So this is what was taking him so long? Jay Electronica’s long-awaited debut album, Act: II Patents of Nobility (The Turn), has been delayed for years leaving fans of the enigmatic MC wondering if they’d ever hear a true full-length LP from the Roc Nation soldier. Fans have patiently waited for the project, hanging on to Roc boss Jay-Z’s every word about it and bemoaning the work ethic of Electronica, who most thought was either holding his opus for the perfect time or had a serious case of writer’s block. But when news broke yesterday that Mr. Electronica is alleged to have been making extracurricular moves with the wife of Ben Goldsmith, heir to the billionaire fortune of Jimmy Goldsmith, fans got another possible lead on the reason for the delay.

The Daily Mail reported that Goldsmith found explicit text messages and emails from the New Orleans MC on his wife Kate Rothschild’s phone, adding a new wrinkle to the mystery surrounding the extended delay to Jay Elects music. Kate, an heiress to the renowned Rothschild banking family, was reportedly a big fan of the lyrical wordsmith. If fans were frustrated to see his Twitter rants filling their timelines while they waited for Act II, news that he was also spending valuable recording time breaking up marriages will probably really get under their skin.

The high-profile nature of the breakup, between two filthy rich socialites whom Electronica befriended during his extended residence in England, is strange enough. Add in rumors of Illuminati ties and a sex scandal and this is one of the most peculiar stories hip hop has seen in a while.

Forget about what Erykah Badu said after finding out, I want to know how the big homie reacted. Was Hoz proud of his protege’s high-profile conquest? Or did the thoughtful businessman in him make Jay scold Jay Elect’s recklessness? Either way, this story is far from its resolution (if true at all), and as details continue to emerge, the only thing we can be sure of is that the plot can only get thicker from here.
