Chris Brown Calls BET Awards “Wack” & Speak On Oprah Winfrey
December 7th, 2009
Damn, Chris???? That’s how you feel? Say word Monday morning is already starting out decent? *Shrugs* Anyway, the return of VIBE Magazine is upon us (well some of us, I don’t think it’s in stores yet). The triumphant return of VIBE Magazine focuses on the rise of hip-hop’s Baby Jesus, Drake and the industry’s biggest underdog, Chris Brown.
As protocol shows, at the beginning of each month, there’s always a new publication floating around my secret newsstand and as soon as I passed by the shop today, I quickly rememeberd that VIBE was hitting the ground running this month.
Of course, since I never carry cash on me and my seceret newsstand doesn’t accept plastic, I had to scurry back to the third floor of Port Authority and withdrawl $20 (I swear, the things I do for hip-hop lol). “You have anything smaller,” the cashier muttered. I responded, “Quit with the nonsense and give me my change.” I ran out, hopped on the train and began scouring through the issue for interesting excerpts.
I passed Chris‘ interview, but since I’m a bit tired of Mr. Brown rewording his answers to the same questions, I decided to skip to Drake’s interview. Discovering that Drake’s story was an in depth write up (a dope one from the looks of it), I jumped back to Chris’ interview and found this intriguing thought from Chris about the BET Awards MJ Tribute and Oprah not reaching out to have him on the show. Check it out, below!
Chris Brown on being removed from the BET Awards…
“It was wack. I’ll keep it a hundred. The BET Awards was horrible. I was watching it, holding my face like, ‘Oh my God this is wack’. I didn’t get it. Michael Jackson was such a big entertainer. And I’m not dissing any of the artists who did the songs. But I was expecting a lot more energy for Michael. And BET Awards usually comes hard. I was expecting them to have Usher, Omarion and even Justin. And I was expecting Ne-Yo to dance. They were so bent on not getting me there that they messed up their own show.”
Chris Brown on being scrutinized by Oprah….
“I didn’t get a call from them or anything. I felt embarrassed, but at the same time I felt stabbed in the back. Ok, Oprah you have so much power and people really listen to what you say. You don’t know anything that went down and you jump to conclusions and start brining people on the set that have no similarities to me other than a domestic dispute. And then compare them to me when she’s around me and knows me. She could have called me and been like, “Chris, let me get you on my show and I’m going to do this kind of segment.”
Well damn (Gucci Mane voice). Chris didn’t hold any punches this time around. Tell em why you mad, son. Real quick, Chris if you’re reading this, BET had about three to four days to put together a tribute. Of course it wasn’t the GREATEST show on earth, but with three to four days of preparation, I can honestly say it came out better than expected. And let’s not act like your krumpin’ self would’ve made a world of difference, buddy. But hey, what do I know, I’m just a blogger, lol.
The rest of the interview is pretty exceptional, to say the least. Big shouts to Erik Parker for really getting the goods out of Chris’ noggin. I’m sure you guys will just LOVE Chris even more after this lol. At least Breezy was honest lol.
Sincerely
