Today history will be made as the world collectively gathers around their respective TVs and computers to watch the memorial service for the world’s greatest entertainer.

Michael Jackson’s funeral promises to be the biggest since the ceremony honoring the late Princess Diana.

Arguably, the ceremony may even take on greater significance as Michael is not only the first individual of color to receive such attention in his death, but as an entertainer, not many black or white have achieved his level of celebrity.

Already the Jackson family has announced a star-studded line-up for his memorial service.

Mariah Carey, Usher, Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie, Smokey Robinson, Jennifer Hudson, and John Mayer have been confirmed to take part in the festivities.

It’s been rumored other celebrities like Beyonce will participate, but as of now that is still unconfirmed.

There’s also word that Jermaine Jackson may close out the service with a performance of Charlie Chaplin’s “Smile.”

Hopefully, just to lighten the mood, other Jackson relatives are allowed to perform. You all may think I’m clowning, but I think Rebbie Jackson should do “Centipede.”

Michael Jackson wrote that song and it makes you want to toss your RAID can out.

I’m just saying, let’s not make the whole event melancholy. I don’t think the King would want it that way.

even though i am only 14 years old i remember on my 8th birthday at my slumber party watching the thhriller video even though it scared me. My friends and i fastforwared and rewinded the video until we learned the hole dance… micheal jackson has always been my dance and life lesson inspiration…. i will miss him deeply even though i have never met him!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. i just think it is a dissapoint to society that when the he was alive that the tried to make this mockrany of him when he was charged with the sexual assault charges even then i alwaysed believed in him and did not think were true.
And now that he is gone mucully culcan wants to come out and say that micheal never did that to him.

I just wish he were here to see this, and to be able to hear all the love that is coming from the world now that he is gone so that he could rest in peace and know that know matter what he fufilled his destiny..

As I watch this beautiful home going celebration for Micheal Jackson, my eyes weld up not for his death, however, for the lonely young man that was sorely misunderstood in life. How people victimized him; how record labels owned him, and when he got tired and needed to take a rest, how they sued and scrutinized him. Micheal Jackson was a person that needed a huge level serenity in his life, and he shelled out millions of dollars to find it, though he never did. He was watched like a hawk through the worlds microscope, he was dissected by the media, but still he proceeded. I love you Micheal, and you are surely in a better place!

Why? Said on

Is it just me, or do you think that female celebrity singers (in particular) asked to perform at the funeral/memorial of an artist could manage to pay their respect to that person/family/loved ones by ensuring that their personal appearance is conducive to the event at hand, versus being dressed as though a strip club revue is soon to follow? In other words, cover up your body appropriately to show, at a minimum, self-respect if it’s that darn difficult to extend respect to those who are also in mourning.

I sat infront of my television today and watched the funeral, it was so sad, but cheerful in some ways, the love and appreciation that was show to Micheal Jackson, I remember at the closing of the ceremony, paris Jacksonwent up and gave her speech about her father, and the love he had for them, i cried so hard, its unbelievale, the feeling that one person has made on the world, My prayers Goes out to the families and friends, i grow up listening to MJ, all my life MJ has made a great impact on my life….Mj i will always love you……you live on in our lifes.

Ok look, there are millions NO correction— “Trillions” of fans world wide..!.One man was most dominate in entertainment then any super bowl or boxing match,Or anything by far.!
I’m just a humble white man from Ohio born in 1978,so it is my pleasure to say Michael had something that no other before him nor after may ever have again,What Michael had goes beyond just talent alone. The man was magical,But no illusions was ever created during Michael’s long career on stage.

Odds are my comments will not be read by anyone from BET or anyone of importance,But just in case it does happen tell Michaels family i said my heart goes out to them and there entire family,For i too know what its like to lose someone that’s closer then anything else to your heart,i’m sure this has been said in one way or another worldwide.

in the end its us that have to change the world and it truely doesn’t matter if your black or white, i believe that’s was michaels intentions, his vision one that will be timeless for many generations to come.

(P.S.) any chance on a marathon of michael jacksons moonwalker UNCUT ever being shown on the air again that was a timeless event for me growing up i haven’t seen it in so long.

Thank you, Michael Jackson, for the music and love that you shared with us for the short time that you were here with us. There are simply no words. God bless you.

I am still in shock the Michael has left us. I could not bring myself to cry, but my heart is so heavy. I became a fan of Michael Jackson with his Thriller album. After that, like any other fad, or trend things died down. But no matter what he did I always loved to watch him dance or hear him sing. This man was truly blessed with the gift of song. Although he has never been in my home physically, I grew up with him in my home via T.V., radio, and as time progressed, the internet. It has been continuous. That’s what made him feel like family (to me). Because seeing him so much and practically all of my life, I even found myself saying, “Now what did Michael do this time?!” Or I would stop in my tracks to watch him perform– Just as I would any other family member. To close, I just want to say thank you Michael for bringing me so much joy through your music and dance. We will all one day have you again. Until then, we will enjoy your spirit with a smile and a heavy heart.

In all his trouble times of being draged to court I for one always stood by him
and believed he was innocent.
He was humble and very emotional.
My memorable time is the conert in Southafrica which I consider one of his
best conerts and the interview with Oprah.
One gets humbled looking at the number of people that mourned with his family and the world at large.
What a LEGEND.

Michael’s memorial service was sooooo moving! The speakers and performers were dignified and spectacular. My husband cried when Paris spoke about her love for Michael. Michael’s siblings and children looked so beautiful on the stage. I cried so hard at the end of the service because it became very clear that Michael Jackson DIED. I just can’t stop thinking about him. Anyhow, I will continue to pray for the family’s strength, comfort, and that the media gives them the space to grieve. I miss you and love you Michael Jackson!
