Danyl Johnson Wows Simon Cowell

It seems we have a new Susan Boyle on our hands. This time he’s younger, browner and not in need of a makeover.
Danyl Johnson, a 27-year-old schoolteacher from Reading, England, wowed Simon Cowell in his audition for England’s hit television show The X Factor.
Mr. Johnson, as his students would address him, took the stage modestly then proceeded to floor the judges with his rendition of Joe Cocker’s famous song “With A Little Help From My Friends.”
Based on him hopping around on stage, I imagine he was a bit more confident than 2006 when he first auditioned unsuccessfully.
Even notoriously harsh critic Simon Cowell couldn’t muster up a slight against Johnson. After Johnson received a standing ovation from the audience, Cowell said, “I’ve been doing this for how many years? Danyl, that was single-handedly the best first audition I’ve ever heard.”
Video of the audition has spread like wildfire. You can check out the impressive clip below:

Here’s to hoping American Idol can offer someone just as good when they debut (without Paula Abdul, sigh) in a couple of months.
