Question of the Day: T-Pain or The Dream

August 8th, 2008

One hearts the Auto-Tuner and the other writes like there’s no tomorrow. Take your pick!

Since I missed the Question of the Day yesterday, its only right I start off today’s SoundOff festivities with the first, Question of the Day. So it’s painfully obvious that The Dream and T-Pain are probably the most sought out Songwriters/Hook Creators/Producer/Auto-Tune advocates right now and anything they lay their vocals to seems catapults to another echelon.
Let’s take a look at both of their existing present and future collaborative/features list.

T-Pain

Working with Ciara on her new album, Fantasy Ride

Working with Timbaland on his new album, Shock Value Vol.2

Featured on Lil Wayne’s current single, “Got Money”

Featured on Busta Rhymes new LP, Blessed

Featured on Michael Jackson’s new project

Working with Kanye West for a new project

The Dream

Penned Ciara’s first single, “High Price”

Featured on LL Cool J’s current single, “Baby”

Featured on Plies’ current single, “Please Excuse My Hands”

Featured on T.I.’s new album, Paper Trail (“Like I Do” )

Working on Lindsay Lohan’s new album, Spirit in the Dark

Penned Kerri Hilson’s current single, “Energy”

Ok, so here’s where it gets complicated. Since both of their track records are pretty impressive, this question is directed to all my up and coming singers/rappers and producers. If you had the choice, who would you pick to collaborate with on your first single?

Both, T-Pain and The Dream are extremely talented, but of course, each individual has something the other is missing. Scroll down, hit that comments section and explain to ME who you would pick and WHY? So what it’s Friday, we’re still getting it poppin over on this side of town.

Sincerely

Low “Either way, I’m sure both, T-Pain or The Dream would deliver” Key

Well, I’m a fan of “real” music. Music with meaning to it. I’ve heard tons of T-Pain tracks as well as tons of tracks by The Dream. The Dream has a more fresh music vibe. He is lyrically dominate b/c his lyrics are actually complicated and not so hip-hop based. He’s not just “looking for a hit”. He makes some really interesting tracks and I’m always interested to hear what he has next—whether it’s a track that he wrote for someone else or a track that he is laying himself. With T-Pain—I’m not so much interested as I used to be. I always can expect the same from him. His lyric content is not at all diverse…He sings about the same things these rappers sing about. I can’t remember one track that I heard from him that was really meaningful, to me at least. Not hating, just stating. The Dream penned “Umbrella” by Rihanna and “Bed” by J.Holiday. Both of these tracks had interesting lyrics. I can dig that way more than “take off your clothes; I’m Teddy-Pend-her-ass; I love strippers” etc…Not saying that The Dream doesn’t sing sexually [duhhh....bed was about sex...] but his lyrics are done in a very mature, grown&sexy type of way. Bed wasn’t at all vulgar…It was just sweet and to the point. Done with class. He didn’t say, “Let me take your panties off.” He said, “I wanna put you to bed.” I can dig that as well. Well anways, let me stop babbling.

The American Dream…however they both are talented but T Pain sounds just the same on everything….I am going for The Dream he more lyrically he write well for both men and women…I think Tpain is more R&B and Rap and the Dream is a little Rap, POP, R&B and sure if asked he can write a country song….I mean is the man behind umberella

The-Dream!!!

Rihanna’s song, “Umbrella” was a WORLD-WIDE SMASH HIT!
J. Holiday’s song was #1. I’ll choose The-Dream, 1st Choice!

But if i want like a Club Banger, probably Teddy..
