Sneak Peek: Young Jeezy

I think Young Jizzle’s got something with this Recession album. With a title like The Recession, I thought to myself, ‘Hmmm, Jeezy’s about to show a different side to his demographic’. And though the tracks I did get to hear weren’t solely about the economic strife we’re all enduring right now, he did manage to keep a good portion of his the commentary aimed towards that specific topic.
The Recession, which opens up the album, is an ode to the aforementioned album title. DJ Toomp, who produced the cut, does an exceptional job setting the mood for the album. It’s not so much a “feel sorry for my people” vibe, but more like, “you can feel sorry for us, but either way, we’re going to eat, regardless” vibe. Jeezy candidly raps “This is a recession, everybody’s broke”. On the triumphant, “Who Dat”, Jeezy and the beat battle it out for the consumer’s attention, but of course Jeezy takes the cake, although that beat was thumping extremely hard. Chest poked out and all, Jeezy resorts back to his trapping memories rapping, “This is aint a mix tape, but the tape mix/black tape, red tape all on one brick”. Yea I know, selling drugs is bad, but Young Jizzle makes it sound soooooooo cool, lol (KIDDING!).
“Vacation”, which was actually released last night (listen to “Vacation” right here!), is the projects second single. Seeming stressed out, Jeezy whisks himself away to several destinations in hopes of escaping the BS of his everyday life. “I need a peace of mind, some relaxation/I’m minding my business, so why you ni**az hatin?”,Jeezy asks over an eerie DJ Nasty instrumental. “Let Them Dollars Circulate” the projects best cut, well at least to me, will surprise the ISH out of every Jeezy fan. Hell, Jizzle might even acquire some new advocates after they get a taste of it on September 2nd. Jeezy even surprises me when he raps, “Lookin at my stacks asking where the f*ck is the rest at/looking at my watch like its a bad investment”. What??? Jeezy questioning his extravagant spending habits?? Wow, it really must be a recession, huh?
On the cut “My President Is Black” which now has label mate Nasir Jones featured on it (Nas’s vocals weren’t added when I was previewing the album, but I was informed they were recorded the night before) highlights Jeezy’s thoughts on embracing a black president. And of course, I pick the quote that doesn’t exemplify that, lol! “My president’s black, my lambo is blue/and I’ll be damn if my rims ain’t too”
Jeezy did his thing, to say the least. It’s not a classic, but it damn sure is worth the 12.99 over at Best Buy.

That “Dollar Circulate” Track might be the best thing out here. While Giving
shout outs to dilla on the #@? the DJ keep that track in rotation.
Jeezy is definitely 1 of my top five rappers (Fab, Wayne, BunB, Luda, Kanye). I don’t think he will pull in more numbas as Wayne but I got a feelin that his album will actually be better!
jeezy is in fact one of the best rappers alive if you ask me.

**what’s up imma chick and is’nt really into to hip hop/rap not unless it off the chain and is real shi*t about real life …. but I’ve always, always been a fan of Young Jeezy he is the best —- there’s only a few of those out in the industy but he is definitly up there with Jay Z, Biggie, Tupac, he’s got a different edge to his but his music still delivers some hott sh*t!!!!!!!!!!
