The Beckham effect has struck again.

First it was the tight trunk … We thank you, David Beckham. 

Men are definitely wearing tighter underwear these days and we think it’s yummy. And because a lot more men are confident about their underwear, they’re more confident about their bodies.

More men go to the gym and keep fit, and they’re proud of their physiques. It’s reflected throughout clothing. They’re even buying into color.

The demand for tight clothing has extended to T-shirts. The deep V-necked figure-hugging T-shirt is a huge hit this summer. American Apparel and Urban Outfitters offer many different looks.

Guys have always wanted to decorate their necks and this is another example of drawing attention to that area. We’ve seen ties, bow ties, summer scarves …

Now it’s the ‘Deep V’, with the V plunging to a depth of about 10 inches.

Sometimes these look good.

Most of the time … they make the man look a bit feminine, to me. Maybe that’s because I tend to wear plunge V-neck shirts myself, and seeing that on a man makes me go hmm.

I think Nelly rocks the trend better.

Not too low, not too much skin, not at all feminine.

Dudes, if you’re feelin’ this look, make sure it fits your body. Don’t buy it too tight either, even if you have a Nelly build. These don’t look good baggy and look best when not tucked in.

And plain old cotton is what you want, boys. Nothing fancy. White looks great – but unless you’re very good at keeping your whites white, I recommend you wear black. A nice black, fitted T-shirt makes any man look twice as good.

A weave-less Beyonce was spotted in NYC carrying my her D&G large Miss Pocket patchwork snakeskin bag and rocking the Obama “Progress” t-shirt – all with of course, 4-inch heels. Does this chick even own a pair of tenny shoes?

Girl is bad. And might I add the hottest chick in the game, wearing Jay’s chain.

No, I don’t want her man. Yes, I have my own Obama tee.

The only thing missing is The Purse.

You can forget the $4Gs for the real one, so check the $189 knockoff from BeBe. 

I love the whole hippy look and feel of it. Plus, it will go with almost any outfit and fits during any season. Cute, right.

Toccara seems to kind of want to go classy with this one, and homie nails it. Love the color. Refreshing to see someone other than Beyonce rock this style of dress.

Venus Williams made a grand entrance looking quite regal in her sequin dress with empire waist. Girl knows how to work her long lines.

Ashanti looks adorable and summery and pretty boring.

Only two cute things caught my eye. One is tall, dark and handsome … and the other is silver, black and 3-inches.

I adore dresses like that – no elastic, nothing constraining. It is just nice casual summer wear. And it looks like Halle isn’t even trying.

Now add a lil’ something resembling a waistline to Mya’s sexy number, and you get loose, comfy and shape.

Great Cause, Good Clothes

Last night Alicia Keys threw something called The Keep a Child Alive Black Ball.

The girl is killing the industry in grace and leadership. Looks like her style game is on the up and up, too. The beaded plunging neckline and defined draped  hips accentuates all her right places.

HOT.

More so because she continues to flaunt that high forehead with no shame. I’ll do the damn same.

Jennifer looks pretty, but I can’t pretend I’m a huge fan of these New York & Co. style giraffe prints. However, it’s nice to see our lady in something softer.

She looks very comfy. The defined waist, cupped breasts, structured armor look is not always necessary.

Great show! Elegant, with just a pinch of ghetto fab!

Still, I think no awards show can beat the one where Monique performed the entire dance sequence of Bey’s “Crazy In Love” with all big girls. So fun.

And now for my fashion rundown …. 

I love Rihanna’s dress because it’s totally what I would wear to a summer red carpet event. Fabulous!

Let’s assume Terrence Howard’s cane is functional because the man looks seriously smooth. I miss the slick back though.

Clearly, Trina’s outfit is a shirt. Still adorable. LOVE yellow on our skin complexion.

I’m so-so on Keri Hilson’s silver jumper. Very disco-ish and crotch pull does look uncomfy, but wow she lights up the room!

Cute as a button. Jordin Sparks’ red number is a classy choice.

J-Hud looks uncomfortable, but hey — fashion hurts, remember.

Solange Knowles clearly inherited great genes. As for the dress – questionable. As for the weave – out of control.

Omarosa, work those girls for every dime they cost ya.

Jacki-O’s dress reminds me of the fake LV bag I had in high school. Chanel?? Next time just wear the Chanel bag. That way we all know you’re wearing Chanel.

It may not be elegant, but I freakin’ enjoyed Lil Mama’s ridiculous getup. Complete with the little red Chucks. Man, it’s ugly. But, I think Teyana Taylor, Kelis, Kid Sister, and a lot of other fearless Black girls would be proud!

Gabrielle Union is one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood, hands down. Natural, God-given beauty. Loves it.

In L.A. at the Cartier Charity Love Bracelet Launch…

Kimora in basic black. The slit makes the dress fit her poorly … too clingy across the middle. Other than that, life is good in the fab lane. Especially now that Djimon Hounsou is in her bed.

I want everything about Ashanti’s outfit. The adorable white dress, the jewelry (Djimon, er Diamonds are a girl’s best friend!), even the pom-pom shoes.

Zoom in. The hard hair ruins everything good. Agree?

You spend hours, er days planning the perfect outfit, only for someone to show up in exactly the same thing. Ugh. Sucks hard.

Both looked oh so cute in the same sassy, black and gray jumper skirt.

Who wore it better? Of course our girl Gabby killed it.

So, what to do if someone at the same party is wearing the same dress as you?

Three solutions:
1) ROLL OUT!
2) ROLL OUT & RETURN IN SOMETHING HOTTER!
3) HAVE YOUR EGO BOOSTED BY YOUR GIRLS. Puh-leeze, you look wayyy hotter than her. Who is she, anyway? That trick can’t see you. You’re on the cover of Essence mag, girl! You hear me! You’re the sh*t.

I think Gabrielle chose the latter. All good.

Mine?

Excluding my excellent shoe collection, I am a fashion nightmare. Kidding.

Um. Middle school baggy jeans. Wearing brown eyeliner as lip liner. Cringe. The layered sock look. Black slouch sock on bottom, white one on top and then flip-flop the look on the other leg for added effect. Ohh, yeahh. Good times.
