Will Smith Holla At Your Boy!

Barring a Screen Actors Guild strike Will Smith might go from being a Man in Black to the Man in Black in an upcoming film Oscar-winning director Steven Spielberg is planning to do on the Chicago 7.
Smith has been pegged to play Black Panther Party co-founder Bobby Seale in this true-life story about the trial of Seale, Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin and others who were charged with conspiracy, inciting to riot and various other charges in connection to the riots that took place at the 1968 Democratic Convention in Chicago. At this point the project is rumored to be on hold but Seale wants Mr. Smith to holla.
“I definitely need to talk to him,” Seale, who co-founded the Panthers with Huey Newton, told me a few weeks ago. Seale, who had minimal participation with the “Chicago 10″ movie that premiered at Sundance last year, was not particularly happy with that project and wants the real story told. He’s currently working on a book about that experience. Seale, who was tried separately from the other defendants, defended himself and was subsequently sentenced to four years in jail for contempt of court.
Carl Lumbly played Seale in an HBO version of this trial, “Conspiracy: The Trial of the Chicago 8.”
In other Smith news, Francis Lawrence, director of “I Am Legend,” announced over the weekend at Comic-Con in San Diego that there will be a prequel to that film and that Smith’s character, Dr. Robert Neville, would be a part of it. He’s hoping Smith will be available.
Smith can next be seen in December’s “Seven Pounds,” a film about a man who changes the lives of seven strangers. Smith’s costars include: Rosario Dawson, Woody Harrelson and Michael Ealy.
Will Smith is a good actor and all, but he needs to lay back and direct. It’s not all about HIM. There are so many young brothas (of all races) who need a breakout role. He shouldn’t be the only n*gga who is good enough to act.
I’m tired of seeing the same black actors in every movie. What’s next? Jennifer Hudson playing Lena Horne in a biopic? Gimme a break!
And if you all disagree, I respect that. But think about it from the point of view of a struggling actor. (I’m not, but my friends are). It is SO TOUGH to get a movie role because the same people hog all the good roles. And for those who say it’s all about notoriety, you’d be surprised to know that a lot of people WANT to see new faces.
Will Smith a Black Panther? He is a great actor, but him playing somebody militant is not him. I seen Ali and he was not militant enough.
Who better to play a Black Panther. Will Smith is one of the most gifted actors to come out of hip hop. Unlike Mmmmm, I enjoyed Will Smith’s portrayal of Ali. I’m old enough to remember what the real Ali was like, and Will nailed it. Also, an actor’s range is not limited to how he is in real life. It has to do with the emotional and psychological experiences he’s able to bring to the work. A lot of actors are very shy people privately, but when they are in their craft, you’d never know it. Big Will can handle it and anything that Bobby Seale shares with him can only help.
…peace, is there any role will can’t play. you can see why he was hollywood Alpha Dog last year. my question is when is oscar gonna come calling.

If you noticed, and maybe you haven’t with all of your complaining, Will Smith is NOT the only black actor out there. Don’t discount Will because he is on a grind right now and is smart enough to actually OWN the rights to all his movies which pays him even more in the long run.

THATS THE POINT OF A GREAT ACTOR, YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO SEE THEM IN A ROLE OFF RIGHT, THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO PROVED TO YOU IN THEIR MOVIE, THAT THEY ARE THE CHARACTER THEY ARE PORTRAYING!!! Far as Ali go, I don’t think he was supposed to play a militant person anyway. Ali stood for someone who believed in certain issues and he stuck to that. Not necessarily a militant though….I thought he did a great job as Ali and he probably should of won the oscar over Denzel that year.

Honestly I truly can’t see him playing a militant. His wife Jada, YES because her mom used to be a black panther and Jada has always been militant, hence her friendship with Tupac, whose mom was also a black panther. I look back at Bad Boy I & II and Will trying to be all hard and talk slang and it wasn’t natural like it was for Martin Lawrence. I see him as a nerd trying to be hard – and I’m not knocking him in the least bit, it’s just I feel you have to have a certain swagger about you that’s natural to pull off certain rolls. I’m not saying he has to be all ghetto and illiterate or anything like that either, his personality is just goofy and that’s why I’m having a hard time picturing him as a Panther. I guess I’ll have to wait and see and hopefully he’ll prove me wrong.
I think Big Willy is a great actor and for those of you who don’t know,just look at the movie 6 degrees of seperation. When I saw that movie I was convinced that he was a good actor.He has had some good movies and some not so good movies,but as he gets older he will get better.The more movie roles he is offered and he accepts the more better he will get. I bet a lot of people said he couldn’t even act,but I guess they were wrong.As long as he has the support of his wife and family he will be that awesome actor that I and a whole lot of people seem to think he can and will be.So to the nay-sayers that seem to think that he is hogging up the screen,Stop Hating!I think he has the potential and acting ability to play Seale.And his Jada will make sure it comes out right,because as they say every good man has a good women. So I say to you Will keep on being the person you are because yu have many more goals to reach,and keep up the good work.Oh and by the way he was excellent in Bad Boys 1&2 and I can’t wait till he and Martin take it to the next sequel.

To the comment regarding Will Smith letting other actors have a chance to shine. It’s not Mr.Smith or any other actors stopping us from making it in Hollywood. Irt is Hollywood itself. This is actullay something actors and actresses of color have spoken about on numerous occasions. If you look at the history of Holloywood you can actually see this to be true. You have a hand full of popular Black stars that will be embraced by Hollywood at one time. We as a race are a threat to White America.This brother has helped open the door so others can have a chance. Sadly we have to continue to strive to be better than those around us especially if they are White. We live in sad world but we must make sure we stay true to the game. When we knock each other they enemy wins.
I think Will will be perfect in that role. He has shown he has the potential to be a great actor. Zack is just hatin,and he isnt even an actor Will has paid his dues and I think he should get all the good roles if he is approached. Now is his Will deserves all this and more.Congratulations to you Wiil Smith.
