Nelly Defends Soulja Boy, Calls Ice T An Old Geezer

September 14th, 2008

Nelly defends the lil homey!

The crusade for “Leave of Soulja Boy Alone” has now picked up St. Lunatic, Nelly, and the newest addition to Sean John’s modeling team has PLENTY to say. Since the start of this perciluar feud, many of the industry’s OG’z have stepped in to voice their concern in regards to Ice-T speaking out against the 18 year old youngster, many of which, suggest that the Ice man go about his business.

In an exclusive interview with ThisIs50.Com, Nelly, basically lets the west coast legend have it, to say the least. “Hip hop was created for the youth, by the youth, so why is all these old mothafu*kaz trying to control it, you know what I’m saying? asks an obviously aggitated Nelly. He continues later in the clip, “How the fu*k you gon tell a 14 year old boy or a 14 year old girl that they shouldn’t be listening to that, when your parents told you that LL Cool J wasn’t music?”

It’s actually insanely heat warming to see these established artists step up to the plate and defend Soulja because that lets us further know the hip hop generation gap isn’t that far apart. I wonder if Ice ever thought the reaction to his “I hate Soulja Boy” rant would cause this much controversy? Or, was it a ploy for the old fellar to regain relevancy in today’s Hip Hop realm??

Wait, Nelly isn’t finished with Mr. Colors. He also posed the question, “What are you doing listening to a 17 year old boy anyway, judging him? That sh^t right there is wack, that’s the wackest part ever….it’s like come on man, you look like a fu*king old geezer telling them kidz that. Those kidz don’t know no fu@kin Ice-T”. OUCH!

Well, I COMPLETELY understand Nelly’s POV. And like Ice-T, I once shared the same sentiments of the “Soulja Boy Killed Hip Hop” rhetoric, but once I started to really grasp that the lil homey was just having fun and providing for his loved ones, I quickly sat my hatin ass down and erased the “I’m a 25 year old bitter hip hop brother” sign from my forehead, because in reality, that’s all Ice-T is…..BITTER!

Sincerely

Honestly, Solja Boy maks music for kids, im mean kids of a sense from ages 5 to 16 years old, and i will defend Ice T one of the original gangstas in the business and yes NELLY they still run it. If u speak on the terms of age all of todays artist are not young at all. Promotions and etc lie about their ages and all, all the lil secrects of the music business I know, typically to use for public perception…hmm remember that word and remember it well. Im from Chicago my self and all da hottest people are now older than me including Twista. so Ice T 1 up Doc fa real, Thats why kids act the way they do, and say the things they say, if ur in the kid market, rap about barney!

I really think most of you all that left wack comments about Nelly defending Soulja Boy really need to grow up…He’s a kid rapper, who’s relating to the kids.. point blank if you don’t wanna listen to him…STOP…there’s nothing more dumb than adults being immature…I’m 33 and I listen to old school and what my kids listen too…as for as some of you parents out their, you really should be more involved in your kids education…and finding a solution on how to keep them off the streets. It’s messed up that our black people as a whole can’t just give one another his/her props for doing something decent with their lives…As for all the people who gave negative comments…find a better job..or get one..cause it seems you have a lot of time on your hands..Go to church!

Let me start by saying….. Charlene, I agree with you about the comments but there are some people that still live in Ice T’s stone age! I think Nelly will always have a right to speak his mind about anything, just like you and me! Why should he be hated for defending a young person that’s part of Hip Hop that one day may lead to more than just music! Any color code that makes it to BET will always be a legend regardless of what anyone think’s b/c it’s up to the view’s and fan’s not us as a individual! People should be glad that we as African American’s defend each other b/c if we don’t who else is there to depend on! Think about it……. you better hope that Obama is the president b/c if not then most of you will be turning that hater aid to the person that will be needing it the most……… McCain!!

I am very much familiar with Ice T and so are my children. Now was he wrong for making the statement; sure he was…however, Nelly is wrong as well because I must be honest; if it wasn’t for all this collaborative music, a lot of artists, including Nelly music wouldn’t selling at big numbers. I mean I hear the young folks talking and they’re not praising Nelly either. I’m not a hater; I just believe in being fair. I agree that both the old and new hip-hop should be praised. All we’ve been getting from these new hip-hop artist CD’s are maybe one or two hits out of 15 to 20 songs; except my Boy Jeezy and Lil Wayne.

Nelly needs 2 shut up!!!!!…mind your own business Nelly!!!!!….IceT is a legend, movie star, actor, rapper, etc….Nelly just started making movies and he can’t act….stay out of that legend business….ok…I like Soulja Boy….but just because Nelly thinks he has muscles all of a sudden is the only reason why he saying something….I think IceT and Soulja Boy should make a song together….Nellie need to hush….

I think we miss the point here, the point is not who say what but where does Hip Hop go from here. Do we continue to play comedian clowns to gain financial rewards, we all know that it takes one brother or sister to make a mistake and we all become bad. Its more then that, it about respect and the lack of it. Personally I said fuk Nelly he should have more respect for a lengend and Ice T should consider Souljah Boy is no different themselves when he was young. Hip Hop is not our salvation but a voice we can use to convey a message of hope, responsiblity, community and unity! More postive, we are not niggers or dogs, those steroetypes were create for you by your masters for your own self destruction.

Nelly speakin on Hip Hop is like awarding George Bush with the Noble peace prize? That bama need to go make another drill tip vid. Sadly, unlike GoGo, Blues, Country, and Jazz the Hip Hop community has no respect for it’s originators. Ice needs to have a little more class when speakin to the youngsters. On the real though, Ice put in mad work (breakin and all that), 6 in Morning, Colors, Rhme Pays, NJ Hustler…$yndicate Fool!

I know for a fact that Ice- T meant by saying what he said is that these young artist today need to have some substance about themselves when it comes to representing what the legends of hip hop started. There is a diference from sounding grimmey and sounding uneducated. Hip Hop has gone from having a message and fun to silly. Now there needs to be some type of logic to what has been debated and honestly speaking this mess that they call hip hop is just not hittin like it was back in the days truthfully. Soulja Boy needs to concentrate on educating himself instead of investing in Bape sneakers!!!!! That is the way you represent something show that you have some real skills and not always show the ignorance.

Well, Nelly’s latest CD was a total flop anyway, so it just shows how much he knows about the current state of hip hop.
