Let’s just say the police were called. Watch the video above. Rockstars are not made they are born. #imjustsayin

The Scene: @NateWalka On The Scene At The MOBO Awards!

Published by Gyant on Monday, October 25, 2010 at 6:57 am.

Shouts to Nate Walka. The homie, who is actively working on his new mixtape project, took some time off away from the recording booth to fly over the pond to London for the MOBO Awards.

After the huge success of UK pop star Alesha Dixon’s smash hit song, “Drummer Boy,” Nate was invited to celebrate in her success by attending MOBO’s 15-year anniversary as her special guest.

Nate and Alesha built up a rapport earlier this year after spending time in the studio cooking up songs for her album. “Drummer Boy” was the first single to be released.

Nate partied the night away with the crème of UK talent and is gearing up for his first international listening session to be held in London next week.

Video: @NateWalka Gives Fans Sneak Peek Into New “FixTape” Project!

Published by Gyant on Monday, October 18, 2010 at 8:13 pm.

Singer/songwriter Nate Walka [the man behind two of music's biggest smash hits: "Blame It" and "Say Ahh"] has just dropped some visuals for the intro to his new musical project. Carving a lane out for himself while keeping his innovative integrity, Nate is working on a new fixtape [nope. not a typo].

I have had a chance to listen to some of the cuts from the project, and I cant deny its hotness. Nate, unlike so many urban artists, isn’t restraining himself from creating music that can appeal to all — not just Black people.

In the clip above, Nate gives his legion of fans a taste of the intro to his new project, which is scheduled to be available to us all shortly. I like it.

Walka filmed his new video this weekend in Atlanta, sponsored by Diddy’s Ciroc vodka. Though I didn’t get a chance to make it, I will have some info for you all on it soon.

Enjoy.

Word of South Interviews @NateWalka!

Published by Gyant on Monday, October 11, 2010 at 6:12 am.

Shouts to the homie Nate Walka. I was over on one of my favorite blog sites WordofSouth.com where I spotted a nice interview with the songwriting genius turned bubbling under recording star.

Known to the world as Nate Walka, he was born Nathan L. Walker. Walka is the man behind the catchy ass hooks from Trey Songz “Say Ahh” and Jaime Foxx’s “Blame It”.

He’s also got a current single, which Nate wrote entirely for UK star Alesha Dixon. Checkout some more info in the revealing interview below.

Per Word of South:

Wordofsouth.com: I know you just got back from the BMI awards not to long ago, how was it?

Nate: It was good, I’m not with BMI, I’m with ASCAP, but I was there supporting my homie who was with BMI, he did the beat on Trey Songz –“Say ahh”

Wordofsouth.com: Let’s get some background information on you, where are you from?

Nate: From Memphis, TN, when I was 14, I moved to Illinois with my aunt and uncle, high school I moved to Virginia, and I went to Alabama A&M for college.

Wordofsouth.com: When did you decide you wanted to be involved in music?

Nate: Probably like 2 years ago, I was living in Indiana, I was working in a clothing store, and they offered me a management position there, I was excited about that, than I got home the night they offered me the position and I thought “man this isn’t really lining up with my plans and dreams”, so I called my homeboy who was living in Atlanta at the time, and he always telling me to come to Atlanta like ‘yo dawg, everyone is out here” so I called him and asked him if Atlanta is really popping like that, and he told me yea, So I made the move out there and slept on his floor with $800 on me, and just made songs in his living room and trying to put together a mixtape and we put it out, I found a manager, and he got me an opening gig for shwayze. I got a call from Chris Henderson, and he asked what my affiliation was too “Blame it”, and he told me someone else was trying to take credit for my song that was already on my mixtape, he told me that the record is going to be on Jamie’s album, and luckily I was able to get my info in and get the paperwork to have my name on the album. Ever since than I’ve just been working, writing for people like Day 26, working with Atlantic UK, just working.

Wordofsouth.com: So you found music? Or did music find you?

Nate: It definitely found me; the turning point was just making the decision. The biggest part is to really tell yourself that you want to do something, I told myself I’m going to give my self 6 months with music, if it doesn’t happen, than oh well, I think God was waiting for me to show an act of faith, and that was me leaving my job, and ever since, he just blessed me.

Wordofsouth.com: Let’s run through some of the songs you have written that the General public may know.

Nate: Jamie Foxx’s “Blame it”, Trey Songz- “Say ahh”

Wordofsouth.com: You had a listening session a month ago with new music, how did the audience react?

Nate: It was real great, better than expected, it was all rough, not even mastered, and people really liked it, vibing to it and all that. It got me excited and lit a fire under me to get me excited about moving forward.

Wordofsouth.com: Are you going indie or looking for major?

Nate: I want to go indie right now because I like passion verses anything else, even my manager who has a lot of connections in the industry, but he’s never managed an act to be completely successful. I feel like I’m his Mona Lisa, his masterpiece, verses being apart of a big machine where you have so many pieces where people aren’t really focused on your project because they have like 100 artist to look after as well.

Wordofsouth.com: What do you feel you can bring to music that’s missing?

Nate: Well, being a writer, my musical taste is thriving, I’m bringing a lot of fun back to it, the energy, to me I feel like music is feeling, if I make music and people go nuts in the clubs, than I’ve did my job. I do a lot of different styles to. I rap, I sing, I can’t be one way, that wouldn’t be true to me.

Good sh*t.

The Scene: @MissKerriBaby @Lloyd_YG @RocsiDiaz @TerrenceJ106 @NateWalka & More Party W/ Belvedere & Interscope Records

Published by Gyant on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at 3:08 pm.

Friday night the Gyant on BET.com bash was far from the only party to hit up. Interscope records, in conjunction with Belvedere Vodka A&M Records and Geffen , held a prestigious event at Ventannas. Keri Hilson made a splash with her blond new do. Im not sure I like it with her skin complexion. It almost washes her out. Do you agree? Anyway..

Per The Garner Circle:

On this night of luxurious appeal, Belvedere Vodka launched the second product in their Intense family – Belvedere Intense Unfiltered. The rich and smooth character of Belvedere Intense lends itself to creating the ultimate cocktail. Guests enjoyed complimentary cocktails highlighting the new “luxury” vodka and food by the bite while Lloyd serenaded the crowd. Celebrities in attendance included Keri Hilson, Lloyd, Rocsi & Terrence J of 106 & Park, Flo Rida, D. Woods, Young Money recording artist Shanell, Dondria, Keenya from America’s Next Top Model season 4, and actress Jasmine Burke of Tyler Perry’s Big Mama’s House.

The event was cool. I chopped it up with Lloyd a bit before I rolled out. There wasn’t much to report scandal/gossip wise. Everyone remained on their best behavior. Don’t you hate that?! :-) On To The Next One…

Terrence J and Rocsi stopped through.

The homie Nate Walka and Askia also decided to roll thru.

Jasmine Burke [clearly not ready for the pose] LOL

Video: 1st Annual One Music Fest Brings Out @Common @NateWalka De La Soul & More!

Published by Gyant on Monday, August 2, 2010 at 8:32 am.

This weekends first annual One Music Fest was a massive hit!

Emerging as one of the Summer’s most anticipated festival concert series. ONE MusicFest brought in the talents Common, Nate Walka, Goapele, De La Soul, Mick Boogie and a host of local flavor.

Infusing artists and bands that will unify spectators through the universal language of sound, ONE MusicFest fills a necessary void in the city’s music experience.

King Plow Events, One Stop Productions and Sol Fusion came together to produce ONE MusicFest, with the intention of unification through music.

Watch the video above courtesy of Thaddeus McAdams of Exclusive Access

Shouts to The Garner Circle.
