We heart Tracee Ellis Ross for always beautifully representing the natural brown bellas with her lush mane. Tracee rocked this bohemian-esqe hairstyle at the special screening of The September Issue last month, but also opted to don the style for what looks like a casual night out on the town. We think she looks oh so cute ! What do you think? Are braids a good look for Tracee?

Ever since the 1970s, the phrase, “I’m going natural” has been a familiar liberating declaration women of color have made from Long Island to Long Beach. In our quest, we’ve traded in relaxers for hot combs, twists, braids, natural curls, or Afros. Over the years celebs like Jill Scott, India.Aire, Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, and Oprah have shown us the beauty of rocking a natural mane (even if it’s underneath a weave). In the process, women who have made the transition to chemical-free hair have discovered their true hair texture, and more important, how to care for it. The biggest surprise for many? Natural hair requires a rapier-type precision in care. With hair textures as varied as our skin tones and personalities, one hair care regimen, say experts, does not fit all. In fact, with natural hair, it’s more than essential to marry the right products to your mane. Here, renowned natural hair specialist Anu Prestonia, founder of Khamit Kinks in Brooklyn, New York, offers solutions to the most common natural hair care problems. Click here to read more.
