It Was All Good Just A Week Ago…….

And the mud slinging begins……A couple days ago rumblings of JD being ousted from the golden hallways of Def Jam were circulating throughout the internet and of course, I took notice. Joking, I suggested, “That’s what he gets for recording all those Living The Life webisodes…talking with his hands and sh*t. That man was never in his office, lol”. I’m now coming to believe that notion has become a reality.
Now since JD was moving in silence in regards to the so called “termination”, I figured it was nothing to take serious; a mere disagreement amongst the high powers over on 49th St. But, when I saw this headline in an email blast yesterday, “I haven’t spoken to LA Reid in three months”, my “Ahhhhhhh sh*t” radar hit OVERDRIVE.
JD sat down with ESSENCE.com and briefly explained the break down, if you can even call it that, between him, and LA Reid, “I haven’t spoken to L.A. [Reid] in three months. I don’t know if it’s amicable [considering] that they claim they put me out. I feel like it’s not amicable. Don’t lie, be real about the situation. It goes back to their having the attitude of let’s try and do something that’s going to hurt this person, because if it hurts us we have nowhere to go after this, but he does and has at least another 20 more years in this business. Again, if L.A. [Reid] gets fired, there will be at least another ten people who will also get fired and we’ll never see them again. Def Jam is like one big clique.”

Upping the mud slinging anty, JD even called L.A., get ready for this….JEALOUS, “I don’t know. I saw a side of him that I had never seen before and that to me was a jealous side. I don’t know if I should be around people who are jealous of me. Mariah Carey sold more records in that entire Def Jam building and all of that was through my singles; so I’m looking like the golden boy. I only started thinking about it after I left.”
Where. What. Who. Why. When. How………I want all those questions answered ASAP. Where did the communication break down? Was Reid jealous of his relationship with Mariah? Did he despise the little lucky charm for wifing Ms. Jackson? Did L.A.’s request to be in one of JD’s, “Living The Life” webisodes get turned down because he wasn’t hip enough? So many questions, so little information.
What do you guys think? What happen between JD and “The Clique” (The funniest thing JD’s ever said in his LIFE). Where does that leave his So So Def imprint? Go head……..SOUND OFF!!

You should have posted the entire interview. Def Jam been having problems ever since LA REID took office. The label don’t even support there rap artists. They have a roster of rap cats on the label they don’t even support. Its more of a r&b label. The only rap artist who has had descent amount success is Kanye. Jay Z step down. Now JD is gone, I’m really curious to know the real reason why SHAKIR STEWART commited suicide. Was his job on the line?
YOYO was SHAKIR STEWART death really a suicide???????????????? I think it is more to that story that people are talking about. So was there a “CLIQUE” when he was there???? Or is he just saying that because he no longer works there??????????? UMMMMMMMMM??????? Def Jam really needs 2 get it 2gether because albums dnt sell like the used to. Marketing is the key now the more you are on tv the more albums u will sell. In a min everybody is going to have a reality show. That seems 2 be the key 2 sucess.
I happen to agree w/ the both of you. However, I think he was fired – AGAIN. 1st Virgin, now this. Both he & Reid are alike, imho. Neither of them know how to run a record label. They’re clueless. And, my guess is that if Reid doesn’t get the ax himself, Def Jam will be down the tubes.
