Michelle Obama: The Dress Was Dreamy

January 21st, 2009

Was Michelle Obama’s Jason Wu the gown of our dreams?

Maybe not, but she looked stunning.

Michelle Obama gown

Michelle’s dress, I loved it. I think it’s pretty and looks pretty on her.

I also thought it was very, very safe choice and a lil’ boring. It was nice, but nothing  breathtaking. Out of all those sketches, an all the options she must have had, I just hoped she’d pick something more … you know, hotter.

It was one step away from a regular, silky little black dress. Something brighter, or with a bit of glitter detail would have been nicer to me. Oh well. There’s always four years from now. Sigh.

What did you think?

Plus, more fashion looks from Michelle’s inaugural weekend. Her daytime suit was stunning. Don’t you agree?

Kadi.

The dress doesn’t even matter. I am so proud of her and her husband that they could have shown up in fishing clothes and i still would have had tears in my eyes just knowing a black man runs the country!!!!! Please pray for our new first family…God saw fit to bless us with them all.

I am not knocking the two designers–the dress and the suit she was wearing but I was not feeling either. The dress was just that-a dress. Please do not get me wrong, I am not trying to knock anyones talents, dreams or goals but I would have pick something else. I was not at all impress. I was hoping she was going to go for something more sexier or elegant. IMO I was hoping she was going to go with Mr. Michael Knight. I pictured a dress from him that was going to jaw dropping

I didn’t care for the dress at all…I was hoping that she would of worn something with more color, sparkle and glitz. The dress was disappointing but she and her husband looked so loving and caring together as they danced last night. The look in their eyes as they danced in each other’s arms made the choice of dress a small factor to me! May God Bless them both

I think that the dress was beautiful and elegant….just like our First Lady.

I thought FIRST LADY MICHELLE’S DRESS WAS BEAUTIFUL,just like she is. The lady has said over and over that she and her family will remain grounded. She went with a designer that she felt comfortable with and everyone should respect that .Maybe she did not want to be caught up in the big name designers right now.We should keep Our First Family in our prayers and wish them the very best.

Michelle Obama looked stunning i was very impressed.

… anticipating her wearing something more ‘flashy’ loses focus. After all her role isnt the 1st Lady of High Fashion.

but i guess this is a fashion blog so maybe i’m losing the focus saying its not the most important thing!! either way she looked lovely…

I waz Aiiiiiight!! You KNOW she could have found a better dress. But she she has to keep it modest. It looked good on her. What she needs is a real good stylist.

The gown? After all we went through to get in there? We are worried about a gown? She could wear a sheep’s behind and I wouln’t care. What I do care about is the fact that for the first time ever I can watch such a momentous occasion with my children and see brown faces that resemble mine and know in my heart that we have arrived to finally paint the white house black!!
Go critique someone else !!

I agree. Michelle Obama is a beautiful woman, and this dress just did not complement her at all. In reviewing the videos she doesnt even look that comfortable or confident in it or moving it around. The dress looks very heavy and boring, and it just doesn’t flow with her strong presence. Anyway, in the future, I think her wardrobe choices will improve or she’ll be more selective with designers. Anyway, I believe that maybe they can be sampling different designs and colors to get public opinion and response, and maybe harmonize the publics liking and her style and really make some great pieces for her. Just a thought. In any case, she’s beautiful, accomplished, and has the brightest part of her future ahead of her. Pierre

I thought our First Lady looked absolutely stunning in that beautiful gown, Her presence displays class and her demeanor is untouchable by most! I am so proud to be an American and be priviledged enough to be a part of history in the making. I thought the First Family represented us all throughout the day w/every step they took and every outfit they wore. You go girl and continue to represent all African American women w/style, flair and class.

Michelle looked like a FIRST LADY should ,regal and elegant. Not like some hoochie in a red dress. I hope she inspires young sisters to carry themselves with grace, class and elegance. Because at the end of the day, I want a woman like HER to be my wife and the mother of my children…not some tacky uneducated, fried chicken wing eating, bad weave, too tight pants wearing, can’t take her nowhere but the rib shack, already got 2 baby daddies ghetto bird.
