Leaf’s Dream Begins on Dreamland Finale

Last night Leaf and Kia battled it out in the Welcome to Dreamland finale to find out who would be crowned the winner.

When Kia hit the stage, she finally showed the level of confidence she was criticized for lacking in previous episodes. As far as dancing goes she looked more Rihanna than Beyonce. That’s OK, though, because at least she sounded strong vocally on stage. Joining her act was Mario, who came out of nowhere and hit the stage to sing-a-long with the Team Phenzel representative.

Where as Kia offered more of what you’ll find on the radio, Leaf presented something more of the coffee shop variety. I might be alone in this, but for a second I couldn’t get past her look long enough to pay attention to the overall performance. With respect to her stylist, she looked like Andre 3000’s confused little sister.

I didn’t get it, but the crowd seemed to enjoy what Black Cyndi Lauper had to offer on stage.

One of the judges wasn’t nearly as moved as the crowd was, however. Kandi of Xscape and “No Scrubs” fame pointed out that vocally Leaf was a bit all over the place. I thought the same thing, but apparently shaky vocals weren’t enough to stop Leaf from taking the title for Team GSU and crowned the Queen of Dreamland.

That means Kia is back to the drawing board while Leaf starts recording her debut album.

Will you be on the look out for it when it drops?

Congrats to Leaf; but with Kia being my sis-in- law(my brother’s fiance) I believe she should have won. He performance was great and I think she did a great job. I wans’t really feeling Leaf’s performance because I couldn’t really understand what she was saying and her pitches were off a little, but the judges thought she was the better person so congrats to her!! Don’t worry we will be seeing Kia again!!

Congrats Leaf!!!! I think the best young lady won. Kia was good, but overall with her look, ability to play instruments, vocals and stage presence Leaf deserved it. SHE ROCKED THE CROWD!!! She is a total unique package and is a breath of fresh air that we haven’t seen before.

Congratulations to Leaf! The music industry has been a cookie-cutter experience for years….it’s nice to see someone rise to the top who doesn’t fit “the mold”.

LOVE LEAF!!!!

I think that it’s wonderful that real music and true talent is being recognized again. Leaf came in with her own style, own music and an awesome personality and won the hearts of the audience and the judges. Is this the resurgenceof real music??

Blessings to both, Kia and Leaf. Congratulations to Leaf.
It is so wonderful to see an artist that is Confident, Refreshing and Creative ..breaking through the norm. Leaf’s performance stood out to me because she had amazing stage presence, she made the song her own, she incorporated the guitar and her vocals were strong. I look forward to hearing more from Leaf and I am sure there is a HUGE market out here for Leaf’s style!!! Trust!
The decision makers within the music industry need to learn how to take risks the “cookie cutter” artist is getting old. People want something new…we need progression!!!

Wow i was wowed by Leaf’s performance.I can see going to her concerts would be lots of fun.I could even take my nieces and nephews. Clean stuff. How rare is that?I could take everyone. leaf is going to make a million with her clean cut ways. Now her performance was amazing. Some folks I was watching the show with, liked the way she looked, and thought she looked like a star-throwback to the fifties or something. They thought it was cute, personally I liked the way she looked when she came out her house the first day with her dress, and tennis shoes and natural hair. I thought wow,how beautiful and ladylike and atttractive is that. Forgiveme but do you have to look like a whore to be a singer?I just really love Leaf. I just really do. I want to hear her record. I want the record company to get behind her and give her her deal, videos, the whole works, promote her on the roof top,The Tonight Show, and the Late Late Show.I really want to see her on the cover of People Magazine.

Leaf is truly a breath of fresh air to music. She is what you call a real artist in that she writes her own songs and can play one mean guitar. Kinda reminds me of another musical genius songwriting singer named India Arie! Finally, an artist not caught up on money, looks, or whatever is in style, but one that is true to God, self and becoming the best of what you can be.

If you’re a Corrine Bailey Rae, India Arie, real artist fan you’ll truly love this woman because she’s on the same level.

While Kia was good, does the music industry need another Ciara, Rhianna clone?

Leaf’s voice is soulfully beautiful, and her acoustic guitar skills are insane. It’s time for BET to break the mold and to stop repeating what’s already out there. They should look for true artists, and Leaf is just the humble, meek, songbird that can lead the way.
