The two have collaborated on several tracks together, ”Invented Sex,” “Successful,” and now “The Usual” has leaked off Trey Songz forthcoming album Passion, Pain, & Pleasure.
Time has finally come for Rihanna to test the Hollwood waters. The Bajan singer is presently on location in Hawaii filming Battleship, a motion picture directed by Peter Berg (Hancock).
Per IMDB, the movie’s about “a fleet of ships is forced to do battle with an armada of unknown origins in order to discover and thwart their destructive goals.”The movie also stars Tom Arnold(Roseanne) and Alexander Skarsgård of True Blood fame. The flick is set to be released in 2012. See more photos of Riri on set below.
Every now and then I look at singers and think, “he/she would be great on the big screen.” It’s not really the case for Rihanna. Then again, she seems to be sort of soft spoken in interviews and definitely turns it on whenever performing, so she has the ability to become someone else. Acting’s another world, though. It remains to be seen. What do you guys think? Can Rihanna become a well respected actress in Hollywood? How do you think she’ll do in her first role? SOUND OFF!
A lot of artists have turned into authors after getting notoriety in the music industry. The likes of 50 Cent, DMX, Ashanti, Queen Latifah, Jill Scott, Alicia Keys, the list goes on. The latest to temporarily turn from music to author are Jay-Z, Rihanna, and Soulja Boy.
Jay-Z, I can understand. His book Decoded will be released on November 16th and is a memoir. It will explore some of Hov’s most infamous lyrics through discussions with himself and some of the people closest to him. It will also trace his life from childhood in Brooklyn’s Marcy Projects to his years as a teen drug dealer to becoming a hip-hop superstar.
Since Jay-Z has spent most of his career making sure the specifics in his life were/are private to the public, I’m sure this book will fly off the shelves with people trying to understand the mindset and get in an inside track into his life.
Rihanna chose not to write a book but to release a picture book of never before seen images.
“It’s like a backstage pass, like a fashion book. It is a creation of ‘Rated R’ from step one all the way to what it is now” she says “From all the steps, how it was created and how it came to this.”
Not seeming to be an artist with much depth on the surface, I definitely think a picture book was the way to go. At this point I think the only book people would want from her that has words is a tell-all book that breaks down exactly what happened in the car that night between her and Chris Brown. But since we are off that, let’s move on.
Soulja Boy??? The kid who said in a recent interview with Sway that half of 18 was 7!!! The one who recently allegedly had cocaine in his hotel room and has sexual relations with a woman that has already slept with half of the music industry!!! If I had kids I definitely wouldn’t want them reading anything this kid writes.
Here’s his statement about the premise of the book.
“It talks about me making my first million dollars at 17 years old. I talk about how my life changed. It talks about the music industry, everything I learned about the music industry — how I got into the music industry with my mind set, all the ins and outs that I go through. All the chapters break down my beliefs and what steps and methods I took to get in this position. I just go and break [them] down into detail. I just want all my fans to read it when my album drops and have a good read and feel where I’m coming from.”
Maybe this can be a good look for some teenagers out there who are extremely lost. Most writers aren’t good at math anyway, so I’ll give him a pass on that division slip up. If the least it might teach young boys that if they never get on not to sleep with the industry whores.

According to Mediatakeout.com, Beyonce will soon drop her dad as her manager and her hubby Jay-Z will take his place.
According to a VERY WELL PLACED source, Beyonce and her father Mathew Knowles have been “drifting apart” both personally and professionally. The insider explains, “Since the [divorce] of her parents, her relationship with her father is becoming strained . . . Also professionally, she wants to stay edgy and relevant, where her father wants her to make more ‘mature’ music.”
I don’t necessarily think it’s a bad thing that Mr. Knowles wants his daughter to make more mature music. I mean she is creeping on thirty. How much more times can you get bodied, wear freekum dresses, have Deja Vu, and somebody already put a ring on it. I think it’s the perfect time to experiment and grow, but with that growth I’m definitely feeling the management change.

Do you think it’s a good idea that Beyonce drop her dad that helped make her who she is today for her husband who has helped guide a lot of careers in Hip Hop? SOUND OFF!!!
Angel Lola Luv, who has been seen in music videos by 50 Cent, Kanye West, Busta Rhymes, Young Jeezy, the list goes on, is now trying to be the star of these videos rather than the eye candy in the background. Now going by Lola Monroe, the rapper released several mixtapes last year and finally releases an official single.
The track entitled “Overtime” features Trina and is just in time for fall when football and basketball take over my TV.
I’m actually feelin’ this joint. I can definitely see this getting some play on ESPN highlight packages or even in stadiums across the country during the season. I just gave her people the way to promote this record for free. They can thank me later.
She proves you can’t just put these video chicks in a box thinking all they are good for is a big butt and a smile. I’m impressed and looking forward to seeing what else she’s got.

Are we feelin’ Lola Monroe or is she one of those chicks that should be seen and not heard? SOUND OFF!!!
Drake seems to be on that Beyonce plan and is full speed ahead working on new music and not waiting on people to miss him. Getting ready to drop a R&B mixtape soon and according to what Mack Maine, Young Money President, told MTV News, the way he’s been working he may very well have a new album drop before next summer.
“Drake’s crazy! He’s doing a mixtape right now. He called me one night, like 2 in the morning. He has the intro done for the new album. We was discussing dates where he should come back. That’ll be soon. And this mixtape, he’s gonna put that out quick. His formula is crazy. He works fast. I can’t give the secret away to the formula. He’s a musical genius. The way he and 40 put things together is crazy.”
After six-plus months of a promo tour, promoting nothing but her disgust for Nicki Minaj, Lil’ Kim finally takes time out of her busy “hating on Nicki” schedule to get in the studio and put down a couple bars on the remix of Usher’s “Hot Tottie.” Take a listen:
She didn’t even really KILL it but I’m just glad someone was able to get her in the studio and come out with something. One step closer to getting a new album from Kim. Glad her focus is back on the music.

Meet LDJ – more than just initials for a name; it’s a business. The New York based rapper is the sole artist on his Dollar J Records, record label – creating a solid foundation of business, talent and creativity that any up and coming artist would aspire to be a part of when the label is enlisting talent. Having a background of working with noted HipHop artists with minimum following; check out his latest video that features Jim Jones and has a cameo by Redman.
LDJ is making moves under the radar but are indeed moves worth recognizing.
Eb: Are you originally from New York? LDJ: Yup! Born and raised in New York. Well, I was raised in Nanuet and but moved back to New York 10 years ago and have been here since. Eb:Who has been some key players when it comes to influencing your musical style? LDJ:Method Man and Redman of course. Just the guys who paved a way for the next generation in this hip-hop game. I respect them all and hope to get on their level one day. Real Hip-hop heads. Eb: What’s your genre style? Where do you fit in the music scene? LDJ:Genre wise, it is definitely hip-hop. Some of my songs include singing which is not all that I’m trying to do but it’s an added bonus. I work with other R & B singers also though, such as Janee McCall who is Alicia Keys back-up singer and Kell Reed who has worked with Lady Gaga. I just like good music. I don’t like to be put into one box as far as genre.
Eb:Creating a fanbase and getting out there is a difficult task for up and coming artists – the fans make the artist and his success. What would you credit to contributing to you generating your fan-base? LDJ:My ten mixtapes have been holding me down. I do a lot of shows and get featured on Vlad TV, Hip Hop Weekly. I help a lot of other artists put out mixtapes and been featured on DVDS and shows also. I worked with Wyclef and KRS One, Pete Rock, Black Rob, Jim Jones, Camron, G Dep – I’ve worked with a lot of signed artists over the course of my career.
Eb:New York Hip-Hop scene is rather large, how are you making certain you stand out from the others rappers in the area? LDJ:If you can’t make it in NY, you can’t make it anywhere. I hold my own and do what I got to do. That’s where it’s at but I’m definitely on my grind. There aren’t very many rappers from here so I’m like the City’s golden child right now. When I do shows I have at least 20 people travel outside of the area to come see me on stage.
Eb:I know you say its your initials but what exactly does LDJ stand for? LDJ:Its my name abbreviated. Landell Jones and I was always known as LD outside of rapping and once I started rapping I added the J – just went from there.
Eb:Collaboration wise, who are you currently working with? LDJ:Just finished working with Pete Rock on his last album. I worked with Redman and KRS One’s new albums. For the most part I’ve been doing a lot of in-house production from Ed who has done for 50 Cent, Mary J Blige, Wyclef, Alicia Keys. I’m also working with L.E.S.
Eb: If you had to give a couple accomplishments that have contributed to your career thus far, what would they be? LDJ:I’ve released 10 street albums – “The Ready to Rock Mixtape”, “Undisputed”, “Who is LDJ?”, “It’s my turn” (hosted by DJ Envy), “Dow Jones”, “F*ck themedia”, Jonesin the mixtape”, “Mr. Official”, “Dopeman” and New Yack City”. My debut album, “Jonesin” is featuring KRS-One, Pete Rock, Redman with my lead single, “Get Ya Gun” is available on itunes right now for download. The new single, “Da Baseline” features Jim Jones”
Eb:What can we expect from you in the future? LDJ:Right now my song and video with Jim Jones has been getting a lot of love on the internet, “Da Baseline”. It’s been getting spins on Hot 97 and 105.1 – it’s the first single off of my album. When Redman, Pete Rock and KRS-One’s projects drop, you’ll hear me on there also. It don’t stop. I’m grinding.

I think it’s safe to say that Trey Songz can’t get through a music video without taking his shirt off and I’m not mad at him. In “Can’t Be Friends” he’s going crazy over a past lover. Wishing he never loved her. It was so intense now that it’s over there is no way they can be friends since the feelings are still there. Those feelings make him have terets through this entire video. Check it out:
So apparently the Carters and Martins are really friends. I remember seeing Gwyneth Paltrow on David Letterman years back and she said her kids called Hov, Uncle Jay. I wonder how these guys became friends. There must be an interesting story in there somewhere.
In any event, Hov recently caught up with the UK’s Mirror and spoke about his relationship with Paltrow and her husband, Coldplay frontman, Chris Martin. As close as they are these days, Jay admits they likely wouldn’t have been friends when he was 16.
“That’s a different scenario,” Hov told the Mirror. “He couldn’t walk through Marcy. I was a different person then. I wasn’t open to the world and to cultures.”
“I would have been, ‘Yo! Who are you? Give me your money,’” he continued. “You couldn’t have a guy like Chris walking through Marcy. He’d have to get robbed. At best.”

It was all a prank! Nicki Minaj and Drake took to Twitter to announce a sudden marriage this past Friday (August 27). Drake raised eyebrows when he rhymed, "I love Nicki Minaj, I told her I'd admit it/I hope one day we get married just to say we f*cking did it." While Nicki has previously downplayed Drake's crush, she initiated the prank […]

Not only is Nicki Minaj the only female MC making noise on the charts, she just might be the most controversial rapper in years. Phenomenons aren't created, they are born. From the moment Lauryn Hill appeared on the scene, there was no doubt she was something special. Not only was she a better MC than her partners in the Fugees, but she could sing, too. Really sing. Although her talent was undeniable and fans urged her to go solo, it took Lauryn some time to come to the same conc […]

J. Cole made his TV debut way before signing to Jay-Z's Roc Nation label. Back in 2006, while still attending St. John's University, Hollywood Cole's hunger to sell beats to Hov led him to crash the God MC's 40/40 Club where MTV was filming an episode of "Super Sweet 16" with Aaron Reid, the son of Island Def Jam Music Group Ch […]
