Always on top of things on this side of town, SoundOff is back with another exclusive for all the Lloyd and Ludacris fans out there in SoundOff land. I (LowKey) hit up the A-Town this weekend to get some Easy Access footage of Lloyd’s new video, “How We Do It (Around My Way)” featuring Ludacris.

Friday April 4th 11:21pm: (Flight Attendant) “Welcome To Atlanta”

 Saturday Arpil 5th, 2008 9:45am- I arrived at the set and met up with John, my camera guy. After 20 minutes of searching for DanTan, we’re told by the assistant director we can’t shoot anybody or anything until we obtain clearance. The emailing begins……

 
9:55am- After several back and forth emails between DanTan, and Byron from Universal we were told we had the green light to begin shooting. JD, the assistant director, still didn’t budge…..

10:21am- The yellow Lambo arrives. Probably the prettiest thing I’ve seen on four wheels….I mean other than my Acura TSX (Duh!).

10:42am- One of the P.A.’s (the one in the stripped shirt) approaches us and says “you guys are good to go, shoot whatever you need”. Ahhhhh the fun begins…

 10:50am- I received the evil eye from about 5 of the models when I was snapping this picture. When they heard I was filming “Easy Access” (I came up with the name lol), an online version of BET’s Access Granted, things changed with the QUICKNESS lol….

10:56am- Introduced myself to Chaka Zulu, Disturbing The Peace CEO, and requested some talk time with Ludacris…..he happily agreed!

11:01am- After a couple photos of the Lambo and some footage of several models while they were getting their hair and make-up done, we run into Lloyd for a quick interview.

11:10am- We grab about 6 video vixens (only three of them are shown here) to discuss the significance of Atlanta music, fashion and culture. Surprisingly, it turned out better than I expected. My most prized moment was when they nailed the “You Are Now Watching Easy Access” on one take.

11:39am- The dancing sequences finally start to take place. John begins to film bits and pieces, while I snap some shots of the directors, Tony P and J.D. make some last minute changes.

11:48am- This is how they do it in Miami……

12:00pm- One particular young lady with an orange dress (the one pictured above) makes repeated eye contact with me. We engage in a stare down, but my silly ass can’t keep a straight face so I end up cracking up. Embarrassed by what just happened, I grab my blackberry and put it to my ear, which causes for more embarrassment. I swear I’m the most awkward person you’ll ever meet lol.

12:23pm- A different set of ladies are called onto the set for different shots. They were all busting their ASSSES the entire day for that “15 Minutes of Fame” shot…

12:26pm- Boss Lady, K.O. calls to check on how things are moving. I inform her everything is copasetic and I’m having a GREAT time. I begin to tell her how I think this whole Jay/Beyonce wedding is a big hoax in connection with Ashton Kutcher’s new show, Pop Fiction. I list the reasons why, but she still thinks it went down. We’ll save this topic for another blog.

12:35- Nicole, the casting director, sets us up to interview the three featured models for the video. Though I won’t name any names or post any pics (sorry ladies, your rude lil buddy screwed that up for ya), 1 out of the three we interviewed was VERY unpleasant. And since I’m a gentleman, I’ll refrain from discussing this issue any further.

12:42pm- Chaka notifies me that Luda is ready for us. We leave the set, hit the bus and get busy. During the interview  Luda tells us about his new website, WeMixx and  if he could collaborate on a whole album with one artist, it would be Mary J. Blige.

1:29pm- We return to the set to film Lloyd and Luda’s performance. After about 12 takes (Tony P wanted to get it jussssst right), we break for lunch.

2:21pm- We talk with Tony P about the vision of the video and how it was going thus far. He enthusiastically told us he was pleased with the outcome so far and continues to throw up the “A” with his two fingers.

2:45pm- After a couple more brief interviews with some of the extras about the different styles among certain cities, we head back to shoot MORE dancing scenes. This time, Lloyd, Luda and the crowd are all being shot together.

3:00pm- This is how they do it in NYC…..

3:12pm- Standing….

3:27PM: More standing ……

3:30pm- Since we felt we were shooting the same scenes over and over and over, we take our own break and find some mischief to get involved with. John and I both succeed lol…(whas good Liz??).

4:00- J.D. giving some last minute instructions before they start shooting….

4:21pm- Time for some solo shots…..

4:48pm- This is how they do it in the “A”…..

5:00pm- After getting into numerous amounts of mischief, we return to work only to be informed by one of the P.A.’s that for one of the scenes, the set will be closed off to everyone except crew and talent. More mischief occurs…..

5:44pm- Since I’d been asking every 5 minutes on whether or not the set was reopened, the P.A. finally granted us access.

6:00- This is how they do it in Philly……

6:39pm- Lloyd and Luda hit the set to film some still shots of them in the Lambo. By this time, my camera battery is dead and I’m left relying on my photogenic memory to recall some of the shots I watched. But before my battery dies out, I managed to get this sick shot of me with Luda in the background.
