Question of the Day: T-Pain or The Dream

August 8th, 2008

One hearts the Auto-Tuner and the other writes like there’s no tomorrow. Take your pick!

Since I missed the Question of the Day yesterday, its only right I start off today’s SoundOff festivities with the first, Question of the Day. So it’s painfully obvious that The Dream and T-Pain are probably the most sought out Songwriters/Hook Creators/Producer/Auto-Tune advocates right now and anything they lay their vocals to seems catapults to another echelon.
Let’s take a look at both of their existing present and future collaborative/features list.

T-Pain

Working with Ciara on her new album, Fantasy Ride

Working with Timbaland on his new album, Shock Value Vol.2

Featured on Lil Wayne’s current single, “Got Money”

Featured on Busta Rhymes new LP, Blessed

Featured on Michael Jackson’s new project

Working with Kanye West for a new project

The Dream

Penned Ciara’s first single, “High Price”

Featured on LL Cool J’s current single, “Baby”

Featured on Plies’ current single, “Please Excuse My Hands”

Featured on T.I.’s new album, Paper Trail (“Like I Do” )

Working on Lindsay Lohan’s new album, Spirit in the Dark

Penned Kerri Hilson’s current single, “Energy”

Ok, so here’s where it gets complicated. Since both of their track records are pretty impressive, this question is directed to all my up and coming singers/rappers and producers. If you had the choice, who would you pick to collaborate with on your first single?

Both, T-Pain and The Dream are extremely talented, but of course, each individual has something the other is missing. Scroll down, hit that comments section and explain to ME who you would pick and WHY? So what it’s Friday, we’re still getting it poppin over on this side of town.

Sincerely

Low “Either way, I’m sure both, T-Pain or The Dream would deliver” Key

i thought teddy was losing it but I CANT BELIEVE IT WITH WAYNE made me realize im looking forward to the next t-pain album. his sound was laughed at before but lil wayne, kanye and other rappers have endorsed the sound. but then again dream because dude is diverse and he brings me this feeling that prince gives me. its was like a whole new breath of fresh air when i heard his cd. tough question BET U GOT ME.

Dang..The-Dream is good but, T-Pain be on some exclusiveness too. I’d have to say T-Pain he got more hits. However, The-Dream’s gotten a fabulous start. He’s most def on his way to the top, digg?

T-PAIN ALL THA WAY…HE BEEN HOLDING IT DOWN FOR A MIN!!!

Neither, Imma roll with either Pharell………..

JRT Obama 08 Said on

i take that back, imma roll with T-pain, because everything that he touches turns into a smash…The-dream is decent, but t-pain music reaches more of the masses…..especially if i want a hit, i riding with mr. teddy penderazzdown…..

T-PAIN Fo’Sho because he reppin our hometown Tallahasse, and for the record every song you heard him on sounds good!!!

I WOULD PICK THE DREAM B/C HIS SONGS 2 ME FEEL LIKE THERE REALLY REAL. T- PAIN SONGS ARE KINDA LIKE THE SAME OLD THING OVER AND OVER AGAIN

Cute guy!,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, But I am just a bit curious..the magazine HOLLYWOOD GOSSIP reported his profile was found on the famous rich men dating site ___________ http://RichMatchMaking.com ___________m last week and he was seeking his sugar babe there. ………………wow.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i dont care for neither, but once in a while i like hearing the dream’s songs. t-pain sings about the same old dumb stuff. and sometimes he dances around like a clown. but i see everyone is copying his style with the whole voice mechanic thing.

Krysten Said on

Well they both killing R&B where are the real singers?

For Your Forst Single You Need To Pick T-pain…If You’re Just Trying To Get Out There Yourself I Don’t Think You Should Pick The Dream Because He’s Fairly New Himself…..Just My Opinion…..I LOVE Them Both Though!!!!

Its very essential that we have both The Dream and T-Pain because they bring so much to the game of music, imagery, and fashion. T-Pain is a modern day version of Roger Troutman. The Dream is superb with his instant classic,”Falsetto.” They show us so much promise and creativity with their music. I hope they keep making music and never rest on their accomplishments.

i agree wit picking Dream for slow songs. His voice is really sxi on slow songs.I also agree wit T-Pain doing party tracks.Anything T-Pain touches is turns to gold. He’s dat good. And Dream is a new comer but his track record is impressive.I choose both. They just dat good.

ladyp Said on

the dream reminds me of a horny old man running behind young girls…can’t stand his little a$$…always oohing and ahhing doesn’t make a good song…
falsetto is a prime example of a song that should be great but is missing the mark on what REAL r&b should be…I love Ciara, but High Price is not that great either…feel bad for her on that one
t pain’s scary too, but put him on a party track and it’s a hit…with him, at least you get some fun

ladyp Said on

another thing…anyone notice that the dream’s songs don’t contain a lot of lyriics???? how good a writer is he really, if he comes up with one line and repeats it? (Umbrella-ella-ella aye aye aye) (put you to bed bed bed, put you to bed bed bed)
i will condede that he makes hits…but that just says that music lovers settle for mediocre these days

people are so into hot now music
which is fine
but what about promoting
longevity and good old soul music
music that people can remember forever
and not get tired of hearing about it
