B.E.T. You Haven’t Heard This: Beyonce
October 8th, 2008
One down, one to go…. So I completely forgot shorty doo wop was dropping her single(s) today, but luckily, I have people in high places (REKA WHAD UP) to smack me on the back of the head when I occasionally slip up on an important occurrence, such as this. Mrs. Carter let loose both of her official offerings to the public today, and so far the responses have been on both sides.
Some like em, others hate em. Me, personally, I wasn’t expecting this (”If I Were A Boy”), at all, but I do find myself head nodding to “Single Ladies” (Big Ups To YBF for the assist) which was produced by Tricky Stewart and The Dream. Sidebar: A little birdie just informed that they may push the album back from its November 18 release date. Do I smell a Husband and Wife showdown?? Stay tuned….

I would like to say that Bey shows tremendous growth in every project she does. Some people don’t realize that in order to grow as an artist, ypu have to take risk and thats exactly what she did. I would have to say that ” If I Were A Boy” has to grow on me. “Single Ladies” is HOT right of the back tho. But I think both songs will be hits an even though and maybe I and some”urban others” have to let “If I Were A Boy” grow on us I sure the “uncolored” will love it, because it appeals to all aaudiences. Much LOVE 2 Bey!!!!…..and haters fall back! “THE QUEENS BACK!!!!!”
I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT I LIKE THIS SONG BUT I REALLY DON’T LIKE IT .
SORRY BEYONCE BUT YOU GANNA HAVE TO LEAVE THE GAME TO CIARA RIHANNA AND THE REST OF THE FEMALES
haters fall back
please stop bring up rhianna and other artist
no one can compare
bey been shutting it down for too long
lil girls just blew up
bey is back
and she about to take it
maybe you just have to be a little grown up to get it
I must say….IM NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL!!! Beyonce’s very talented however these songs dissapointed me. I was waiting on a album such as Dangerously in Love! but I guess ill be waiting a while
I like both of them and u can say what you want, but even Rihanna has stated that she takes advice from Bey…The girls is bad, but they hated on Michael J and look what he did….She has a passion for music and that’s why it appeals to all audiences and that’s what makes her a SUPASTAR! There’s a difference b/w that and a star!?
I’m not feelin these songs at all, but i know Bey just givin us a sample. IT WILL GET BETTER!
I don’t partically care for either. I would definitely have to see the videos to understand the purpose of the songs and perhaps then they will grow on me. I am more interested in Solange right now, than this poppish R&B.
I didn’t like the the Boy song to much, but I can see how the second song could catch on. I wasn’t too impressed about either one
not feelin either one.
i guess this will be another cd i will not buy if the rest of the album sounds like this.
I like both of the songs but i can’t wait to see whats on the rest of her up coming album. An i wish people would stop bring up rihanna because when Beyonce comes out with her album people are going to forget all about rihanna . An plus rihanna isn’t even no where near Beyonce’s level when it comes to the vocal’s or talent wise. don’t get me wrong rihanna is sorta talented.
Bey is of course just giving us a taste of whats really to come. “Crazy in Love” and “Deja Vu” had to grow on me when they both came out. But her 2nd and 3rd singles were bangin.
By the way she said in an interview that she didnt want to put out more of the same and wanted 2 go on a different track. But shes still HOT. The albums going #1.
But if they had not of ever leaked Beautiful Nightmare, I would of liked that as the first single.
I’m sorry ‘B” but this song SUCKS
i love both f bey cd i cant wait fr it to come out i love bey
I am not really feeling the songs too much. But if I had to choose one over the other I guess it would be Single Ladies. I was just expecting a little more from Beyonce.
In this business called show, one must evolve and not conform. Changing your image is not a bad thing for some artist but your music must flow. Beyonce is a very talented artist and she has proven that. However, sometimes less is better. I think if Matthew Knowles( who I am sure is behind all of this overexposure) wasn’t so built on creating this empire, the public would hear better music than these mediocre songs. LET YOUR DAUGHTER BREATHE!! Two movies, back to back? And an album? Come on! If Beyonce is going to have longevity in THIS business, she won’t last because she is burning the candle at both ends.BURNOUT!!! Have a baby. Go on a trip. A long long long long long long trip! And when you get back from that trip, your fans will still be there. And if their not, they were not your fans from the beginning! They were buying into an image and images fade. TRUE talent stays around for years and years and years. Just ask Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight, Patti Labelle, Diana Ross, Tina Turner, Dionne Warwick, and form the younger generation, Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey.
love, LOVE, LOVE it. As usual, clever lyrics. Strong vocals, that I can identify with as a “single lady”! Can’t wait to turn-it-up!
NO………. fu………..ck……..Ing way this is beyonce. I HAVE EVERY ONE OF BEYONCE CD BUT IT LOOOK LIKE NOT THIS ONE. LOVE BEYONCE BUT NOT THIS TWO SONG BEYONE NEED TO COME UP AND STEP UP.
I’ve been waitying a long time for this. I am very disappointed. I hope this is a joke. Do she not relize that there is competiton out there. What was she thinking when she put those out.
Hopefully the videos fix everything.
