Jermaine Dupri To Work With Usher on Next Lp
December 28th, 2008
Can JD help Usher return to greatness? Let me just say if Usher’s next album isn’t up to par, I think it’s safe to say he’s completely lost it. Here I Stand wasn’t a bomb dropped on the industry like Confessions was, it was the case of the ball being dropped. Don’t get me wrong, he had a couple cuts on the project that made some noise (”Trading Places”, “Love In This Club” ) but everything else practically enhanced my ability to press the next track button.
Sharing the same sentiment, Jermaine Dupri, one of the masterminds behind Usher’s epic Confessions Lp, is gearing up to work with the R&B titan starting January 16. JD made the announcement during his latest “Living The Life” YouTube webisode. Dupri said while sipping on a glass of red wine, “I’m starting on Usher’s album January 16, so episodes of “Living The Life” starting on January 16 will be about Usher’s album; how it’s taking place and what’s going on with it.”
Could this possibly mean Usher’s presence will be once again felt significantly in the R&B realm? In addition to JD assisting with Usher’s return, our modern day BabyFace, Neyo, will also lending a helping hand on Usher’s sixth album. Back in November, Neyo was the first artist to publicly reveal his true feelings about Here I Stand (slide over here to read). What would really be amazing if JD added Neyo to his Dream Team of writers and producers ( Johnta Austin, Brian M. Cox) to help Usher get back on top.
Can JD, Usher and Neyo create the ultimate project??? What are your thoughts????
Sincerely

First of all i dont think that usher lost it at all. It is sad to say that we are so critical of these artists when they decide to grow up through there music. We complain about the context of alot of these songs and videos and then when a artist such as usher shows growth and/or maturity we are critical. Maybe the person who wrote this went to the next track because he hasn’t grown up. Usher gets married and we act like he threw his career away. One’s life should never be one’s career. Its your career that should be your life and right now ushers career is his family and that is what we are hearing in his music. I don’t think there is anything wrong with that.
I love usher!! I have ever since his career started. I also think that his album was great i liked it.
I agree. If you are a true fan you can appreciate the music no matter where the artist is in their lives. Usher takes the time to live his life which in my opinion makes his music better. Living life makes the music that much more real to relate to. I love Here I Stand for what it was..not what it should’ve been. Ne-yo is one to talk..because in all honesty all but maybe 3 songs on his joint were album fillers. But hey..who am I.
hell yeah usher’s still got it i think he just made some poor decisions with the last album certain songs could have been released off the album to give it more buzz; but def jd and usher work very well together and i think the fact that he only put a couple jd produced tracks on here i stand, is the reason it had such a lackluster impact. As for neyo he’s a very talented writer I just hope he puts his best effort into the project and doesn’t try to hold back for fear that usher will outshine neyo as an artist.
I’m sure JD & Usher can pull this off with no prob! I’d sure like to do a track with them. Much success to them 2009 & on.
Personally, I didn’t think Here I Stand was bad at all. Sure, it was nothing compared to Confessions, but to say that Usher lost his touch doesn’t really seem fair.
Having Neyo and JD work on his next album would be pretty hot though. I’m interested in what they come up with and hopefully they’ll live up to the hype that everybody’s giving them (and we all know that they can deliver).
Hope for the best, much love
