New Lineup Sounds Like Old News

For the second year in a row, 90210 is the centerpiece of the CW’s fall campaign.

The network has announced its fall lineup and as expected, 90210 will kickoff the fall schedule on September 8. The network also has high hopes for 90210’s spin-off series, Melrose Place.

If any of you are old enough to remember a time when Hammertime wasn’t known as a TV show, I’m sure you’re over there wondering why the opening sentence in this entry sounds like it came from 1992.

It’s nothing against series regular Tristan Wilds or guest star Lauren London, but really, I catch 90210 repeats on The Soap network all the time (don’t judge me). Did we really need another version of the show?

As if that weren’t enough, now they’re remixing Melrose Place.

What’s up next, folks? The return of Models Inc.?

90210 2.0 must obviously get good ratings, but what happened to an original idea? Moreover, what happened to pushing sitcoms that have them?

Maybe if show producers for The Game and Everybody Hates Chris regurgitated storylines about Brenda, Dylan, and kooky Kimberly perhaps they would still be on the air.

Thank goodness I’m not the only person that believes many of the networks are lacking originality. I expressed my disguss about this when I was informed that The Game would be taken off of CW and Melrose Place was on the Fall Line up. This is rediculous. If you watch Gossip Girls, 90210, The Hills, OC,etc., then I guess this is something that you will enjoy. But what about shows that are relatable, and bring attention to issues that we face in everday life? If you seen one you’ve seen them all. Why put the same thing out? I guess these networks are looking for shows that are in right now, because the shows that promised longevity aren’ t returning to the air this season. Oh yea, and what’s up with the lack of African American characters on these shows? Does everyone have a limit to one black person per show? Where are the African American sitcoms? I want to know what can we as African Americans, blacks, minorities do about this? THIS IS WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with you. How could they even think about taking The Game off air and leave Melrose Place and 90210 to air for another season. I used to love Melrose Place and 90210 back in the days with the original characters, but you couldn’t pay me to watch them shows today. It’s all about The Game. It’s an all black show, and I think that ever episode was perfect. It had me on the edge of my seat, laughing and there were some sad times eager for the next week to watch the next episode. This is a show that majority of everyone I talk to loves to watch. Leave The Game on it is THE BEST..NO LIE!!

I think that we always see posts like this on BET.com, but we have yet to see BET step up to the plate and save some of these shows from going down the drain. BET has a very good chance right now of saving one of those shows from cancellation, and I would very much like to see what they do now that the ball is in their court. June 30th will be the deciding day to see if BET can walk the walk, and talk the talk. We make all these posts about dying tv shows, but BET always picks up shows after their dead, rather than saving them. If BET allows The Game to slip away and die, I never want to see another person write anything on this site about black sitcoms dying. It’s time for BET to get an original sitcom. I know The Game is not originally a BET show, but most people didn’t even know about The Game before it came to BET.

I think that bet should pick up the game t.v. show because it is the only show that i have come to like in a very long time. It seems now that bet is now only playing the same wack shows back to back to back why not pic up something that we as black people can relate to in everyday life like stated in the previous comments. I wait for the week to roll by just so that i can catch the new episodes of the game. Who wants to watch melrose place and 90210 these shows are BORING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! please let those shows rest in peace where they belong, there is no one is day and age who could relate to these stupid shows. So please bet please continue to play the game t.v. show and not just the re-runs
