Artist Spotlight: Young Meio “I’m A Star” featuring Pooch Hall, David Mann, Kel Mitchell & More!

Published by Gyant on Monday, April 9, 2012 at 7:03 am.

There’s a hot new kid act in the city emerging on the scene. His name is Young Meio, and I hear he’s something special.

From the homie Freddyo.com:

The straight “A” honor roll student recently shot his latest video in Atlanta for “I’mmA Star” featuring Pooch Hall (“The Game”) playing the role of  a little league coach; David Mann ( Tyler Perry’s “Meet the Browns”)  playing the roles of  drummer/referee; Kel Mitchell (  ”Kenan and Kel” ) playing the role of a coach and the Tri Cities High School band.
Here are exclusive pictures for you to include on your website. Yung Meio is on his way to the top and the sky isn’t the limit for this young star.

Having already performed countless times throughout the Southeast Region, Mieo has hit the stage with Hip-Hop Heavyweights such as Future, Ace Hood, 2 Chains, Akon, Yo Gotti, Young Joc, Da Brat, Rocko, Travis Porter and Gucci Mane.

While gifted beyond his years, in both music, and football, his second love, he’s a true humanitarian of the highest kind becoming a steadfast advocate against bullying. Devastated by the news that his sister’s best friend committed suicide to escape being bullied, “Yung Mieo” chose to transform his music movement into an anti-bullying campaign.

Is He Next: @OfficialKadis Steps On The Scene W/ “Bugatti Body”

Published by Gyant on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at 1:31 pm.

Written By Gyant.

There’s not many times in music where I hear something that excites me, but after hearing a track I discovered on twitter, I knew I had to put you all onto someone pretty dope. His name is Kadis and though you’ve probably never heard his name you definitely know his music.

A budding producer along side his production partner Sean from Kadis & Sean have production credits on artists projects like Lil Wayne, Busta Rhymes, Estelle, Jo Jo and many more, Kadis is finally prepared to stand in front of the board to emerge a star.

His new record, “Bugatti Body” is uptempo track sure to be an addition to your playlist. “Buggatti” [which you can watch the video for here] is a hit plain and simple. The dance inspired track is currently gaining momentum, and I hear some exciting opportunities are coming up from Kadis as he prepares his brand for musical dominance.

Listening to the pulsating electro-staccato beats of “Bugatti Body,” one instantly realizes that Kadis is an artist whose innovative sound embodies the raw energy to turn the page in the book of music. With aspirations of performing as a solo artist since he was a kid experimenting with clever flows over hip-hop beats, this Boston native devised a plan that included an unconventional path to achieve his dream.

Listen to “Bugatti Body” Here

A true visionary with a business-savvy swag, Kadis embedded his musical roots in a foundation of music production and entrepreneurship. As a Music Business student at the University of Hartford, Kadis teamed up with Sean Marshall, a childhood friend who attended Howard University, to form the musical production duo, Kadis and Sean. Inspired by Stevie Wonder, Notorious B.I.G., N.E.R.D., Prince and Aerosmith, Kadis created a sound that was wholly organic. Pure. Rhythmic. Clean. Sean’s classical jazz music background was the complimentary antithesis.

I’ve always had this annoying talent to spot a star from a mile away. And though my emails stay full with mindless music from people who have anything BUT star quality, I feel confident just as I am typing this to you that Kadis will be a force in the game. Mark my words.

Take some time to learn more about Kadis musically by going to his iTunes page. And you can also discover more by logging onto OfficialKadis.com.

Don’t say that I didn’t put you on.

Until Next Time..

Artist Spotlight: @Iamcardin Drops “Emergency” w/ Denisse Lara!

Published by Gyant on Monday, March 21, 2011 at 8:36 am.

The people over at Singersroom.com had already posted this dope record a few weeks ago and I immediately became hooked. And now that I’ve finally gotten a few free moments I just have to put the BET family onto an upcoming songwriter/producer.

His name is Cardin. And he’s got an amazing new record featuring Denisse Lara that I just had to show some luv. Though he’s not featured vocally on the track, he’s definitely the man behind the boards and concept ala Quincy Jones.

Born in Kingston, Jamaica where he lived with his parents—both music enthusiasts—until immigrating to the Bronx, New York in the early ‘90s, Cardin grew up watching his father, a moderately successful artist known as Johnny Slaughter, produce vibrant dancehall tunes— a few of which became radio hits in Jamaica in the mid ‘80s.

Cardin’s mother, who immersed her son in the talents of Greats like Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, The Jackson 5 and Babyface, to name a few, played a pivotal role in exposing him to the sounds that became the source of his aspirations.

The musical geniuses behind the albums— none other than legends Quincy Jones and Micheal Jackson— became his biggest inspiration and aroused in him an unending fascination with songwriting and production.

Now LA based, Cardin is actively taking steps in the game to have the whole world hear his music.

“Emergency” is now available on iTunes [Go Here]

It’s really a dope record. Be sure to show ur luv.

Until Next Time…

Their new record with songwriting duo Rock City called “U Aint Ready” has hit the net, and its an all out SMASH.

The New Lil @BowWow Discovered: New Artist @WhoIsCypress Drops Smash “Cypher Starter”

Published by Gyant on Monday, January 17, 2011 at 8:48 am.

Happy Martin Luther King, Jr day everyone. If you haven’t noticed, the blogs have been a little bit slow on GYANT on BET.com. What can I say; everybody needs a break sometime, but now it’s time to get back to delivering you all the “real” from someone with a GYANT opinion!

First up is a cute little kid who is clearly on his way to becoming the next global teen sensation. His name is Cypress and at the age of 11 he’s rapping better than most grown men in the game. With over 13k hits on YouTube in under a week, Cypress, a charismatic super-talented millennium baby, is actually no rookie to recording on albums.

He made his debut appearance on Ludacris’s “Chicken and Beer” album intro at the age of 4 years old in 2003. He made his 2nd appearance on Ludacris’s “Release Therapy” album intro in 2006 at the age of 7. And now Cypress is preparing for the release of his first mixtape, and a full-length EP later this year.

Son of CTE/Def Jam’s recording artist Blood Raw [I know, what you're thinking: "Who?"], Cypress hails from Atlanta, GA on the south side. He’s been rapping since age 3. And with offers on the table from record labels  prepared to take Lil Cypress all the way to the top, his team is putting him in place to become the next Bow Wow, Kriss Kross and or Usher.

Signed to Do Good Entertainment, all hands are on deck to assure Cypress is a fair and honest representation of a kid. You won’t see any cornrows, braids, gaudy jewelry or baggy jeans. Cypress will not project a thug image of any kind at his young age. And isn’t that refreshing?

Everyone who is familiar with my staunch opinion on music knows that I often get bored, angry and downright ambivalent about the music that isn’t age appropriate, lacks heart and is just another “machine manufactured” musical regurgitation of something we all just heard five minutes prior. So you already know if I’m bopping my head and feel compelled to show the lil guy some love, he’s clearly got something there worth exploring.

Take a minute to listen to “Cypher Starter” [Download Here] and I was so impressed I even found the lyrics:

“Cypher Starter”

VERSE1:
i said i’m back for the time
nah it ain’t my first rhyme
been on two albums
yeah that’s my first grind
ay ma i’m a solider now
i told you ima hold you down
as i roll around in my life
i’m 10 and so tight
my gear so fresh i’m in the spotlight
when ever i travel on the top flight
girls wanna look when i ride on my bike
as a matter of fact i’m good
put the whole world on my back if i could
i’m still lil man wit rack in my hood
me and my pops gonna help my mom and we should

BSEC:
she said get that , get tracks, spit raps, get stacks
sit back and i’ll be on
and give back to my people hear that
did that that’s the reason why i sing this song

HOOK:
Come back Harder
Come back Smarter
Cypress the Young Cypher Starter
A Buck and 4 quarters
Catch me on Marta
With my lil brother
But I act like his father

BREAK A:
so get off of me i ought to be
with all the MC’s that flow awkwardly
and possibly i might be the best to beat
i’m young yet, i ain’t even reach my peak

VERSE2:
I’ma break it down i’ma show you how to do this
pay close attention, you probably shouldn’t miss it
introduce me to the game at a tender age
and now i rock the crowd every time i hit the stage
in a suit, white tee, fresh ones, thats me
your pretty lil daughters trine get to my seat
signing all these autographs at my meeting great
and everybody have a ball
cuz all the sodas on me
i got that flow that makes you rock
got them beats that make you bump
bump my music in your truck (cypress is in the building)

BSEC:
she said get that , get tracks, spit raps, get stacks
sit back and i’ll be on
and give back to my people hear that
did that that’s the reason why i sing this song

HOOK:
Come back Harder
Come back Smarter
Cypress the Young Cypher Starter
A Buck and 4 quarters
Catch me on Marta
With my lil brother
But I act like his father

BREAK B:
don’t sleep homey
don’t creep homey
i’m hard this ain’t sesame street homey
you want beef homey go eat homey
i ain’t sweet but you can have a treat homey

VERSE3:
i got skills that pay big bank
on the school bus joking new pranks
all the girls in the fifth grade stalking
walking in the hallways i hear em all talking
they know about me and how i be rhyming
straight southwest Cleavland Avenues finest
Nobody out there mess with these beats
bass so loud hear it knocking the streets
at least i’m gon shine
i’m gonna get mine
got a hype around me like when Drake got signed
when it’s time for my show fans run to get in line
gonna electrify the stage gonna set it on fire

BSEC:
she said get that , get tracks, spit raps, get stacks
sit back and i’ll be on
and give back to my people hear that
did that that’s the reason why i sing this song

HOOK:
Come back Harder
Come back Smarter
Cypress the Young Cypher Starter
A Buck and 4 quarters
Catch me on Marta
With my lil brother
But I act like his father

Just how Scooter Braun gave me the off-the-record exclusive on Justin Bieber, an artist he and Usher were working with, a full year before anyone knew his name, I have nothing but confidence that Cypress is just getting started. Check for Cypress’ new album, “I Will Not Rap In Class” this year.

Artist Spotlight: Interscope’s @MindlessBehavior -My Girl

Published by Gyant on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at 11:55 am.

There I was typing up a mindless blog on 106 & Park when a homie of mine was buzzing in my ear like a freaking bee about this new Interscope quartet known as Mindless Behavior.

Anyone who knows me knows that I’m anti-hype. I practically run away from anyone who approaches me about the next anything.

Nine times out of ten you’re never going to hear the particular artist the person is bragging about. However, after hearing their single “My Girl, along with a video that is reminiscent of an industry that once was, anyone with eyes can see that these little kids are OUTTA HERE.

Members Roc Royal, Prodigy, Princeton and Ray-Ray [yes lawd Ray-Ray] are clearly on their way to taking over the game! Remember the lesser-than urban boy band groups from the last ten years? Well Mindless Behavior is B2K personified. I mean lets keep it real  Omarion, J-Boog, Raz-B and Lil Fizz were nothing then a bad xerox copy of Immature. [Sorry Chris Stokes]

Call me a cornball, but I love icky pop music like this. Their music lane is WIDE open, and I can see these little tonka tykes taking over the game..well the urban game at the very least.

Until Next Time…

Dope Record Alert: @JusNice Preps “Karma Two” w/ New Smash “Celebrate”!

Published by Gyant on Friday, July 30, 2010 at 8:07 am.

Everybody knows I’m a champion for new artists in the game. And if you’ve followed me over the years then you’re already familiar with South Carolina rapper Jus Nice.

Justin Grant aka Jus Nice is a collegiate superstar both on campus at his university, and in various clubs around the globe. Proving to the world that he’s here to make his mark in music, Jus is gearing up for the release of his new mixtape “Karma Two”.

His new song, which I have for you below, titled “Celebrate” is easily my new anthem of 2010.

[Listen To Celebrate Here]

The hip-hop game is chock full rappers who project a persona that’s not genuine. But with Jus Nice he keeps it real. He’s a hardworking college student, who puts his blood, sweat and tears into both his studies, and his music.

Word on the street is that Jus, and his WeGotThis Entertainment crew will “celebrate” this release of the new mixtape project at the New Era store in September. I’ll keep you posted.

Until Next Time..
