Kanye West’s interview on The View kicked off with a discussion of how Barbara Walters looks in her bra and panties.

Wipe the drool from your mouths people – Babs was only poking fun at an old rumor about herself.

As for Mr. West, he was very mild mannered as he answered questions about his album, 808s & Heartbreaks. One thing I quickly noticed about the interview was that ‘Ye was very careful with how he spoke.

You would have thought he was interviewing for a job as a speech coach. It gave me hope for all of the functioning illiterates out in the music world.

As the interview moved forward Kanye touched on the death of his mother, American Idol champion Kris Allen’s cover of “Heartless,” his upcoming tour with Lady GaGa, and his new book, Thank You and You’re Welcome.

You can check out the interview below. Pay close attention to the quick bars Kanye spits for Ms. T-Shirt and Panties herself and the rest of women of The View.

American Idol Votes Rigged, Kanye’s Revenge

Published by Starr Rhett on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 10:56 am.

American Idol

It has barely been a week since Arkansas native Kris Allen was crowned 2009’s American Idol, and controversy already ensues. There’s a theory that AT&T, one of the biggest corporate sponsors of American Idol, rigged the outcome of this year’s competition by providing phones for free text messaging services, and lessons in casting blocks of votes at parties organized by fans of Allen.

According to an article published by The Los Angeles Times, American Idol Representatives of AT&T, whose mobile phone network is the only one that can be used to cast Idol votes, via text message, provided the free text-messaging services at two parties in Arkansas after the final performance episode last week (according to the company and people at the events).

There appears to have been no similar efforts to provide free texting services to supporters of runner-up Adam Lambert. Subsequently, frustrated supporters have flooded online chat boards with messages claiming irregularities in the competition’s voting, and have circulated petitions in support of their preferred idol, not to force Allen out of the title, but to urge Fox to “be honest” about the situation.

This is way too much drama for one TV show, especially since it’s not happening in the show, but around it. I don’t think Fox is to blame however, I do suspect Kanye West. That’s right, karma’s a b–ch, and Kanye has taken his revenge on America for laughing at him on South Park. Remember the “Gay Fish Sticks” episode? We all thought Mr. West took it in stride but guess who’s got the last laugh? He’s probably sitting in a diamond encrusted tower somewhere in space looking down on us Earthlings, twiddling his thumbs laughing hysterically and maniacally plotting his next attempt at world domination. Idol was only the beginning. You didn’t think it was a coincidence that Allen remade “Heartless,” did you?

OK, you’re right. I made up that whole scenario but you have to admit, it was a good one. I don’t think voting for Idol is 100% fair in the sense that some people in certain areas probably have a better chance at getting their choices through than others, but I’m not mad that Allen won. It isn’t cool that AT&T allegedly didn’t provide equal opportunity in Lambert’s hometown, but it’s not that serious. At least Kris Allen is justifyably talented.

The Cleveland Show Releases Trailer, Adds Reagan Gomez-Preston

Published by Starr Rhett on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 10:46 am.

As an avid The Family Guy fan, I’ve been on The Cleveland Show watch ever since I found out the character had gotten his own spin-off. I’m still in question about whether Cleveland was the right character to give his own show because he wasn’t as zany or funny as other Family Guy goofs like Quagmire or Herbert, for example. However, I do think it’s interesting that producers went for the less obvious choice, and look forward to seeing where the show goes. I previously blogged about Kanye West and Taraji P. Henson guest starring, and Nia Long and Sanaa Lathan being mainstay voices but I checked Fox’s website and got some new information.

Reports on the web had the show slated for a 2010 release, but Fox confirms the premiere date for this fall. It was also said that Nia Long was going to voice Cleveland’s teenage stepdaughter, Roberta, but the role has now gone to Reagan Gomez-Preston.

The premise of the show is that Cleveland Brown moves back to his hometown in Virginia with his 14-year-old son,  to marry Donna (voiced by Sanaa Lathan), a woman he was madly in love with in high school, because he made a promise to her that he’d always be there for her if the man she was originally with had done her wrong. The day came when Donna’s husband ran off, leaving her with a teenage daughter and young son. Now, she’s open to Cleveland and offered him another chance at love.  More interesting is the fact that his neighbors include a loudmouth redneck named Lester, a hipster wannabe named Holt, and a family of talking bears: Tim and his wife Arianna. The assortment of characters seems to stay true to the signature randomness that made The Family Guy funny so it might work with Cleveland. I’m still on the fence but only time will tell. Idol Recap, Kris Allen Covers Kanye West

Published by Starr Rhett on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 11:03 am.

In last night’s episode of Americal Idol, “the three amigos” vocally sparred, singing two songs each. In seasons past, the top three were allowed nine individual performances but where the music was scarce last night, the judges picked up the slack with excess banter. By the way, if I hear one more “dawg” from Randy Jackson, my head is going to explode, but I digress.

Danny Gokey performed “Dance Little Sister” and “You Are So Beautiful,” Adam Lambert performed U2’s “One” and “Cryin,” and lastly, Kris Allen sang “I Apologize” and “Heartless.” Yes, “Heartless” a la Kanye West. It sounds like an odd cover when you think of Kanye’s non-singing Auto-Tune version but Allen’s version was the highlight of my night. He added a rock spin and used his natural voice. He strummed the heck (for lack of a better word) out of his guitar and sang the song the way it should have been sung. Sorry Kanye, but you should have just played the writer/producer role with this one and passed it to someone else from the start.

Allen got love from all of the judges and for the first time this season, I paid attention to someone other than Lil Rounds. Tonight, we find out who will be in the final two. My money is on Kris Allen and Adam Lambert.

What do you think?

Sanaa Lathan and Nia Long Join Family Guy Spin Off

Published by Starr Rhett on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at 3:41 am.

I’m a Family Guy super fan so I was excited to hear that  Cleveland was getting his own show. The details are still a little sketchy but it’s slated to air in 2010. I posted a couple of months ago, that Kanye West and Taraji P. Henson are going to be guests on the show but I read some more cool news about the actual cast.

According to Buddytv.com, Sanaa Lathan and Nia Long have officially joined the crew. Lathan will voice Clevland’s wife, Donna, while Long will be Roberta, their teenage daughter. I’m still not sure how the Cleveland show is going to pan out because he’s not a Family Guy character that I would have given a spin off, but with the same writers, and a talented bunch of actors like this, it could possibly work. I can’t wait to see it.

Kanye and Taraji to Guest Star on Cleveland Show

Published by Starr Rhett on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at 12:58 am.

familyguykanyewest_l

According to Entertainment Weekly, Kanye West and Taraji P. Henson will be lending their voices to an episode of The Cleveland Show, set to air in 2010. The Cleveland Show is a spin off of Seth MacFarlane’s The Family Guy. Cleveland was the Griffin family’s slow-talking neighbor.

I’m a Family Guy fan, and of all the characters to give a spin off, I wouldn’t have chosen Cleveland, but I’m sure it will be funny. I can’t imagine that Kanye would play any other character than himself (or a spoof character very close to his real life persona), and as far as Taraji, she can’t do any wrong in my eyes (as far as acting is concerned). This will be a great opportunity to further expand her repertoire, I’m just sad we have to wait a whole year to see it.
