On Location: HOT 97 Presents Cam’ron @ The Highline Ballroom

KILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAA! I know Killa’s not a popular commodity around these parts, but it’s sort of impossible to ignore the excellence that is Killa, especially after the show he put on last night at The Highline Ballroom in NYC.
HOT 97 & Funkmaster Flex hosted Cam’s return to midtown Manhattan and the entire Tri-State union had no problem dishing out the warm welcome. A diverse crowd to say the least, Killa had each Highline patron singing along to vintage and even exclusive material without missing a single absurd phrase or reinvented slang term.
As of late, I haven’t necessarily been an advocate of Killa’s new material (just doesn’t do it for me), but after witnessing Cam’s energy/movement last night, it’s evident Cam isn’t phased by the absence of his three amigos.
Cam revisited cuts from Killa Season (”Get Em Girls), Purple Haze (”Down & Out”), Come Home With Me (”Oh Boy”) and Diplomatic Immunity (”I Really Mean It”). Some of the cuts brought back dope memories, but the sets would’ve been complete had the original set graced the stage to sing back up on the aforementioned cuts.
