Why Lil Wayne Should Take a Leave From RapOctober 30th, 2012
By Dan Reagans
Getting to the top ain’t easy and staying there’s much harder, but Lil Wayne ought not be concerned with the latter. When you’ve got an all-star crew for a supporting cast, taking time away from the spotlight to refresh and rejuvenate ain’t so bad. Weezy’s no stranger to putting in work but, after being hospitalized for seizure-like symptoms over the weekend, maybe he should consider slowing down.
By now we all know that health scares should not be underestimated and taken lightly. Besides the four major reasons (Reginae, Dwayne III, Cameron and Neale- Carter) Weezy F. should take a break from the game, he’s got an untouchable empire that can carry his weight while on leave. Either Drake or Nicki Minaj can hold down the fort while the “My Homies Still” rapper relaxes his mind and lets his consciousness free.
Perhaps this can serve as the perfect excuse to take a break from hip hop and fully embrace the “ramp life.” Some well-earned R&R should serve the YMCMB boss man good and thwart those evil spells of rap boredom that sometimes cause him to retreat to his skateboard. Maybe Wayne could sign X-Game champion Tony Hawk to Young Money in exchange for some lessons on mastering the ollie-kickflip-reverse. That should be a sure shot way to make “the best rapper alive” miss hip hop again. If that doesn’t work, Wayne’s always welcome to be a New Yorker (not by way of Rikers Island this time). The Big Apple — aka the birthplace of rap — has been known to refresh and rebuild vigor.
The top can be just as uncomfortable as the bottom without proper rest. All in all, we just want to see and hear Birdman Jr. happy, healthy and eating rappers alive again. Welcome to the “boss life” Mr. Carter… kick off those Supras and cool out while you enjoy the fruits of your labor.
