Alize Brings Fashion Reality Programming to Web

Published by Starr Rhett on Friday, July 24, 2009 at 11:41 am.

As much as I watch TV in the traditional sense, I forget that the internet has evolved so much that actual programming exists in cyber space. Enter Cashmere + Concrete. I recently discovered this web-based reality show created by Alize brand director, Michelle Murray (who, in 2007 recruited Wendy Williams to be the face of Alize), and it was interesting.

Cashmere + Concrete, which premiered on July 7, features 10-minute shorts starring eight young aspiring designers competing to become Alize’s style maven. The wannabe fashion powerhouses will embark on a journey to make a name for themselves and ultimately, one will win the grand prize of $10,000 (judged by a panel of fashion experts). The show features fashion personalities like Christian Sirian (Project Runway), Angel Chang (The Fashion Show), Erin Lucas (The City) and twins Dee and Ricky, newbie designers who are known for their Lego-inspired pins and other accessories seen on Kanye West (and commissioned by Marc Jacobs).

This may sound like your typical reality TV fashion competition knock off, but it really is good. Plus, it’s fascinating how they crammed so much into 10-minute blocks (I’m anticipating the next webisode). Webisode 7 (out of 12) airs next week but in the mean time, you can catch up at www.concreteandcashmere.com. Let me know what you think.

Kelly Rowland to Co-Host Bravo Fashion Reality Series

Published by Starr Rhett on Friday, February 20, 2009 at 4:19 pm.

Kelly Rowland and Isaac Mizrahi will be co-hosting and judging The Fashion Show, on Bravo. It’s a new series following professional designers striving to make their marks in the world of fashion. They will compete in a new challenge every week, and in the end, the winner will get the chance to have their designs sold for the mass retail market. I haven’t found any details on when this show will air but I’m already hating. It sounds like a knock off Project Runway. And no disrespect to Miss Rowland, but she’s not the first person who comes to my mind when I think of style. Do you think this show will last?
