500K or Bust……

No this post isn’t about how GREAT Wayne’s new album is (it’s pretty good, no classic though), or how “The Best Rapper Alive In Training” has returned to save hip hop (Kanye and Lupe already achieved that). The debate trickling through the industry isn’t if Weezel is going to live up to the musical hype(he didn’t..even though Diddy claims he did) , it’s will he sore through the roof in album sales like everyone is projecting.
Personally, I have the utmost confidence Weezy will sell wayyy over 500K, but these 2 fools I placed bets with think otherwise. Again, it’s not because of how good the product is, it’s because of how delayed the product is. At least 4 push backs, 938902302384 guest features and 860549569 mixtapes; you can bet your ASS this man is doing vast numbers first week, but the question is, how much. A Universal employee informed me they shipped 1.5 million copies with a forecast of at LEAST 650k…and that’s not even considering iTune sales.
Let’s look at it from another angle. Kanye did 957,000 and 50 did 691,000 during their EPIC SoundScan showdown back in September, but the ambiance surrounding the clash was based around 50 retiring if Kanye beat him, which 50 obviously didn’t do. For this release, there’s no showdown or anything of the sort pushing the project in everyone’s face, but like I mentioned before, his monsoon of guest features and the over saturation in the mixtape market, along with several album delays, may do the trick to bring in a hefty first week number.
I’m sure there are plenty of Dwayne fans out there right now in line purchasing the C3, so tell me, was the shelf full of C3 CD’s or was it empty? And judging by your observation during Weezy Mania, what do YOU project his first week numbers to look like??? 500K, 700K , 900K or dare I say….PLATINUM????? SPEAK LADIES AND GENTS, SPEEEAAAKKK!

honestly wayne he a gud rapper and all but he afraid of competition if he really dat geat hell wait a year before he release nething else cuz if he dat gud he aint got 2 worry bout sumbody beatn him. but honestly he need 2 relize he 2nd best cuz jayz da legend n wayne cant tuch him. I’ve listened to this album so many times now it’s insane and every time I find something new and totally beyond the scope of many other mcs in the game. I have come to this decision. I think the game has evolved. I think many of the todays artist are living to legends that were bigger than the game itself, we know wayne sold wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy OVER 500K. But is he greater than biggie, Pac? We’ll never know and it’s better that way. There are 4 kings these days Wayne, T.I, Jay Z and Kanye. Who’s number one we may never find out with marketing and each wanting to maximize sale i doubt we’ll ever see the 4 release albums simultaneously. I think that’s the only reall way we find out who’s best. Summer 2009 they should all release albums. It would be the hottest summer ever.

kanye and lupe saved hip hop? kanye is elite in the rap game but is no savior and lupe is a skateboarder so i hope that isnt what hip hop has come to… if your suggesting that kanye and lupe are better than wayne you need to chill out… kanye maybe could make an arguement but lupe needs to be following weezy around taking notes
