Waking up on November 5 is an incredible feeling. It feels different…it feels new..it feels better. Not better because of what we’ve done, but of what we’re about to do. We are in the position to make this country the America we want and need, as well as the America we have purported ourselves to be. I just welcomed into this world a granddaughter this weekend(Taylor Amari-7lbs) and I actually feel like she might have a decent world to live in. Until yesturday I wasn’t sure if it would be, but today there’s hope, which is all we ever asked for. It’s not up to Barack..sorry, President-Elect Obama to save the day but to inspire us to help him save this country and improve our quality of life. This is the future I’ve always imagined, and it’s now tangible. It’s within reach people, so let’s not stop now. We didn’t just win an election; we won oppurtunity, which is the true American dream. Dr. King is proud y’all. So am I! UGK for life, long live Pimp C!Signing off, Bun B

Okay party people. So I’ve just landed in Chicago on a mission to grab my child’s mother and drag her to the polls caveman style. I keep calling her, but now she’s not answering the phone. I guess she’s mad because I called her ghetto. She was quick to remind me that we all come from the ghetto, including myself. However, I believe there’s a difference between being poor and being BROKE. When your mentality is, “I don’t know if I can”, “I don’t know if I will”, or “This may not be possible,” that’s being BROKE. It’s a mindset.

I believe that we can be middle-class even with no money, if our mentality maintains a dignity of strong character.

A friend of mine told me that there has been some extreme voter intimidation tactics in Indianapolis, IN. Reportedly, there are two men dressed in gorilla costumes with Obama signs trying to provoke Black crowds at certain polling places to jump and attack them–in which case would disqualify them from voting. Maybe one or two, or maybe the whole crowd, depending on how many participate in any such attack.

Let’s not be thrown off our game.
Let’s stay as focused as Barack was when facing down the racist campaign techniques of the Clintons and McCains.

I leave you with a picture of the children I’m fighting for.
My children.

Solomon and Amirah Smith.
