Man to Man: Should Chris Brown and Jay-Z Be That Cool?November 15th, 2012
By Arielle Loren
When Chris Brown was spotted at the Barclays Center in October, many fans raised an eyebrow toward Rihanna but there was little mention of Jay-Z. Back when Rih Rih went through her horrific domestic violence incident with Brown, Jay was there as a big brother, being a rock for her through the ordeal and was rumored to be threatening her ex’s career. Now, Chris is assuring the media that he and Jay are on cordial, respectful terms, which seems odd considering how close the mogul is with Rihanna.
It’s clear that Rihanna has forgiven Chris, considering the numerous times the paparazzi have spotted them together. The two have denied that they’re back together on official terms, but there is a close friendship being rebuilt that is engaging their careers. They’re appearing on tracks with each other and making appearances, which are sending the media into a frenzy. While the Bajan pop star doesn’t need Jay anymore to make her career, as a big brother and adviser, should he really be cosigning this?
There’s nothing wrong with being respectful and cordial to an individual who might not be your favorite person in the world. But it seems a bit odd that the same man who decimated your friend and artist’s face would be welcome in your arena with VIP access. This wasn’t some random passing at an awards’ show.
Perhaps Jay sees some of Chris’ recklessness as a reflection of his younger self and wants to give him a chance to grow. Either way, the manner in which Chris is conveying their encounter last month seems a bit odd.
