Kanye West Apologizes to Taylor Swift…Again

August 5th, 2010

I don’t know about you guys, but Kanye West’s new album couldn’t come soon enough. In addition to still bumping “Power” and eagerly awaiting the video’s world premiere tonight, I’ve been getting my daily Kanye fix via Twitter.

In any event, Yeezy took to the stage in Singapore last night and delivered a heartfelt off the dome freestyle over his “Power” instrumental. He often paused between lines to gather his thoughts and eventually got into a rhythm, at which point he began apologizing for last year’s Taylor Swift controversy. While he never name checked the incident, the reference was crystal clear.

“And I’m so sorry to y’all, everyone of y’all that had to fight for my name,” ‘Ye spit. “Every one of y’all a year ago that I made feel ashamed/ Everyone that said Kanye is that n—-, quit taking names/ And all y’all … I’m the one to blame/ And to the people that I let down, I wanna tell you right here, right now that I’m a new man that understands my relation to power.”

I think the Kanye backlash is over. He went on hiatus just long enough and now the public’s looking forward to hearing his next album. My views don’t necessarily represent the views of BET.com, but let me say this. Kanye West is the best rapper alive. Jay-Z’s the G.O.A.T., but no one in rap music’s been more consistent than Yeezy in the past five years. What do you guys think? Does West need to keep apologizing? Is all forgiven? SOUND OFF!
