The Rap City Wiretap: Wu-Tang Is Still 4 The Children

February 14th, 2008

[Catch Pt. 4 of the "Rap City Wiretap"

February 5, 2008 – 5:16 p.m…

It’s getting late and stomachs are growling, Jamie Hector’s included. As we ride the elevator down to the second floor, the actor can’t help but stare at a random’s person’s food. Everybody notices.

Snoop: You hungry ain’t you Jamie?

[Laughs!]

Snoop: That’s your sh-t right there too. Two trees.

[Laughs!]

[Blogger's Note: Snoop was poking fun at Hector being a vegetarian.]

5:20 p.m…

Back on set, Q45 is wrapping up a shoot with DJ Felli Fel. If you’re keeping count, that’s five shoots in one day (Mike Jones, DJ Felli Fel, Michael K. Williams, Method Man & Jamie Hector).

Q45 & DJ Felli Fel…

5:40 p.m…

Lil’ Snoop & Method Man…

Snoop & Method Man on set…

After a brief dead period, the cameras are rolling for the Method Man episode.

“My new album is called “F-ck My Baby Moma,” Meth jokes in between takes.

[Laughs!]

Meth just kept the jokes rolling.

5:50 p.m…

Wu-Tang is truly for the children. At the moment, Meth has the whole set laughing with a pretty explicit story. Seconds later, the emcee turns around only to see a young kid witness the vulgarity.

Meth: Pardon my French, shorty. Pardon my swahili. I don’t usually talk like that.

Meth Is For The Children…

Minutes later, the episode is wrapped, but Meth can’t leave the set without showing the kid a little trick.

Meth: Lil’ man, you got a quarter?

Lil’ Man: [Shakes his head]

Meth: Who got a quarter? Who got a quarter? I wanna show him a trick.

After finding a quarter, Meth demonstrates a trick in which he makes the quarter disappear.

Meth: Stay in school, shorty!

The Rap City Wiretap: Is Snoop Doing A Good Job?

February 13th, 2008

[Catch Pt.3 of the "Rap City Wiretap"]

February 5, 2008 – 4: 32p.m…

Felicia “Lil’ Snoop” Pearson & RC Producer Matt Smith

We’ve just wrapped up episode one and Snoop is still looking for feedback.

Snoop: I ain’t look nervous or none of that?

M.Smith: You’re an actor and you’re yourself, so I think people are gonna dig watching you.

4:36 p.m…

Back in the green room, Snoop quickly changes outfits before heading upstairs for the day’s second shoot.

“This is black right,” Snoop inquires about a T-Shirt she settled on.

4:41 p.m…

Snoop & Jamie Hector laugh it off…

As Smith leads Snoop and Hector to the rooftop, the latter has some interesting news.

“Snoop, you know we was watching you right,” Hector informs his co-star. “Even when the cameras wasn’t rolling, we was watching.”

[Laughs!]

4:46 p.m…

M. Smith: Snoop, where’s your coat?

Snoop: I ain’t wearing no coat!

M. Smith: But it’s outside on the roof!

4:51 p.m…

What Is this?

4:58 p.m…

In between takes, Hector and Snoop admire the rooftop’s beautiful view.

“Is that the projects,” Snoop inquires while looking at nearby buildings.

[BLOW!]

Ironically, only moments after Snoop’s question, we’re hear a loud boom reminiscent of gunshots.

Hector: Uh Oh! What’s going on?

[Laughs!]

The Rap City Wiretap: Take One

February 12th, 2008

[Catch Pt. 2 Of The Rap City Wiretap Blog

February 5, 2008 – 3:45 p.m… Things are finally in motion. As Snoop makes her way downstairs, she reveals the cause of her delay. She got stuck in the  NY Giants Championship parade.

“Man, that sh-t was crazy,” Snoop says on the parade. “I ain’t never seen nothing like that in my life.”

3:55 p.m…

We’re finally on set and ready to shoot. I witness Mike Jones and Michael K. Williams trade contact information and make my way towards the back of the set. Only minutes, later, a hysterical Williams comes running to show his friends his latest toy, a promotional action figure for Jones’ new “Drop And Gimme 50″ video.

Drop And Gimme 50…

“Mike gave it to me,” Williams informs while laughing uncontrollably. “That’s for his new video, ‘Drop And Gimme 50.’”

In the meantime, BET Talent Executives are time managing.

“Here’s what it is,” one executive explains. “We’re going to go upstairs on the roof with Jamie Hector. During that time we will shoot Method Man here for Black History Month and ‘Experience.’”

Meanwhile, Williams is being queried once again. This time, on his work schedule.

“An episode takes about ten to twelve days [to shoot], so out of them twelve days, I work maybe three,” Williams reveals on “The Wire” shooting schedule. “I be watching. There’s so much to see.”

4:05p.m…

The cameras are rolling. Snoop just introduced her first video and though he’s watching on the monitor, Williams apparently forgot that he’s on set.

“I be watching this sh-t so much, I be really waiting for a video,” Williams jokes.
[Laughs!]

RC producer Malik Buie preps Snoop and Williams

4:22 p.m…

After interviewing Williams on everything from his new movie roles to being discovered by Tupac Shakur, Snoop looks for feedback.

Snoop: So, I’m doing good right?

Williams: Man, you’re doing great!

Make sure to tune in tonight @ 5 as Snoop interviews Method Man on the “Rap City Wiretap.”

The Rap City Wiretap: Would You Buy Burgers From Omar?

February 11th, 2008

[Catch Pt. 1 Of The Rap City Wiretap Blog]

February 5, 2008 – 1:51 p.m…

Not much  going on here. It’s my second trip on the third floor’s green room and still no trace of any “Wire” cast members…just “Rap City” host Q45 and Mike Jones pollying minutes before an early shoot.

Q45 and Mike Jones…

1:52 p.m…

After dapping Q and Mike and a brief green room inspection, I make my exit only to come face-to-face with Michael K. Williams (Omar). Finally  a cast member! So, Williams is here, but Snoop, who is guest hosting the show, still isn’t. Word is she’s stuck in traffic. So I head back to my desk and catch an elevator ride with Williams and a BET Talent Executive along the way.

Upon being queried, Williams speaks on his post-Wire work, which includes Wonderful Word, Ego and a new part he’s landed alongside Charlize Theron.

“Sh-t, any work is good right now,” Williams confesses. “I’d do a Burger King commercial right now. Have it your way,” he jokes while air biting a whopper. [Laughs!]

3:18 p.m…

Jamie Hector and Snoop review tip sheets…

Nearly everybody’s here now. Jamie Hector, Felicia “Lil’ Snoop” Pearson and some friends including DJ Reddz and rapper Flawless (right in above pic), who are to make appearances in one of the episodes.

3:31 p.m…

Williams walks in to sample items from Hector’s clothing line, Royal Addiction.

Royal Addiction…

“Yo, thanks Jamie. That yellow [shirt]…crazy,” Williams beams after receiving freebies from Hector’s clothing line. Meanwhile Snoop is putting together her outfit for the first show, which includes a Wire Season 5 jacket with her face in the back.

Williams co-signs the jacket…

Williams, Snoop & Hector…

Being around those dudes for a few minutes, you can’t help but notice how tight they seem. I hear that Gbenga Akinnagbe (Chris) actually went to Tristan Wilds(Michael Lee) graduation. Anyway, I couldn’t help but state the obvious.

Me: I was just watching you guys shooting each other last night and there you are just hanging out. That’s crazy!

Everybody: [Laughs!]

Make sure to tune in tonight @ 5 as Snoop interviews Hector on the “Rap City Wiretap.”

The Rap City Wiretap: “I Love Lil’ Snoop…No Homo!”

February 7th, 2008

What? She said it first.

February 5, 2007 – 6:46 p.m…

We’re on location trying to  wrap-up the last of three “Rap City Wiretap” episodes. The show is being guest hosted by Felicia “Lil’ Snoop” Pearson and her guests include cast mates Michael K. Williams (Omar), Method Man (Cheese) and Jamie Hector (Marlo).

Photobucket

RC Producer Malik Buie instructs Lil’ Snoop

At the moment, Hector is minutes away from shooting his segment while Snoop answers questions from “Rap City” viewers. “Felicia, who do you get the most love from? The women or the guys,” the viewer asks.

“Both,” Snoop emphatically answers. “The girls definitely show me love and the guys, no homo…” [Laughs] “I almost dropped the camera,” one of the videographer jokes.

We all lost it. And that in a nutshell sums up my experience shadowing the ”Rap City Wiretap” shoot. All business on set, but still fun between takes. I was privileged enough to tag along Snoop and the “Rap City” crew as they filmed the three aforementioned episodes. Next thing you know Michael K. was breaking down The Wire’s shooting schedule, Meth was cracking tear-jerking jokes and Hector was sharing some potential good news. I can’t tell you much more though. You’ll have to tune in next week for a behind the scenes look at the “Rap City Wiretap.” Til next time, make sure to watch “Rap City” everyday at 5 p.m. (ET/PT).
