SoundOff TV: Fabolous @ Santos Party House
August 25th, 2009
Fabolous parties hard at Santos Party House…..Usually I have the type of night planned out. I receive the invitation 2 weeks in advance and plan my scheme of attack. Oh no, not this one. This time around, I was warned 5 hours before that Fab was showcasing his talents at Santos Party House. Sh*t- what to do.
No worries, my good homie J. Nicks hit me on the jack and let me know my “list game” was proper. Bet- no stress on my end. I arrived at Santos Party House a little after 7pm (doors opened at 7pm) and of course I had no clue at what the hell was going on. The bounce were aggressive, the street team was lethargic and the groupies were intact- typical NYC event.
“Get off the sidewalk and into the line, folks” the security guard yelled every 6 minutes. It was broad day light and about 43 people in line…it was obvious this security detail was extremely bored tonight. Me and my homey, EMitts were informed media check in was on the other side of the line, so we scurried across and made our way inside once we received our credentials.
The crowd was mixed. Old, young, black, white, smart, dumb and everything in between. It was obvious the show was lagging because the DJ started to play Wu-Tang. C’mon man, do you really think these young whopper snappers wanna hear Capaddonna at a Fabolous show? Yes I know it’s NYC, but damn…get with it.
Anyway, I snatched myself 2 drinks before the show started because I was just that bored. Fab was delaying his show and the DJ was running out of ideas. He already asked who ran the club. He already played the signature crowd participation gems and he even tried to reel us back in with a sappy MJ tribute. EPIC FAIL!
More drinks? Fine. My homey, Ali from RealTalkNy.Net spotted me without a beverage and insisted on filling my palm with another- who am I to argue. Still no Fabolous. The females were placed strategically. Some dressed to the T as if they were awaiting Fab to point them out during his show. Others were there looking for that “specific” creature who could let them “THROW IT IN THE BAG” and others, well…others didn’t give a sh*t…they just wanted a good show.
Finally…Fabolous arrived. His set was extremely easy and painless. He catered to the fellaz (”Breathe”, “I’ma Do It”, “Salute”, “Diamonds”) and played freeze tag with his female counterparts (”Miss Independent”, “Rockin That Thing”, “Shawty Is Da Sh*t”, “Make Me Better”, “Superwoman”). Oh, I forgot to mention he brought along his live band. Yeap, Fabolous is finally growing up.
There wasn’t one thing wrong with Fab’s set. Oh wait, I guess the shorty 6 feet to my left who through her purse up when “Throw It In The Bag” hit the speakers kind of made me gag. But other than that, we had a great time. Yes, I’m still buzzed by the 6 L.I.T’s I consumed, but so what, I’m still working…PROBLEM?????
Anyway, my commentary won’t be able to explain all of Fabolous’ antics, so I brought along the trusty old Flipcam…member that thing lol? ENJOY!
Sincerely
Low “Fabolous will soon be NYC’s hometown hero” Key
