Black Is the New Black? French Vogue Goes Blackface
Published by Marcia Cole on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at 4:31 pm.
So in this month’s French Vogue, Dutch model Lara Stone is painted in dark makeup, a la blackface. Some are outraged. Others think it’s just art. We think it only goes to show that every body looks better with a little black in them. See some of the shots, courtesy of Jezebel.com, photographed by Steven Klein and styled by the magazine’s editor-in-chief, Carine Rothfield.

We’re not offended by this as, say those folks in Australia who performed a Michael Jackson song in true blackface.

But what do you think? Read more about it on Ambermag.com.

they couldn’t find any BLACK models?! i don’t understand…black skin, hair, culture is good enough for ART but when it’s time to put their money where their mouth is…they come up short. not feeling it.
This is not art, this is sad, we have a million beautiful black women! And, sadly to say they couldn’t use their natural beauty! Not, surprising ‘white’, people will never want a black person to feel and look beautiful, unless they support or represent beauty in their own way! Hitler, theories never died, it was just adapted by the modeling industry and the media!
Mr President and you think that race is not a issuse please and people putting black face on white models and acting like Micheal Jackson they want to be so much like use but can’t. We as Black American better get it together and help each other out because we are the most hated race and I know why because we are smart and we know how to survive. Wake up Black People Wake up. before it is to late
THAT IS NOT ART. THAT IS RACISM AT ITS HIGHEST AND DISRESPECT. They are NO BLACK MODELS to use. That is completely ridiculous. People wake up.
Being Black is looked at around the world as nothing. they see us as jokes and we play into it we have to make them respect us. why not hire a black model, If you need a black anything not to put us to work.
if they needed a black face, anything not to put us to work.
It goes right back to slavery Jim Crow they could have hired someone black!!!!!
Seriously though?
It’s just art….relax.
If they wanted to paint a white girl black, nooooo one would say anything. Besides, the girl is OBvioulsy diggin it….
This is the world we living IN.
Why is that they can do things like that?? but let a black man or woman paint their face “white”… The Demons will do everything in their power to remove us.
This is blatant Racism if yuh ask me.
That’s sad..I have never seen a black person painted white for art, unless it’s a comedy people can blow off. Jashauna, they did paint a white girl black. If they painted a black girl white the event would not be taken seriously. White people control what goes out, i know it would never pass the editors desk…history’s slow to change, but we will not give up or get fooled by the Michael Steel’s of the world.
What about ice cube reality show.they painted a white girl black etc.black –
