Though I am still waiting on my chance to get some sweet tea and chop it up with V103’s newest star Egypt Sherrod, I take comfort in knowing that her busy schedule is filled with giving back to her community. And therefore I will await my chance.

The outspoken media personality recently launched a new give back initiative giving young people the chance of the lifetime:

Fifteen bright and eager Atlanta area students were invited to join some of Atlanta’s media elite, including this writer, for a two-day boot camp compliments of the Egypt Cares Family Foundation titled 1^st Annual Rising Media Stars Bootcamp. Egypt Sherrod, host of HGTV’s “Property Virgins” and V-103 Atlanta radio personality was joined by colleagues at CBS Radio’s V-103 FM and WAOK AM, HGTV, Fox 5’s Good Day Atlanta, rolling out magazine and Moguldom Media to enrich the group with an intense program – even creating their own dream board and filming a commercial – that provided a “bird’s eye view” of careers in media from radio, TV to print and digital. They were treated to behind-the-scenes tours, tutorials and lunch provided by Harold’s Chicken on Edgewood Avenue and Panera Bread.

“I am overwhelmed with pride by the group of bright and ambitious teens who joined us for this year’s Rising Media Stars Bootcamp. To see how eager they were to soak up all the knowledge and information that was put before them in two action-packed days was veryinspiring.
