Tatyana Ali Stars in BET’s Buppies

Tatyana Ali will be flexing her acting chops again for BET’s new webseries, Buppies. Ali stars as Quinci, the socialite daughter of a Hollywood celebrity who after being dumped by her fiancè, realizes that only her true friends and family still have her back while she’s trying to overcome adversity. Buppies will chronicle a bulk of that adversity as viewers watch Quinci navigate relationship drama with her dysfunctional but close knit friends as they work their way through the challenges presented to LA’s young Black power elite.
This series is the first original webseries to present an all African-American cast, and was created and produced by critically acclaimed filmmakers Julian Breece and Aaliyah Williams. Tatyana Ali and her sister, Anastasia Ali, also co-produced the series through their company HazraH Entertainment.
The goal is to usher in a new chapter in African American storytelling. Buppies is a good way to keep this focus, especially since it’s online. Webserieses don’t get abruptly canceled hence The Game and Girlfriends in their TV runs, so if this does well, then I’m sure it will last for a while or at least inspire other African American filmmakers to tell their stories too.
Buppies premiers tomorrow at Buppies.bet.com at 3pm, and will air a new episode every Tuesday at that same time.
