal for Bravo’s Real Housewives franchise that will have the famed series running five days a week beginning fall 2010.
Typically, when shows go into syndication actors, show owners, and writers are cut a check. However, since the show is a “reality series” the lines are a bit blurry and in short, the women aren’t getting any money.
That’s sent many a housewife up in arms – primarily those cast members for the franchise’s most popular group, the ladies of The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
Freddy O’s got the scoop:
“Some of the wives are pissed and have even tried to sue the network to get funds for syndication… Get this … The Wives are reality show stars and are not in the actors union, so they have no protection when it comes to getting money owed for syndication… Since they are not considered actors they are not entitled to syndication checks, they get all their money when they tape, after that the checks stop coming … I think that is so messed up… Bravo can sale their show to NBC which is a all new audience and they not make a dime… One of the wives told me when I called and told them after finding out while watching the Wendy show…”
Just how mad? Here’s one cast members comments:
“This is some bull shit, we’ve been fighting their as* for the longest to keep the show from going to syndication without us making a dime … Damn, we not getting a dime and they making all the money… WOW … They can play the show forever and we will never get a check that aint right”
That sounds like the type of housewife that would call someone a bald headed hooker, but since there’s no official name attached to it all I can do is speculate.
In any event, it would be a shame that the women won’t make any additional money. On the other hand, this is exactly why networks turned to reality series in the first place, no?

That’s what they get for airing all of their dirth laundry out for the public to see. People will do anythibng for money and when the checks stop coming, they want to trip like they were really actors. SMH at this buffoonery!!!

WoW that’s messed up I can’t believe they got these ladies like this especually Kandi being in the music industry I thought she would understand contracts however if they syndicate it I won’t watch anymore

thats so jacked tho. i didn’t even know about housewives other than ATL. i don’t even watch the others. i only support the girls in ATL (minus kim. “that’s a dirty low-down monkey with a wig on….” one of the top quotes of the season along with “who gon check me boo…”)
Those are the breaks in the t.v biz. The should not get money for going into syndication because it wasn’t in their contract. Just think if Survivor goes into syndication how many contestants would receive royalty payments for appearing. That would break the studio. Reality is low-budget for a high-return. I doubt if the RHW’s sue that they’ll have a leg to stand on.

That is why is was so important to JOIN THE SCREEN GUIDE the moment, they became “actresses” on reality tv. You would think some of the chickenheads would know that. People never protect themselves and then cry foul later. It is about knowing the business (and it is a business) of entertainment. It’s a shame, guess no one ever picked up a book on the subject.

these women were nobodies before (except kandi) this show started. they saw a chance to get out of athens and they jumped at it. i’m not surprised at this news, i am surprised since one of them always talking about her business mind. well only three of them need the money, one of them has a man with unlimited funds and one is independent. u figure it out.
That is real messed up! I watch their show all the time. They should gt a profit regardless those girls make the show. Kandi don’t need that extra stress right now.Where is the consideration for their families? No one works for free!
Big Poppa should have told Kim better…lol…they are so caught up on material things that they overlooked the real deal…THE CONTRACT!!!!….I like Kandi and I’m not dissin’ her, but the other ones need to stop loud talking and be about their business…

The Atlanta housewives all need to get pay weather they dump all they dirty lanudry and shows people that they live a higher price in there lifesytle. They should get paid just like everybody else who get on tv speading news about the president, they get paid (WHITE). They all have a good career with the show and withiout the show not just candie. Lisa is a reailty agent, she get paid anyway. sherra was marriage to a football player and have alot of goal in her life. Nene has a career and goal set for her life.
