You thought the other list was outrageous?????? Judging by this title, you can safely assume I rummaged through The Smoking Gun’s, Backstage write up on Lil Wayne. I can’t begin to tell you how excited I was to begin my list of foolish things Lil Weezy needed backstage for him and his goons.

One question though, when consuming assorted fruits, Gummy Bears, Dentyne Ice, potato chips and absurd amounts of liquor, is it necessary to ask for forks, spoons, knives, papers plates, ketchup, mustard, hot sauce, BBQ sauce, Salt and Pepper? I know he’s from the south, but Hot Sauce on original flavored Skittles is a little out of line. In fact, it’s not COOL AT ALL!

Anyway, I dug into my creative soul and thought it would be fun to pull out 10 key things Lil Wayne REALLY Needs On Tour. ENJOY!

10. Twitter. Instead of those inconsistent Weezy Blogs he releases every 6 months, sporadic updates via Twitter could easily keep us entertained as well as increase his word play since he only can type out 14o characters.

9. A Cameraman/Camera that streams live video footage during every waking second of that man’s tour. Imagine if we were able to watch Lil Wayne spazz on one of his flunkies for getting the wrong cough syrup. I can just picture the Lil Martian right now on NyQuil during one of his performances. Oh wait, that already happens. DRATS!

8. These! Lord knows we don’t need any more impromptu announcements of a new stash of a lil goon or goonette ransacking this beautiful thing we call earth.

7. A Log Sheet. Its obvious this guy shovels through 90 guest appearances and 180 guest backstage groupies A NIGHT, so I can only imagine what he turns down, on both accounts. “Uhh Wayne, Condoleezaa Rice is here for her 1:30 appointment”.

6. Headphones. After listening to some of the material Wayne’s delivered in the past 12 months, I honestly and faithfully believe this guy DOES NOT listen to any of the stuff he lays down after it’s recorded. Even the yes man on his team ponder saying “Nah Wayne, you might wanna try that again”.

5. HE REALLY needs not to request a “Chartered Lear Jet”. My god, Wayne? You’ve probably sold over 10 million records in your career thus far amd you’re telling me you can’t afford a jet BY NOW? Not to mention what you charge for your shows. What promoter in their RIGHT mind, in the past, has provided you with a Chartered Jet? Give me his name NOW!!! I can understand the Presidential Suite, the police escort and even the 50% cash payment upfront, but a Chartered Jet??? Negro, who you think you are, the Prince of Zamunda…STOP IT!

4. An Armored Truck. Nah, not for your money, homey…but for your material. In 2008, it’s become extremely clear that you’ve recorded more material than The Beatles, U2, Elvis and 2Pac combined. And frankly, I’m tired of hearing a new song/verse/hook every second, of every hour, of everyday, of every week, of every MONTH! I would actually enjoy you more if I heard a healthy helping of your material every other week or even month…..I prefer the latter, lol.

3. Someone to train him on metal detector etiquette. During the BET Hip Hop Awards in Atlanta, I witnessed first hand an episode between him and security and boy, was that ugly/entertaining/refreshing all in the same breath. Wayne, you’re asking for 25 backstage passes for each performance…do you REALLY think the head of security is going to just let you BREEZE past because you sold a million records in seven days?? The only black man in America that will never have to worry about a metal detector is Barack Obama and even STILL the security he’s passing through will slide him the evil eye. SMARTEN UP!

2. T-Pain. Wayne hearts Teddy. It’s just that simple.

1. JESUS!

To all my hardcore Wayne fans, this all in good, clean fun. I beg you, PLEASE do not get on here talking about, “MAN STOP HATING ON WAYNE, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH” Wanye is cool with me, but those tour requirements are just SILLY, SERIOUSLY!

Sincerely

Low “When I go on tour, all I need is a box of Apple Juice, a Bang Bang Boogie Coldstones Milkshake, my laptop and a pair of SB Blazers” Key

Keri Hilson speaks on the Barack Obama Experience….. I caught up with Keri Hilson a couple days ago to discuss her new album, who she is as a person as well as an artist, if she’s in love and what would it take for <strike>me </strike>a man to win her heart over, if he ever had the chance. To say the least, Keri’s a VERY interesting individual, but I’ll get into that later on in the week.

Check out this quick clip of Keri speaking on the Barack Obama “Experience” thus far. Isn’t she breathtaking??? YEP…SHE IS! Make sure you check back later this week for my exclusive sit down (I make it sound like it’s a 60 Minutes interview lol) with Keri Hilson. ENJOY!

Thanksgiving is tomorrow, but I’m giving my musical thanks today! Sometimes we take things for granted. Whether it be our cars, houses, health, or a nice cold bottle of apple juice (lol), we seem to forget to be thankful of the things that have come second nature to us. In the world of music, it’s the same way. We, at times, take for granted the fact that a lot of these artists put their personal life’s on the back burner to satisfy our consuming needs. I’m sure they hear this all the time from their fans, but never from the media outlets that critique their every move. So before I get into my Top 10, I would like to say THANK YOU. Even if I don’t like you, THANKS ANYWAY! Without further ado, here are Ten Things In Music To Be Thankful For

10. Artists STILL care about touring the country.

9. Lil Wayne has yet to overdose on whatever he sips from that cup…

8. This man’s passion has stayed the same since his arrival into hip hop….

7. The fact that BOTH of these albums will be released in 2009…FINALLY!

6. The remix will always be around as long as DIDDY is involved…..

5. BLOGGING, here’s why; Sitting at a desk, listening, writing, and attending everything HIP HOP related has provided LowKey with the opportunity to travel the world, party 3 days out of a 5 day work week and receive a steady income. THANK YOU!

4. Hip Hop websites like this one, I love this one, that one, oh this one too, definitely this one and can’t forget about this one….

3. Barack Obama’s influence over the hip hop culture….

2. THIS MAN!

1. To have witnessed some of the greatest music ever created…..

Now that you know what I’m thankful for, what about you guys???? WHAT ARE YOU THANKFUL FOR?

Happy Thanksgiving…IM GHOST!

Sincerely

Earlier this summer my good friend and I got into a fiery discussion about honorary whites- you know the black people that even black people forget are black. While he insisted that Cuba Gooding Jr. was the whitest black man on earth, I argued that Tiger Woods far surpassed him in all categories of whiteness.

After what seemed like hours and hours of texting back and forth, we finally reached a consensus on the ultimate honorary white: Will Smith. That’s right, our very own Willy from Philly marked his final transition into whitehood when he played the last man on earth in the film I Am Legend.

The last man on earth a black man on earth? Yeah right. People definitely forgot that Will was black for that role, otherwise there is no way he would have been able to represent the entire human race. Needless to say, following this conversation I was almost one hundred percent positive that if we were to ever have a black President, it would be him. It seemed he had all the right characteristics- a charming smile and a friendship with Tom Cruise.

Fortunately last week when Barack Obama became the first African-American President, I was proved wrong. It has been almost two weeks and I am just now coming off my Presidential election induced high. Last Tuesday was a lot of things.

It was historical. It was magical. It gave black people the right to quote Jeezy every five seconds by singing “My President is black, my Lambo is blue.” Although my Lamborghini is non-existent and my real car is white you get the point- there is a black man in the White House and it feels hmm hmm good. Read below to find out who, other than African-Americans still holding up their black fists, is having the best week ever.

I wonder what our non hip hop advocates find more frightening; our Commander-In-Chief being African American in less than 6 months or me walking down the street mouthing the words, “My president’s black, my lambo is blue and I’ll be god damn if my rims ain’t too”. Since Jeezy and Nas are ready to embrace Obama with open arms, they decided to make a little diddy about it. “My President’s Black”, a motivational track from Jeezy’s forthcoming project, The Recession, couldn’t come at a better time, especially with the DNC (Democratic National Convention) right around the corner.

Obviously joking, I think this should and could be Obama’s intro theme when he accepts the democratic nomination at the upcoming convention. Maybe I’m reaching, but hey, the tune is dope. “My President Is Black” is available for downloading capabilities, below.

Chris Lighty gives Barack Obama some hip hop advice! As November inches closer and closer, things around this country will become extremely tenses. Issues will be deemed more sensitive than usual, topics will be addressed, and opinions will be expressed. So it comes as no surprise that Chris Lighty, CEO of Violator Management (rummage through his resume, HERE!) is doing just that.

In a new blog entry over at the Huffington Post, Lighty ever so gently, verbally taps Obama on the chin (but in a good way, I think). The post, which starts out with Lighty re-introducing himself to the Huffington public, addresses the tom foolery that is Barack Obama Vs. Ludacris. Now if you’re familiar with these parts (SoundOff), you’re probably aware of Luda’s song, “Politics As Usual” from his recently released mixtape, The Preview. And if you’re not, skate over here for a minute.

Lighty offers nothing but support throughout the blurb, but also directs a good portion of his rhetoric toward Obama and his campaign in correlation with how they responded to Luda’s aggressive content on the track, “Politics As Usual”. Instead of me trying to rephrase Lighty’s message, let me snatch a fragment of the post real quick….

“We the people who are feeling the pinch need your help, but why are you lowering your stature to answer rap records?! Why take offense? No disrespect to Ludacris, but if he wanted to address you, he would have sent you a letter, email, phone call or smoke signal. Let Luda speak to his fans and galvanize them to join the cause in his OWN way. He’s not a member of your campaign and he’s not even trying to be. He is an artist. Period. Across social, political and philanthropic causes, today’s global youth see themselves as possessing the potential to effect enormous change, and impact the world through pop culture. Nothing wrong with that! But it is what it is. Luda is no politician, and even his fans know better than to take him as seriously as you just did.”

Sheeeesh, Chris…..point taken. He even goes on to address an ad that aired during the opening ceremonies of the 2008 Olympics…….

“Yeah, it’s great you bought airtime during the Olympics. But on 8/8/08 no one was watching, because the ad for Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, drowned you out. From a marketing perspective, that was money misspent. You need to cut through the noise and target your audience. Don’t forget to get up and speak to hip hop. Spend your advertising dollars on BET and MTV’s TRL and other urban media outlets that can spread your message to the youth. Continue to inspire change”

Zing! Another point for Chris (I kid). All jokes aside, Chris does voice some valid points. I too expressed how Obama and his team’s response to Luda’s song was a bit premature. If there’s going to be ANY type of connection with politics and hip hop, the condescending tone has to be nipped in the bud, immediately. I’m not saying he can’t voice his opinion on issues within the hip hop community that concern him, but when they issue statements to the media (especially SLY FOX), that pins Obama Vs. Hip Hop, which is a lane we’re definitely trying to keep clear.

Now that I’ve added my seventeen cents, let’s hear yours. Was Chris to harsh on Senator Obama or did everything come out just right?

Sincerely

Low “Let’s make this a peaceful debate, people!” Key
