Tiny & Toya: What Did You Think?

Published by Starr Rhett on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at 11:00 am.

I initially imagined that Tiny & Toya would be more like the babymama version of Laverne and Shirley, but with a pretentious twist (like the rest of the world). However, the first episode was more interesting than I anticipated.

The show chronicles the lives of good friends, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle, TI’s alleged wife, and Antonia “Toya” Johnson-Carter, Lil Wayne’s ex-wife and first child’s mother. In last night’s premier, we got a first glimpse into each woman’s world. Tiny is dealing with her now incarcerated “husband” preparing to go to prison in addition to her father having Alzheimer’s disease, while Toya struggles with a drug addicted mother.

What I like so far, is that each woman has her own identity and they both seem very down-to-Earth. Tiny reminded us in the opening credits, that she had her own career and money before TI, and Toya was Lil Wayne’s teenage love (from back in the CMB days).

It’s not ostentatious like The Real Housewives of Atlanta, and Tiny and Toya actually act their ages. Sorry drama addicts, I don’t think you’ll be seeing too much cattyness this season. I’m definitely tuning in next week. What did you think?

Tiny and Toya airs Tuesday nights on BET at 10pm ET

I AM ONLY 14 YEARS OLD AND I HAVE BETTER TASTE THEN MOST OF YOU!!!!

I liked the show, it’s entertaining to look at ghetto black people, especially Toya, who is just another hoodrat from New Orleans, Wayne may be her first love, but many have hit. It’s entertaining cause they are ignorant and don’t know it….. i see money really can’t buy class, and Tiny looks so much like a pig, it’s fun to stare at.

Wow, after reading the comments here. To all those with such negative comments I’m ashamed of you. People you have got to stop hating one another. They are going to rip black people apart in the next few years because we will not love another. Stop the maddness. We have got to stay together and accept one another for who we are. For those of you who had negative comments abou the way they speak, I suggest you start giving English classes for free to help this generation. I always try to correct them especially when they solicit something to me. They think I’m a black panther but I’m just a black who cares. Once, I saw child walking in the hot sun, instead of talking I did something, I took her into the shoe store since I was headed that way and bought that baby some shoes. Be part of the solution not the problem. As black women we have everyone disrespecting us. Everyone, rappers, baby daddy’s, our parents, loved one’s, and everyone else. We have got to lift our people no longer asking for a handout from Whites. Help your neighbor and that neighbor should help someone else. They are gunning for us and separation will lead us right back into a modern day slavery. Keep your eyes on the Healtcare Reform because we are in trouble being the most overweight group of people of them all. Sista’s love another. my blog: http://toriweightloss.blogspot.com/

Tiny you rep georgia girl!and Toya sound like a savannah georgia girl both woman were excellent to all you haters that was fed with a silver spoon get off of it they are real not fake .i could relate You Go Girls! Rep the South that is how we get down it is what it is…..

Keep doing what you are doing .The show was real life. Both woman showed expression of what really goes on in a family. Some people do not want to face that point in their lives yet I appreciate the realness. When Kesha Cole had her issues they did not say anything about her ghettoism in which we as a people face all these issues SO BELIEVE YOU ME You have my families eyes for the season and we live BET>>>>>>>>

OMG! I knew from the promos that I wasn’t going to like this show, but when Tuesday night rolled around, I decided to watch it to see what Tiny and Toya were really about. Turns out my initial impression was correct. Tiny and Toya both have money… WHY NOT GET AN EDUCATION?!?! they both have children and they need to show their kids that there’s more to life than being a rap star. just because your parents have a certain profession doesn’t mean that you have to have it or that you will be successful in it like them. i am so disgusted with BET right now! serioiusly, if the network wants to broadcast a show that deals with real african-american issues, PICK UP “The Game!” That show showcases african-americans with money (like Tiny and Toya), who deal with personal issues (like Tiny and Toya), but are educated and articulate (UNLIKE Tiny and Toya). BEt, you’ve got to do better!

Tiny and Toya are the most ignorant and ghetto-minded chicks. I couldn’t believe that blacks like this still exist. Frankly, I don’t think anyone refers to Toya as Lil Wayne’s “baby mama”…I think she’s just living in the past and gave herself this title to sort of validate herself. These two are not setting good examples for themselves or their children.
