Thank you Patrian…I was definitely going to say a similar thing. The Grammys are about the artist’s music, not his or her personal life. Apparently the Academy felt that she was worthy of her awards since she won 5 out of 6.

The grammys have been that way for years when whitney huston was going through her problem you did’nt see her on no grammy awards its what it is. @nyota…It isn’t Amy’s job/responsibility to be an “example/role model”. It is up to the parents/guardians/village/community. This is about “art” and Amy excelled in that area. Also, this isn’t American Idol. Who cares if so and so can sing circles around Amy. They most likely don’t write their own music or even play an instrument. It is the “body of work” that she was rewarded for-not who has the most range and/or can sing the loudest. That kind of thinking is so one-dimensional.

Ms. Cole is a big hater. The Grammy Awards are about what an artist has accomplished music wise. It has nothing to do with a persons personal life. Amy Winehouse does have a lot of issues right now and personally I don’t think that she should have been banned from the event. But the bottom line is that the girl is talented and she deserved every award she got that night. If it’s such a big deal to Ms. Cole, she should give back the awards she received when she was struggling w/ drugs years ago.

Natalie Cole is NOT hater. Come on, ppl. I bet most of ya are too young to remember how great she was as a singer/performer, etc. She helped paved the way for the singers of today. Therefore, she DESERVES to be listened to. She’s a voice of experience. When she said that she disagree w/ the Grammys allowing Amy to perform, win those awards, etc, she’s telling the truth. Sure, Natalie was getting awards during her drug time, BUT that’s just it! She knows how getting all this praise during drug times, is NOT A GOOD THING! All it does is motivate ppl to continue DOING WHAT THEY’RE DOING! And NOT get the help needed.

Remember Mary J admitted to using drugs, didn’t she perform and win grammys, Whitney Houston had been suspected of doing drugs for years before it was actually confirmed. Do you not think she performed and won a Grammy or two during that time. I also remembe when Natalie Cole had a drug problem and got herself clean. Maybe she is hating or just concerned.
