Terrence J Talks Working With The Legendary CherPublished by Clay Cane on Friday, January 14, 2011 at 1:00 am.
Terrence J has truly been spreading his acting wings. He is currently in the new season of The Game and had a role in last year’s Stomp The Yard. But, late last year he had an unexpected role in Cher’s Golden Globe-nominated film Burlesque. The movie received three Golden Globe nominations including Best Motion Picture in the musical or comedy category.
Terrence J played Dave, the house DJ at the burlesque club. He had a pivotal scene with Cher as she sang her power ballad, “You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me.”
The original diva took the time to talk with Terrence, passing on advice. “She told me to be myself. She said a lot of times people will try to get you to be somebody else or what’s hot at the time. She said to always be yourself and march to your own drum,” says Terrence. “She was really sweet, humble and really encouraging. I had about four scenes in the movie with her and she was really nice and amazing. It was a great experience!”
Burlesque is definitely a different audience for Terrence. A film starring Christina Aguilera and Cher is bound to be a success, but even Terrence was surprised at the reception. “I was really excited about taking the role and doing it. I knew it was going to be a big movie, but I didn’t know it was going to get nominated for all these Golden Globes. It’s huge.”
Congrats to Terrence J! Hopefully Cher will stop by “106 & Park” one of the days!
