Is Plies hip hop’s next fibber? HipHopDx thinks so.
What in the world is going on this year? First, Akon hit us with the SERIOUS pumpfake about his prior convictions, then Mr. Richard Ross issued a fib about his previous employment affairs (and got his CARD pulled)…NOW, Mr. Certified Goon himself, Plies, is at the center of HipHopDX’s attempt at blowing his thuggery cover.
If you’re familiar with Plies’s catalogue, then you’re aware of his “GOONISH” vernacular and how often it’s used. Though the investigation isn’t exactly closed, HHDX did pull some interesting facts from Plies’s previous law entanglements. Check out what they found….
“The FDLE’s criminal record for Plies shows that the self-described “goon affiliated, ex drug dealer” who’s “resume solid, street cred bigger” has been arrested just twice within his home state of Florida during his adult life, with both arrests taking place two years ago. The 32-year-old was arrested for the first time at the age of 29 on April 12, 2006 for the misdemeanor charge of resisting an officer without violence.
The latter of his two adult arrests came during a well-publicized shooting at a Gainesville, Florida nightclub after a Plies performance on July 2, 2006. According to reports, members of the rapper’s entourage, including his older brother, Ronell “Big Gates” Lavatte, pulled out guns and fired in the club after Plies, who’s performance was running long, became angry when his microphone was cut off so that Lil Boosie could begin to perform.”

Is there a particular reason why these “thugged out rappers” are issuing these false life styles? I mean, is it that EASY to fool the consumer into believing they were dodging bullets at the tender age of 7??? What do you make of this foolery???? Chime in, NOW!!!

Man, everyone in the industry CAN NOT be a thug, you mean to tell me that people are fool enough to believe them. just because somebody says that they a goon, druggie or thug does not make them one….it’s all image…..and they are selling the crap out of it. If you going to like something about the entertainers, like their talents, and not their image, because you willl be looking like a fool when this person becomes exposed….and “making money” isn’t all there is to be glorified, with all these “ringtone rappers” out here….talent means a lot, and if you do not have it, you will be around for maybe 2 years at the most….duece…………

Hip-Hop is fake. These wanna be rappers just make up sh– and breast-feed it to the masses, and some of them actually buy into the hype. Hip Hop is not about the art form anymore it’s about gettin it: 1. gettin over, 2. gettin money, 3. gettin out before you get busted as a fraud. Guess Plies wasn’t fast enough. Oh well he will still sell records.
just because he doesnt have a criminal record doesnt meant that he isnt a goon…he could just possibly be discrete with his criminal affairs and found a way to beat the system. not all drug dealers get caught or have records.

It’s amazing to see some of these comments that are toatally irrelevant to the matter at hand. To be a FULL BLOODED GOON is not to have a mile long criminal rap sheet, but to have the heart nd the mind set to “ride out” at ANY COST and to ANY EXTENT for the people in your circle or to enforce your morals. The odds having a record like his with being 30+ and coming from what he came from are slim to none, an accomplishment! A rap sheet doesn’t define reality or a real “goon”. I respect it and suggest u recognize nd do the same, yet only real recognizes real! Jus remember for future reference…{Goons} aren’t looked up or heard about, they’re whispered about…lol
Plies is like all these other fake thugs and real thugs. Being a thug is nothing to proud of. Ask any of these so called thugs if they would want their kids to grow up to be a thug or their daughter to marry one. Like Kweli said “It’s like slaves on ship arguing over who got the biggest chains!”
