B.E.T. You Haven’t Heard This: 50 Cent
June 17th, 2009
Is this the final stretch for 50 Cent? So last week Mr. Curtis Jackson explained how he intends on bringing “hard core rap” back to its prominence. Right.
Now whether or not he’s using that phrase to garner attention for the three separate bodies of work he’ll be presenting in the next 6 months- I have no idea, but this will be an interesting sight to see.
50 sat down with MTV’s Mixtape Daily to discuss the roll out for his new efforts and said a couple of interesting things on the current state of the game. “I gotta make them follow me. After they follow me, they’ll be able to make real hip-hop records and make them successful. I have to have a successful project with really good hip-hop music to make these people go, ‘OK, we can make [a real hip-hop album].’”
He added, “I have to be successful to make the record companies go, ‘We can support this guy that wrote a rap album’ instead of feeling like ‘We need him to go on this record with Ne-Yo or Dream. Get somebody on there to do the hook.’ That’s the concept of what they feel they can present to the public and that’s not what the f— I was going on when I started.”
See, I’m not sure how I feel about this. It seems like Fif is force feeding the notion that he’s the answer to bringing hard core rap back to relevance. It’s like, “Look at me, I’m hard core again…I’m hard core again.”
While I appreciate the attempt, I’m already turned off since he’s plugging the product so hard. But hey, whatever.
Enough rumblings. Here are several offerings from Fif’s underground set, “War Angel” LP.
Like em, Love em or Leave em????
Sincerely
