Real Chance of Love: Back to Shenanigans

Published by Starr Rhett on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 10:50 am.

Real Chance of Love debuted season two last week, and I promise I was trying hard to play the silent game. I was making an ill attempt at seeing how long I could last, not blogging about it but I’ve failed miserably. I couldn’t let one more episode pass without adding my two cents about the corniest brothers on Earth and the most shameless women I’ve ever seen on reality TV, which says a lot.

Last week’s debut broke reality TV records. Show Me, the blonde overly-tanned, self-proclaimed “ghetto drunk girl” became the first White girl kicked off reality TV for fighting and her victim, Vegas, became the first person kicked off reality TV for instigating. Did I just write that? Yeah, I did.

In last night’s episode, the girls—who have not been designated to either Real or Chance yet—had to show the brothers what they could bring to the table as a potential girlfriend. Most of the girls did something vapid—like Junk, whose ample booty lead a cheer (I guess she’ll end up in Smooth magazine one day), and Mamacita, who was so proud of her Mexican heritage that she brought them tequila shots. However, there was one girl (whose name I can’t remember) who did a haiku but of course, the Stallionaires didn’t know what a haiku was.

At this point in the game, you must have heard the phrase, “I Can’t.” That’s how I feel with regard to this show. But sadly, I’m still going to watch just to see how much worse it could get (sorry, I’m easily amused). There has to be a better way to get a big break in show business. I refuse to believe that anyone could really be attracted to Real, with his Vampire in Brooklyn thing going on, and Chance aka Sham’ron. And I won’t believe that women could be so desperate. These girls make the Flavor or Love girls look like a convent and Real and Chance almost make Flavor Flav look like a catch. Let us pray.

Real Chance of Love Season Two Has Been Casted

Published by Starr Rhett on Monday, June 29, 2009 at 11:00 am.

The news of a second season of Real Chance of Love wasn’t a surprise but man, these shows cast fast! The line up for season two is ready to go. Starting August 3, at 9PM, viewers will be privy to more back-stabbing, curseouts, meltdowns, blowups, fighting and general catty behavior from women vying for the hearts of Stallionaire brothers, Real and Chance. Why anyone would want to date either one of these guys is beyond me. However, we do know that most of the women on these shows are aspiring [insert entertainment job here], so that’s my guess. I suppose, pretending to actually want one of these guys is a last resort for some of these girls. Plus, we still haven’t found anyone as obnoxious as New York yet, and we all know from previous shows in this vein, that these girls are really trying to be the next break out reality TV star. Are you not entertained? I am!

Real Chance of Love Back For Season Two

Published by Starr Rhett on Friday, March 6, 2009 at 4:12 am.

Vh1’s Real Chance of Love has been greenlighted for a second season. Producers are currently in the casting phase so they may be coming to a city near you soon. If you saw the end of season one, you know that while Real chose Cornfed as his lady love, Chance decided not to go with anyone. I figured that Chance would probably be given another shot at finding love behind this, but how naive of me to think that Cornfed and Real could possibly work.

The romance track record for these shows is abysmal but the likelyhood for running into a third, maybe fourth season is always a sureshot. I sometimes secretly root for synthetic reality couples to work but they never do. Why is that? Is it because finding love in a rushed situation and unnatural setting is impossible? Maybe I’m reading too far into this. I guess I should be happy about more “reality” TV drama on its way to fuel my guilty pleasure. What do you think?
